If last week showed anything it’s that the WC teams weren’t very worthy. The divisional round however brought some very good football.
And of course Mike Nolan still looks like an idiot for passing on Aaron Rodgers. Although Not so Young Sir Alex got close yet again to that elusive Championship game he’s been after since Kyle Williams fucked up so horribly.
I still harken back to the days we could have had Rodgers AND McCarthy but I digress. Rodgers yet again made sick throw across his body under pressure on 3rd and 17 to give his kicker the (2) chance(s) to win the game.
On the flip side is Alex and Andy Reid fell short yet again. Always a bridesmaid and always coming up short. I wasn’t sold on KCs defense but they did more than enough to win that game. Reid and co fell short by going away from their primary weapons in Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. Pittsburgh is not slouch on defense but there was no adjustment to get those guys the ball more often.
Ahhh well. This just makes us look bad in the end. Both those QBs in the infamous 2005 draft are still playing ar a high enough level to reach the playoffs and at least make some plays. I don’t think Rodgers gets any further anyway, but that was a hell of a game from him yesterday.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda, that’s the 49er way. I can imagine all three of those elements went in the planning stage of Jed’s new cabana. I can’t don’t see why he interviewed Cable, to me that is time wasted. Time that could, should, or would be used to actually make a good GM hire. But, that is asking to much. Get ready for the Jimmy hat III/ Cable combo. Boy Howdy.
Well McDaniels is already angling for a bigger payday by talking about family and stability.
McDaniels is quitting the process and staying put for now. At least that’s the latest scuttlebutt. Jed probably leaked, “don’t bother” to him.
As for Cable, Jed was probably looking for a security person to guard his new cabana and thought Cable could not only be a coach but provide security at his home as well.
Cable is a no-go. If we don’t get Shanahan, we are fucked.
Get Shanny and Wolf, and the team all of a sudden doesn’t look too bad. At least those guys are the real deal. As long as the Dorks stay in the background.
The thing about the NFL is, NO team is that far from being good. Parity is a real and tangible thing in the NFL, and teams can crawl from the bottom to the top fairly quickly.
We aren’t as in good shape as we were when Harbaugh came, and the team was loaded with top draft picks, there is still a nucleus of talent to build around.
Get a QB, a pass rusher, and a WR, and we are better than AZ.
Easy, amiright?
LeBron should be fined for acting so badly. What a horrible call by the refs.
I concur plus a one game suspension. That was a real bad look. LeBron disgraces himself by doing that flopping plus hanging onto the rim after dunks is a disgrace too. The man just wants to be a play yard punk.
McDaniels sees the obvious.
Jed is an unstable dimwit, with a piss poor track record tied around his neck.
Anyone with a pair of eyes and ears knows what the story is, before even walking into an interview.
So much for the GM hiring his HC I guess?
They’re simply looking for replacements to take themselves out of the spotlight.
Not sure why you are so high on McDaniels, NJ. I’d take Shanahan in a nano-second over McDaniels.
I’m not high on anyone Chuck.
I’m just sick of the process.
Jed has taken a once revered Franchise, and turned into a place where qualified people, with any amount of credibility, avoid like the plague.
Jed talks out of his A$$.
Where’s the GM hire that was going to rebuild the FO?
Jed and Paraag are the FO.
Everyone else is simply waiting to take the bullets or, to be canned.
Jed is a clueless, feckless wad of BS.
He’ll simply have to settle for anyone willing to kiss his A$$ and take his money.
Much like the guys that passed through DC over the years.
Jed is a joke.
They can’t talk to Shanny anyway so they should focus on the GM.
Until Jed spends money on football guys, and stays out of the picture, nothing will change.
There’s no Cap on Coaches or Football Execs.
Neither Jed, or Paraag, qualify as Football Execs in my book.
They complicate the process IMO.
Football guys don’t want Danny Snyder Jr pulling the strings. They want support, and all the resources money can buy, to build a strong locker room.
Kinda hard to win with class when your Owner is a classless, backstabbing pariah.
Yeah but he’s got a Cabana.
Might as well hire Mike Shanahan as GM.
We already know what HC he’d pick.
Would bolster Jed’s options to get the last remaining guy on their list too.
Patience is a virtue.
