OK, That List Was Too Fucking Long . . .

Meanwhile, the QB position remains the big prize for the franchise. The Garoppolo deal is still floating around out there, Cutler and Hoyer are skulking around looking for work, and shit, Kappy and Ponder are creeping around the edges of the light near 4949 Centennial Blvd. Shanahan has said he doesn’t want to get a stop-gap guy, but really, the options are fairly limited. Word is, Shanny likes him some Garoppolo, so we may be trading our #2 pick. Gutsy move, but he is young and, well, young.

The guys I mentioned are either unproven, proven mediocrities, or just not Aaron Rodgers. Or even Matty Ice. Cousins isn’t going anywhere. Shanahan did well with RG III in Washington, and Schaub in Houston. He CAN turn, if not shit to gold, then crap to decency. However, that doesn’t clear things up in the QB department.

I really don’t want to see us draft a QB with the 2nd pick. On the off chance Myles Garrett is there, I’d jump on that in a heartbeat. Watson? Man, he sounds good, looks good, has the tools, but is a huge risk. And Trubinski is even more green and more of a risk. The rest are 3rd rounders. Stay away from QBs this draft. So who do we get, if not Garrett? Yet another D lineman? We are apparently going 4-3, so another body on the line could be in order. Stanford’s Solomon Thomas springs to mind. He climbed  up the draft board after his dominant game in the Ty-D-Bowl, or whatever the fuck it was.

Jonathan Allen is also available at what I’d assume to be as DT if we took him. Both are disruptors that could give the line a much needed jolt of electricity. Other than that, I’m ultimately curious about what the hell is going to happen these next couple months.

Yeah chuck I am running out of things to say. This is truly a dead time of year for football. Got my fingers and toes crossed that we do something good in both FA and the draft. And, I really don’t give a fuck who we take in the draft as long as we get some good players.

  2. Nipper says:

Yeah get a new QB someone not named Kap. I’m sick of his BS. If he could produce in the red zone I would forgive him. That’s the key get a guy who can connect with good receivers in the red zone. If a guy can’t do that than he’s not worth much at the pro level.

  3. Nipper says:

Just my thoughts …….I hate lists and comparing present players to former players. TO should be in the Hall of Fame. Apparently he’s a good bowler too.

    • Winder says:

once again most of them are young. They say there is strength in numbers and It looks like we are getting there.

      • 12th Man says:

Not much to choose from signing the HC so long after the season ends. Biggest question mark for me is the DC, but choice was limited. I wondered aloud last year if they weren’t better off going 4-3 hybrid because they didn’t have a true NT. In any event this year will be all change, O and D schemes, players, coaches, at least it will be different after the Baalke years.
I’m looking forward to seeing it evolve.

They are already attracting a top DT for a visit and that’s a huge difference right there.

Niners taking a look at a free agent DT:
    http://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/1234880

    • Winder says:

i dunno this guy seems like more of a risk than not. His stats are not that good.

      • Nipper says:

For a team that’s young like the Niners , free agents are expensive and are not always very useful. Besides getting injured some just are past their best years. The Raiders for years under Al got guys that just wanted a final paycheck into retirement. Raiders just kept sucking anyway. Finally through the draft under this new GM they are building through good drafting of players. It takes time.

      • 12th Man says:

Solid run stuffer, something the Niners were devoid of last year giving up 7 x 100 yd rushers in a row (record).

      • 12th Man says:

I think the raiders O line was 3 free agent signings last year Nipper.

  5. Nipper says:

So the earth is flat? Man some of these guys who happen to have skills in sports should just duct tape their mouths shut. It’s really getting embarrassing. How can some athletes be so foolish?

    • Winder says:

It’s because they like to see their names in print. Maybe they want to start up the flat-earth society again.

For being people that spent a shitload of time in airplanes, you’d think they would look out the fucking window and notice the curvature of the Earth.

  7. Nipper says:

Cousins finally got traded…….good riddance. He should fare better with the Pelicans. Sac was losing enough games so why pay this guy big bucks?

  8. Nipper says:

It’s President’s Day…….yeah I know who gives a shit! Still I’m curious what’s your favorite President? Mine is Warren G. Harding. He was so bad that for me he’s my favorite. Harding worried about his lousy friends causing him problems. He was the first President elected by women who could finally vote. He was a handsome guy and good with the ladies. He died in office in San Francisco. There were lots of scandals in the Harding Administration. One of biggest scandals was the Tea Pot Dome Scandal. Yeah if your interested look it up.

