Too Much Time On My Hands

Well, the full doldrums have set in. At least in the football world. I tell ya though this is a pretty golden time to be a Bay Area sports fan. The Giants are reigning World Champs, having won 3 of the last 5 World Series, the 49ers were oh, so close in the Super Bowl a couple years ago, and the Golden State Warriors just finished their improbable run to their 2nd championship in California by beating King James and his court of backups. Some are already casting aspersions on the Dubs as they didn’t have to face a) San Antonio or b) the Clippers, and every team they faced has point guard injuries to deal with. Well, tough noogies.

If San Antonio was so good, they shouldn’t have lost to LA. If LA was so good, they shouldn’t have lost to Houston. The Clippers BTW showed absolutely NO guts by blowing a 20 point lead in game 6. You play with the cards you are dealt. Were the Cavs crippled by injuries? Yeah, somewhat. But, again, tough shit. Tristan Thompson played defense about 100% better than Kevin Love could ever dream of. Did they miss his offense? Maybe, but shit happens. Did they miss Kyrie Irving? Sure. Could he have played defense like fucking Dellavedova did? Possible, but he certainly would have brought more offense. Thong is, you don’t know. If both teams get together at full strength would shit be different? No way to know.

Part of what helped the Warriors during the season was he fact that they had a strong bench. They had role players that could step in when needed. Lee, Bogut, Green, Thompson, and even Curry (and others) missed some time this year due to injuries, but they entered the playoffs fairly unscathed. This however, was tested when both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson both suffered head injuries vs Houston. Steph appeared to struggle for a few games after his injury, and Thompson certainly wasn’t his usual self during the finals. Everyone is banged up at this point in the season. You deal with the grind of the season, and the extra grind of the playoffs. At this point, the NBA should really think about shortening the regular season, as the playoffs are such a long haul.

Kudos to Steve Kerr and the Warriors for a truly epic season.  Let’s hope the Niners pick up where they leave off.

Glad to know you are reading this, V. What misspelling?

Well another fun day in Blogland. Chuck, basketball just got real interesting in the Bay Area, by all rights we should be a better team next season. Maybe pigs do fly. It really is a dead time for football, but there is no way I am ready to throw in the towel just yet. I really don’t know much of anything about Tomsula excepting that he’s a good motivator. I believe we have some good football minds with Mangini and spirano(sp on both) and who really knows what were gonna look like. If all these prognosticators in the media were such great football minds WTF aren’t they coaching. My guess is the heard mentality is at play.

Congrats to you golden state fans

Poor Chuck is being roasted on the other blog. At least he’s awarded the proper respect here. Bullit lays it on thick and the right-wing V makes Sarah Palin look like a flaming liberal! Spit is so reactionary he thinks the exploits of Genghis Khan is current news.

    • rob's avatar rob says:

I was going to say the 49ers outsider site makes a carnival freak show look like a baptist church choir. I won’t because that would be a massive insult to both

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Hah! It is pretty amusing winding those guys up. I think even Spitty got out-crazied and left.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Greg Cosell has been Bullit’s main quote for a while. All of this positive info must be making him re-think Cosell’s worthiness.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Thing is its true Berger, this team is loaded with talent they have been grooming for 2 years and the coaching depth is incredible. The HC has a limited NFL experience but more than Harbaugh had. I just don’t get why all the wailing without a single meaningful snap.

Interesting article. I’ve been saying the same thing for 3 months. Doesn’t mean either of us are right, just that there’s another side to this that the knee-jerk crowd overlooks.

Hey, I’m ready for training camp to start, see what we have this year. New year, new era. The Giants and now the Dubs are recent champs. It’s time to get the Niners back in the championship column. I’d love to shut up some of these asshole Seahawks fans I have to work with, about half of which are of the bandwagon variety.

Fuck. It’s like shooting dead fish in an empty barrel is Skeebsland.

    Fun times a ridgemont high . . .