Well, I am pretty sure that would still be a big step-up from Baalky/Kelly. My gripe is that he’s wasted too much time already. If your are gonna gamble go ahead and gamble. I think they missed out with McVay. He’s young and has a lot to prove. The NFL game needs some new blood because the product I have seen for the most part really doesn’t resemble real football.
They must be waiting for Shanahan. If he doesn’t come there’s always CABLE. The bleeps coming from Chuck’s abode if that transpires will be loud and vociferous. Ex-Raider coach becomes the HC would be ludicrous but funny. Jed would be roasted over a spit in the parking lot if he showed his face.
Well presuming they do hire Shanny Jr, which coaching prospect would be better?
All the GM prospects are still in play too and they are the brightest guys available.
I don’t get why all the doom and gloom.
If they hire Cable I’m seriously unhappy, but Shanny Jr is maybe the brightest O mind in the league, my ideal HC. His only detraction being no HC experience but I figure his dad will help out if he needs it.
All this crying about lame Jed and Paraag, if they land Shanny and any of the top name GM guys please tell me who else would be better?
I concur ……at least Jed is showing some patience in his search. Too soon to criticize.
Looking at the other HC hires I would choose Shanny Jr over all of them. McVay would have been my second choice.
Fingers crossed they get their man, he has major leverage to dictate terms to management too, no bad thing IMO.
Me too. but a lot is riding on the Shanny hire. Things can still turn out rosy.
Yeah I feel same way 12th. If he can land shanny and wolf, I’ll be more than happy. all I know is I didn’t want mcdaniels. McVay would have been nice but we need to get shanny.
Thing about Shanny is he just shredded Seattle. Not a bad thing.
Cable withdrew. So many withdrawals is a sure sign that the jobs are filled.
I’m more than happy with that.
Mike Nolan interviewing with the Jags as LB coach…Don’t think he will get to wear a suit though:
Gase was too young for Tweeter and The Money Man a short time ago –
What has changed?
Gase – March 29, 1978 (age 38)
Shanahan – December 14, 1979 (age 37)
Applicants removing themselves from the process could also mean, no one respects Jed or, it’s too volatile to risk a one-and-done, regardless of the Contract terms.
The GM hire hasn’t materialized yet either which leads me to believe there was never any serious thought to allowing the GM to pick HIS HC.
This is just another charade from the Micro-Mgt 101 Handbook.
Give everyone the chance to agree with the Jed/Paraag Business Model.
They better give it to Daddy Shanahan before Kyle gets cold feet.
Baalke pulled the plug on Gase, according to Gase.
All speculation at this point 12th.
If Jed/Paraag said he was too young, Baalke was sent to deliver the message.
Tweeter and The Money Man run this sh!t show.
No speculation NJ, Adam Gase makes it perfectly clear, Baalke turned him down, not the owners:

I know you like those rose tinted glasses over TB but its a lost cause man. He sucked as a GM and generally as a talent evaluator with just a few good picks i there.
Cable is out thank God.
NJ, Mike isn’t even on the table. The Niners are looking to Eliot Wolf. Who has no problem with Kyle.
They have tied their wagon to Kyle. Better than anything in the building.
Cable must have known he had no chance. He just wanted some publicity for a future move if he chooses to move up. Even Al got sick of him.
Chuck I’m all for football guys. The more, the merrier.
I’m simply questioning all the BS surrounding the ‘Plan’ to have the GM hire the HC.
The nitwits are simply stacking the deck with guys they want.
Micro-Mgt 101 kinda sh!t.
I’m being facetious about Mike, simply as a last gasp ‘guarantee’ that Kyle won’t balk.
If he does, Tweeter and The Money Man can always turn to Bobby Boucher and the Maytag repairman.
Hard to recruit serious football candidates to work in the circus they’ve created in SF.
One good thing about young Shanny anyway.
He’s been fired a lot already.
Thick skin and HC money might just get him to sign on?
Quite frankly it really doesn’t matter who Jed ties his wagon to.
It’s all about whether the guy to whom he’s tied his wagon, wants to put up with all the sh!t Jed’s track record has piled into that wagon.
Jed isn’t bargaining with any leverage, other than money.
Tweeter and The Money Man know $$s and ¢
Football guys know Xs and Os
Somehow these nitwits expect Xs and Os to equate to hugs and kisses.
If they’re not coddled, and worshiped, (through their own expectations), they run the basic Xs and Os of backstabbing, and media smear campaigns, until ALL threats are removed.