I was out in the rain around 4PM and I wasn’t singing. My shoes and feet were wet and my lower pants legs were sopping wet……. and still my umbrella performed heroically to save my pathetic head. Only one big tree was down laying on it’s side. . It was like the end of the world. Like the postman, nothing stops me from getting my walking in. Two miles of walking does wonders for me.

  10. Winder says:

Never heard of these guys until yesterday

  11. Nipper says:

Until the new coach picks a QB ……….everyone is just whistling in the dark. No matter how fancy the words they don’t mean shit. This new HC better not pick KAP. KAP better get out of town pronto and forever or the faithful will become the faithless. This team does not need a running QB with one eye on his political stands. We need production on offense! We need production in the RED ZONE! Nothing short of that will do. BLEEP IT!

  13. Winder says:

NJ- Thanks for that, very nice.

Niners signed a CB, first signing under the all new management:

  15. 12th Man says:

Bears trying to trade Cutler, rumors have the Niners as a possible landing spot:
    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/02/01/jay-cutler-could-be-in-play-for-the-49ers/

  16. unca_chuck says:

I’d rather keep aKappy than trade for cutler.

    Nice pick up BTW.

  17. unca_chuck says:

I’d prefer to lay low and build in the draft. Sign. Few FAs and do it right.

  18. 12th Man says:

More red meat on the Cousins to the Niners speculation, this guy thinks a deal could be at the combine:
    http://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/103794-daniel-jeremiah-kirk-cousins-could-traded-49ers-combine/

    • Winder says:

Interesting to say the least. Guess we find out how much Shanny loves him some Cousins.

      • 12th Man says:

I have to believe after reading what he values in a QB that Kap isn’t his man for the job.
I don’t really know how good Cousins is other than his stats. I haven’t watched him play much.

  19. 12th Man says:

Paraag putting a shine on himself:
    http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/paraag-marathe-my-job-stay-my-lane-help-coach-and-gm

Let’s hope he really does stay in his lane.

  20. unca_chuck says:

More like casting shade. But hey, if they have all learned their lessons somehow after 14 years of tripping over their dicks, more power to ’em.

Well, not more power. Let me rephrase that. Twist in the wind, fuckers. And pray the guys you hired work out.

Cousins? That’s all well and good, but his price tag will go up if he’s franchised again. It’ll be at least a 1 and 2. Still think we should go slow on this.

Mainly because the expectations go from 4 to 10 wins overnight.

  21. unca_chuck says:

Winder, I don’t want either of them, but given the choice I’d take Kappy over Cutler. Shit, I’d take Hoyer over either of them. But even that doesn’t sound like the direction that Shanahan wants to go. He’s at least sounding like he wants a Cousins / Garoppolo type. Maybe he’s blowing smoke, but those choices will cost a lot. I’d rather use all these picks to build the roster and take a shot with a 2nd tier QB that won’t be a giant investment. A Hoyer type.

  22. Winder says:

chuck- I agree. I can’t stand either Cutler or kap. But I think Kap is a cancer in the locker room and with an asshole like Cutler I think we have a better chance. I don’t know what we are gonna do but I doubt we sell the farm for Cousins. What ever happened with Schab(sp) I thought he was on our radar also.

    • ewisco says:

well kap won the eshmont so you can’t say he’s a cancer. he’s not my fav but his teammates seemed to respond.

i still wanted to see more of ponder. maybe that was kelley’s fu to the organization?

      • Winder says:

ewisco- I still don’t get how he won that. I know the players vote. The whole franchise was in a losing culture last year so I guess Kap showed the most courageous fortitude while we lost.

  23. Nipper says:

    Cleaning house continues……….Gamble gone.

  24. unca_chuck says:

However you feel about Kappy, him getting the Eshmont says something about him. From what I heardm the players that disagreed with his stance he took the time to explain his position and he changed a lot of minds.

Then again, the players rallied around Kelly all season and it didn’t get them anywhere.

    • Nipper says:

Kap should be gone. If they bring him back it will be a mistake. He’s lousy in the red zone. His passes are not accurate enough. Perhaps if we had a Jerry Rice type receiver it would help.

  25. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Eric I wondered that myself. When gge team was 2-10 and Kelly said ‘this isn’t tryout tine’ in response to putting Ponder in, I was baffled. Bullshit it ain’t tryout time. 2-10 is the DEFINITION of tryout time. He looked ok (along with Narcus Rush) in preseason.

  26. 12th Man says:

Mike Lombardi on Kap who he says is horrendous, Ponder who he knows for a fact that some in the building thought was the best QB on roster, and Garoppolo who he says Shanny was very high on in Cleveland (Lombardi and Shanny were both in Cleveland so he knows) and that the Niners are the most likely landing spot for Garoppolo but he doubts NW trades him.