  9. Winder's avatar Winder says:

rt- this should make you smile

  10. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Two big things happened in the off season to get the Warriors over the hump. Better depth and better coaching. Firing a very popular head coach was not received well. Seemed to work out just fine.

Skeebers tolerates Chuck on his blog for COMIC RELIEF! The World awaits Chuck’s response.

    • rob's avatar rob says:

      omg NIPP.
THAT WHOLE BLOG IS COMIC RELIEF. first you have a bunch of guys who think harbaugh is such a great coach nobody else could ever replace him . this year alone three guys i would rather have went to other teams QUINN , SHANAHAN and FANGIO !

They also seem to think winning coaches are never replaced … just look at FOX !

They don’t want to look at the fact that we had 12-4 talent here for all of harbaugh’s tenure ! when you have 12-4 talent you tend to go 11-5 / 12-4 ! when you go 12-4 you tend to win your division ! when you do that you tend to have just one playoff game to win vs. the weakest seed . you also get to play that game at home ! upon winning that game you tend to move on to the championship game ! our record in game played for championships was 1-3 !

the worst part is that for all of the fucking goddamm waste of the nolan years all they could do was play the fool
SKEEBERS spent most of his time playing miss manners and telling everyone why we shouldn’t be talking that way to our fellow niners fans ! trying to convince these dunces that nolan and john york sucked was met with him playing ann landers !
BULLITT mantained that you not only couldn’t criticize the team you were some kind of worthless idiot if you even had an idea that didn’t go along with his official 49ers party line . like when i would suggest we might trade up a few spots for a player and would get the paragraph long explanatio of why we DON’T do that lol
NOFEAR is still pounding the drum for the position coach
the other two fools V and spitoon can’t even post anywhere else lol
the best part is seeing them all on the same blog now !

  12. rob's avatar rob says:

the funny thing is the loss of anthony davis of all things might hurt the most this year . last year we were missing both willis and bowman so bowman and wilhoite sounds ok. we lost crabs but added torry smith . on the Dline we lost smith but added dockett. dumped macdonald but added a first rd. pick. Lost frank but even there we were already lookingh to replace him with hyde sooner or later. The scary one to me is the O-line ! staley , boone , and a returning kilgore are good to go ! brandon thomas at RG is good with me too ! but wtf are we going to do at RT

  13. ROB's avatar ROB says:

omg just read a snappy retort on skeebers site to chuck .
chuck says ” you guys are going to be stuck holding your dicks if we ….
    thier mighty clever comeback
” well chuck at least we have a dick to hold ”
    LOL

  14. ROB's avatar ROB says:

Still have my concerns about our O-line here! i like staley and boone and have high expectations for thomas ! kilgore imho was playing about as good as anybody on our line before he got hurt so i really like him too !
    Who is our 5th ?

  15. ROB's avatar ROB says:

    Trent Brown maybe ?

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

rob- if brown can do it that would be a total steal from the draft standpoint. I look at it like Davis didn’t want to play anymore so at least we won’t have a season watching him go through the motions. We will find the right guy.

      • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Davis was sucking big time the last two years. Thing is our whole line sucked last year. I think the offensive scheme was the biggest problem. Davis is a mauling run blocker who could not pass protect very well. I’m glad he retired.

      • rob's avatar rob says:

love your optimism WINDER ! we will find the right guy ! we also have marcus martin in the mix !

  16. Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

This is one weird off-season no question. I guess the Stick is just about flat. Looks like a dump site.

  17. rob's avatar rob says:

We have staley , boone , martin , kilgore and thomas with brown in the mix .

  18. rob's avatar rob says:

    Just got this from barrows

LT staley LG thomas C kilgore RG pears RT boone

Me i’m thinking martin is still in the mix.

  19. Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Free discourse has been banned on the Skeebers blog. Chuck has been declared persona non grata! And Sir Spit has declared this blog is full of nincompoops!.
