Wow. This is a shock. I just recently found out we were shopping him around, but with Rueben Foster coming back I guess the brain trust feels they can do without him. I don’t like this move short-term as I don;t have the faith in Ray Ray Armstrong that the coaches seem to. But in reality, Bowman was a liability in coverage, and Ray Ray is all over the place. Having Foster in the middle will hopefully lessen the responsibility on Ray Ray to cover the backs over the middle that seem to gain 20 yards at a clip.
I get it but I don’t like it. He’s been the heart and soul, with Patrick Willis, of this linebacking corps. They could have been the most dynamic pair of 3-4 linebackers in NFL history if not for the injuries. And this does fall under the Bill Walsh philosophy of ‘get rid of ’em a year early rather than a year late.’
Again, I get it but I don’t like it. This is at his request, and I’m glad they honored it, but there was an obvious problem between him and the coaches regarding his playing time. This moment at the last game at the Stick is one of many memories . . . Happy trainls, NaVorro.
Apparently this was per his request. Just don;t go to Seattle!
It’s for the best. Bowman was a great player at or near the end. Goodbye and good luck. Perhaps he’ll land on a playoff type team.
Yes, a surprise but it’s a cold, hard business. And Seattle is probably exactly where he’ll go. Foster is the only decent LB the Niners have now. Coyle and Armstrong don’t inspire much confidence. Yet another hole that will need to be filled in the draft or through FA.
I don’t like it either but if he asked to be waived then he wasn’t happy. What a fantastic 49er he was, a player like that is definitely gonna be missed.
hopefully he goes to the Raiders and not a division team
It just sucks what could have been with Willis and Bowman. They has 3 years together but they should both be out there.
This new regime is basically doing the typical thing of out with the old regime’s guys and we’ll bring in our own players. Bowman wasn’t happy with his new role and the new coach and GM had their own ideas. A trade couldn’t be worked out and this release was inevitable. Goodbye and good luck!
Sucks that Bowman was released. What a great player he was for us. The NFL takes its toll . God bless him and our new ILB’s !
At least he gets to make his own deal with another team. He should play for a contender somewhere. Changes are happening with this new regime very fast. It’s probably typical.
The full blown Demo is underway.
Be interesting to see if Staley gets any interest before the Trade Deadline too.
NYG would be one spot I could see as a possibility.
Also, Tyron Smith in Dallas is apparently dealing with a disc issue in his back. Though he’s carrying a huge Contract as well.
Be a kind thing to do for Staley IMO.
Let him have a shot somewhere before he hangs them up.
He won’t see much in SF at this point.
The youth movement is on.
When Kerley was tossed I thought they were pretty set on getting rid of the Baalke crew.
Hyde gone? I’d rather see him and Staley stick around as Breida isn’t any great shakes. But unless we can get some good value, hey.
NJ- It has been a total rebuild right from the gate. I think KS was just kicking the tires on Bowman. I also think Hyde’s production could fairly easily be replaced. I know he breaks one off now and again but 9 out of 10 times when we need 3 yards he gets 1 to 2 and that just doesn’t cut it. I truly don’t think we should get rid of Staley and I don’t think he wants to go anywhere anyway. Sending him to NY or Dallas would be sure death. Seems to me the players have been put on notice and we shall see what comes out of it. It would be a kick in the head if we could beat those Goddamn Redskins.
Yeah rumors are flying Hyde will walk the plank soon.
Life in the NFL Winder.
Game is brutal to say the least.
Just never saw Hyde getting a 2nd Contract with us, mainly due to his inability to stay on the field for 16 games/season.
He’s no Frank in that regard but, who is?
Gotta expect Lynch/Shanny to rebuild in their own image certainly.
I just think it would be a favor to Staley if someone in contention came calling before the deadline.
Teams in contention know what a fire sale looks like and, will look to steal what they can.
NYG aren’t in contention but, they need a LT.
I’d keep Joe unless a very reasonable offer came along.
Seems they did Bowman a favor by not dealing him to a team he didn’t prefer to play for.
Sad to see it end that way for him but, they did what he preferred, which is a good gesture I guess?
They got nothing in return but a savings on his Cap number in the end.
Foster ain’t playing today according to KNBR.
Hasn’t Bowman had leg injuries the last 2 seasons? Once a players leggs start to go so must the player. He has definitely lost a step the players he was able to cover before Are going by him
QB beat the blitz
it’s gonna be a long day
Yes, LONG!
Nice to see penalties go our way
Let’s see 2 runs 0 yards! Pass, pass, pass
If it wasn’t for the penalties it would have been 3 and out!!
3 and 12, throw it 6 yards. Gawd this team sucks!
Offense so far looks inept. Hope they can get something going.
New thread.
