Game Day! Revenge of the Jed(i) . . .

Here we go with the 2017 season. A new regime,  a team that has very few holdovers from the last season, a new coaching staff, and a surprisingly quiet front office. A front office I sure hope has learned their lesson in how to run a team and stay in the background and let the coaches coach and the players play while they shut the fuck up and write the checks.

Anyhow, our 6 game opening day win streak is on the line against the Carolina Panthers. A team Colin Kaepernick beat in their house in the distant past of of the 2013 season. 23-10 on our way to a disappointing loss to Seattle.  Eons ago. Cam Newton after that loss, fell out of the playoffs before their 15-1 season and subsequent Super Bowl L loss. Last year of course they cratered again and Newton seems to be at a crossroads yet again in his career. Their defense went south, even with Luke Kuechly. Without him, they got worse.

Now? Shit, I don’t know. I’m fairly optimistic and I’m thinking we keep the streak alive. And I think we go 9-7. Expectations are small and I think if we stay relatively healthy, we could make a playoff run.

27-17 Niners.

Totally missed Taylor there. Fuck Hoyer.

  2. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    goddamnit

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

If Hoyer could have thrown the ball through Kuechly, he was open. Speilman is on glue.

  4. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

All game long Carolina gets a push with their down linemen. Niners? Nada.

  5. bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

pffftttt….Well, now I gotta stick with my ballsy 4 win prediction. If only there was a time machine…..

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck. We don’t have the line to make plays consistently. Blame Hoyer all you want, but he has no time and we aren’t running very well but for a couple plays.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Speilman is fucking blind. He’s has no idea what he’s looking at. Hyde gets tackled if he goes outside.

  8. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Spielman’s right, Hyde goes outside and it’s 6. Other than that, he’s had a nice game.

  9. bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

I’m not blaming Hoyer, he is what he is. Nobody thought they’d be this bad today. They are very likely not scoring a td. At home. Embarrassing and pathetic.

  10. bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

SPielman gave Hoyer credit for not throwing the ball to avoid the penalty but he LOST THE DOWN and also lost the yardage he would have lost on the penalty. Had they got a penalty they would have replayed the down. Spielman is an idiot.

If I was Shaw, I’d be in Palo Alto trying to figure out how USC kicked my ass last night, not glad-handing at a 49ers game.

    • bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

sadly, I must admit they got beat by the better team last night. Hopefully they get better as the year goes on.

Where have I seen this before in side the 20 and can’t score. Start at their own 40 yard line and don’t get past the 50 yard line!!

  13. bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

Can you imagine how fucking hot it must be on the sunny side of the stadium? Man, it’s 94 at my house, it’s gotta be 110+ in the seats in Santa Clara

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

How do you design a billion dollar stadium and not take into account the heat on that side of the stadium? It’ll NEVER get better. Stoopid engineering.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

All sides were sunny, it switched during the afternoon. Brutal.

  14. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Lot of work to do and a Seahawks team that will be frothing at the mouth if the Pack holds on and wins.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

That has a lot to do with the empty seats, Flav. It is fucking miserable in there and there isn’t a lick of shade. At least in the upper deck, you might catch a breeze.

Got to wonder what happens if fucking Goodwin catches the TD pass.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Seattle isn’t scoring either.

  17. bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

    Hoyer’s been on 6 teams I think. That’s a lot.

  18. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49er says:

    The NYJ scored 12
    The Browns 18

    Look at the bright side…
The Bungals got blanked…And The Rams are in 1st place.
    Week one Gents.
No prizes to be handed out just yet.

I’m not down on the season yet, I know this will take some time and it was Shanny’s first game as HC. I just thought they’d play better than they did. They were pretty bad today.

  20. Winder's avatar Winder says:

They will be getting better. We need to fix the lines. I don’t get out Dline it’s full of so called studs but they look like duds. You have to be able to press the fucking QB, it’s the name of the game.

    • bigflavor's avatar Flavor says:

that doesn’t make sense to me either. The OL has a couple of journeymen, it’s not a surprise they are below average. But our D-Line is supposed to be good. I don’t get why they were literally complete no shows today.
