I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

I read that Garrison Smiths agent was shocked and really angry the Niners cut him. I hope they get the chance to sign him to the PS. That guy has a good chance to be a quality starter. He was as effective as Purcell.

Seattle has done this to us time and again. Fuck, Baalke, when are you going to stop giving them the opportunity to grab a guy and either play him or milk him for info? Stupid shit. It’s almost like they are scanning our cuts waiting to see who they can grab.
12th, from what I can find, it looks like the percentage of first draft picks who make the roster in year one is 99.7%. 5th round players make it 81.1% of the time. The Niners kept all of their 1-5 round guys, above the league average. So my comment of ‘pretty good’ was off, but in the wrong direction. Can’t beat 100%. As of right now, it appears to be a solid draft, but, like Flav said yesterday, in the long run it only matters if they produce. The real test starts a week from Monday.

John, I didn’t try to break it down by round, just a general statement that not retaining more than 30% of this year’s draft isn’t ok.
Worse is losing Garrison Smith IMO. That comes back to bite them.
Smelter was another ACL warrior that didn’t work out too.
To be fair Baalke’s early picks look good so far.
They cut their 5th round OL Fahn Cooper BTW, he signed to the PS, so not quite 100% but in line with averages rounds 1-5 anyway.

Cajuste likely has a better shot there anyway – I liked what I saw of the limited snaps from Hamm, who obviously got the attention and re-upped.
I liked Hamm too. Good wheels and hands, may end up being a good downfield option at TE.
Kelvin Taylor, Je’Ron Hamm, Shane Skov, Dres Anderson, Norman Price and Fahn Cooper have all been signed to the Niner’s PS. Former Patriot’s UFA WR Chris Harper has been signed to the 49er PS. Devon Cajuste has signed with the Packer’s PS, and the aforementioned Garrison Smith, Jeff Driskel and Bryce Treggs have also signed elsewhere.
I know you guys liked Treggs, but the Niner’s seem incapable of making sound decisions regarding these young guys, at least IMO. I’m glad Taylor was signed, given the fragility of some of our backs.
I like they kept Burbridge, looks like a playmaker.

And given the team’s lack of depth at WR, Treggs and Cajuste would have been nice to have. I know we can play this game all day, but there’s only 53 spots and that’s the reality of it. I hope all of those guys end up having successful careers.

Sure it’s a gamble on injury recovery but, it’s being done within team guidelines so, IMO it beats gambling on someone else’s Trainers.
