Reuben Foster is Good to Go . . . Solomon Thomas Signs

According to Kyle Shanahan, Reuben Foster is fully cleared to participate in camp. Thus dodging a huge bullet that threatened to derail the start to his football career with the 49ers. The risk to drafting him allowed him to drop to 31, where the Niners traded up to snag him in this year’s draft.

So, at this point in John Lynch’s drafting career, he has surpassed Trent (I never met a knee injury I didn’t like) Baalke in taking shots on injured players. Huzzah. Still and all, I’d like to keep the hitting on that shoulder to a minimum.

In other news, Colin Kaepernick may get signed by Baltimore as they deal with Joe Flacco’s back injury that may keep him out 6 weeks or more.

John certainly can get enough information about Kaepernick from his brother, you know, who drafted him and took him to the Super Bowl.

  1. Winder says:

I guess we will find out in a couple of days once the pads are on how healthy some of our players are. It looks like on defense anyway that the players will have to show some true grit. Saleh(sp) sounds like a real task master and with Lynch hovering in the background I think we will be a very fast hard hitting D. I just hope our players can make it through without any serious injuries. On offense I think that Hoyer is a good stop gap until we get our franchise QB. If he can throw a screen, read defenses, and be able to throw the long ball on occasion we will be far ahead of where we have been the last few years. Our Oline and running game should also be much better than the last couple of years. It will all be a matter of being on the same page. I could give a shit about Kap, stupid is as stupid does as far as I am concerned.

Winder, I think the players union has put a fairly hard stop to a lot of the hitting that is involved in camps these days. they have lessened the two-a-days and practice in pads.

This is a double-edged sword of course, but I know Bill Walsh stressed play execution over the hitting aspects of practice. And in other news, we signed Solomon Thomas to his rookie deal. 4 years, $28 mill and change . . . I’ll take the change.

  3. unca_chuck says:

So we have signed all our rookies . . .

  4. Winder says:

There is always so much hype going on this time of year it’s hard to get a true picture of what’s really happening. So far everyone is saying to right things but as we know just about everyone lies about this shit. Football is the ultimate team game and we need to shake away all the bullshit that’s been going on for the last few years. I just hope we can do it.

  5. Lurker John says:

Both Jimmy Ward and Eric Reid injured, Reid today with an ankle. Not good given the lack of depth at those positions.

  6. Lurker John says:

You’re right about the training camp bullshit, Winder, but I’m still excited for this coming season and for good reason I think. We’ll see how it plays out, but I’m happy with the moves that have been made, from top to bottom. I’m not expecting miracles this year, but the team should be fun to watch anyway.

  7. unca_chuck says:

As flying vag loved to rail in, the NFL is about parity. Good and bad can be measured in like 3 or 4 plays a game that determine the outcomes. Much depends on coaching.

This is how teams rise and fall so fast in the NFL more so than other sports. Shanahan is a known entity as an offensive guru. Saleh is an unknown but a young guy with a plan. I hope.

We may not be playoff ready but I think the team is heading in the right direction.

All young sir fucking Jed needs to do is stay out of the way. We’ll see soon enough.

    • Lurker John says:

The jury is still out, but I think the off-season moves indicate that young Jed may have finally learned that lesson. There may yet be hope for him. GO NINERS!

      • Winder says:

Lurker- Lets hope so because I wonder if Jed even realizes how much he affects the dynamic of the team. Bullshit just brings more bullshit. I think we are in the very best place we could be in at the moment, adding 50+ players to the roster sends a message loud and clear. Baring to many serious injuries it should be a fun year. There will certainly be a lot of growing pains.
Chuck- from what I have read Saleh is on a fast track for a HC job. I hope he does a good job here and if he does that he doesn’t bolt for another team until he’s at least spent a couple of years here.

      • Lurker John says:

Well, Saleh sure has a good pedigree coming from a Seattle organization known for the best defense in the league for 5 years running. While depth may still be lacking in areas, there’s enough defensive talent in place now for the D to be pretty damn good, assuming injuries don’t become a factor and that the scheme is a good one.

  8. Nipper says:

Yeah lets all vote for more fun in this coming season. I hope the offense can be competitive. I think from what I’ve read the defense will be very productive. If that’s true I’ll remain hopeful for better results in the coming season.

  9. Lurker John says:

Jaquiski Tartt injured in today’s practice. Sounds like his ribs. Hopefully not too serious.

  10. unca_chuck says:

Jesus. 3 DBs injured in 3 days?

  11. unca_chuck says:

JEsus. The Giants are hideous. The pen blows every lead handed to them.

  12. rob says:

chuck LOL thanks for post of the year honors ! hope our safeties are all good to go ! they IMHO are the strength of the secondary ! defense of course being our strong suit this year ! Also like the WR we just picked up !

  13. rob says:

Louis Murphy hasn’t had huge number of catches or yards in his career but the 8 year vet averaged 19 yds per reception last year ! maybe between Garcon, Kerley , Ellington , Murphy and Deandre we can get a few yards on “O”. Not to mention the rookie TE we just drafted ! our running backs are solid IMO !

  14. rob says:

Shanny Jr. is going to be a good one , just wish we had a QB ! they don’t grow on trees you know !

  15. unca_chuck says:

In case you missed it . . .

  16. alleykat69 says:

Kappy’s new mission is to “FREE STIX”
He pulls that off he will be every Flappers Hero!!

  17. unca_chuck says:

Heh heh!! Sounds like a plan, AK.

  18. 12th Man says:

Dolphins QB is likely out for an extended time with a knee injury. Kap’s best chance at a gig so far and he does like the Fins hats, not sure the locals will like his Castro shirts so much though.

  19. Nipper says:

Kap has to get hired by someone soon. There’s too many bad QBs in the league especially backups. With injuries sure to come he’s in……. it’s just a matter of time. Of course the media has to exaggerate everything.

    • 12th Man says:

He might if a team gets really desperate. The fact he isn’t in the game this far into the year is no exaggeration whatever the media says, that speaks for itself.

  20. 12th Man says:

Ellington walks the plank, hope he doesn’t pull a hammy again.

  21. unca_chuck says:

    Hah! New thread is up.
