Just saw on the ESPN crawl that Jim Harbaugh is ‘torn’ about accepting the Michigan job. His friends and family are encouraging him to take it, but he says he’s curious about what is around in the NFL. In other words, Jimbo is looking for more money. He’s going to play coy and see who writes the biggest check. I still think it’s going to be Michigan after all is said and done.
Frankly, I’m glad. Yeah, this regime of ineptitude could very hire another shitty coach and we go into the toilet again for 4 years, but I don’t see this team as it is currently constituted doing well if everything stays in place. Not that it could even come to pass, but Harbaugh has a habit of doing exactly what he’s doing here and that’s pissing off everyone around him. Not that this is a determining factor to keep a coach, but Harbaugh was handed the keys to a very talented but underachieving team. He basically rode the team by time and again leaning on the defense to make stops and keep the scores low.
For Harbaugh supposedly being an offensive coach, this was curious to me. There’s trying to be smashmouth and there’s constantly leaving points on the field. Whether Smith or Kaepernick was the QB, the offense was a lot like the previous offense. A whole lot of Gore and a whole lot of keeping the scores down. The offensive problems plaguing this team from day one of the Harbaugh era remain. No sense of urgency in getting plays off quickly, using up all of the play clock and more, red zone inefficiencies, and the inexplicable inability to make any kind of offensive adjustments on the fly.
This season it became insanely apparent as the 49ers were able to score pretty well in the first halfs of games, scoring an average of 13 points in the first half, and sucking down to an average of 5 points in the 2nd half of their games this season. This leads me to believe these coaches can game plan during the week pretty well, but when teams adjust things at the half, the 49ers don’t counter the changes they face, and end up fading as the defense ends up playing too much in the end. The 3 wins over NO, NYG, and Washington all followed this path, and the losses to Chi, AZ, Seattle, StL, and Oakland followed this deal. Early leads given up in the 2nd half.
The defense has been able to keep these games close over the years, but not this year. This year’s offense seemed bound and determined to abandon the run completely, and the results are pretty obvious to see. No continuity, massive substitutions and motion, all destined to use up play clock and stow down the offense. The same inane pass plays. Outs and fades. Nothing over the middle anymore. No screens, no slants, nothing to slow down the relentless pressure Kaepernick faced. To the tune of the most sacks in the league.
The game tomorrow? All I can hope for is no injuries as we play out the string.
Unca- I have not read your new article but I did read the first paragraph.. I’ll read the rest in the morning. I will say, let the SOB go faster than greased lightning. I now want his ass out of here. Let me say this this before some idiot calls him a Hall of Fame coach, He needs an ass whipping and a humble new beginning. By ass whipping, I mean mentally. His attitude is not what it takes to win a Super Bowl. He thinks he is the alpha dog. He will learn some day he doesn’t own the team. This will be the most important thing he will learn from here on out as a coach of an NFL team. At this point he might belong in college.
I love what Jed is doing. If we take a step backwards next year, so be it. We need strong leadership and it starts at the top. Harbaugh fucked up when he decided he was more important than the entire package, FO included. Go away dick. Learn. It will be important for his next job An epiphany many 1st time coaches need to learn..
Has there ever been a worse offensive coordinator than Greg Roman? He might be worse than Cam Cameron. I would rather have Jim Hostler over Roman.
Now that’s saying something, I wouldn’t go as far as Jimmy hat, but it’s close,
My “epiphany” for the season……..Total BLEEP!
WOOF!
Hopefully there is a solid plan in the works. Kappy has to improve for anything to work. And,unless the new incoming coaching staff is inept I doubt we will see much of a setback compared to this year. I don’t see Jed being a Snyder or a Jones but he has to take a share of the blame for this year. For a HC and a GM to be at odds like ours seem to be then someone is overstepping their bounds, each man has a job to do. My guess is it’s Harbaugh.
Harbaugh has proven to be an ass.
Your last comment came at 11:11 this morning. Numerologists consider that time to not only be lucky, but also a time of spiritual awaking where you are one with the world. Many also claim that 11:11 has angelic powers combined with the perfect universal synchronicity that will even make your wishes come true.
Give it a try. Next time you see 11:11 on the clock, wish that Jim Harbaugh would stop being a complete asshole. I’m going to wish that Santa brings Jimbo an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!
I hope he shoots his fucking eye out.
I’ll be most interested in two things tonight; 1) the effort put forth. Entire team gave 100% last week up in Seattle. Hope to see the same tonight. 2) number of 49er Faithful butts in their seats. Eliminated or not, first full season at Levi’s is sold out and I expect (hope) all the seats are filled. This new stadium and its HF advantage leave a lot to be desired. Never thought I’d be wishing they stayed at the ‘Stick. But it’s looking that way…
Go Frank!
When I yelled, “Go Frank!,” I woke up my cat. Now Frank’s sitting on my kitchen table giving me the evil “Cat’s eye.”
Frank needs to give the Chargers the evil Cat’s eye when it comes to tackling.
They whiff more than Dave Kingman.
Speaking of whiffs, nice fumble Bruce Miller. Right at the goal line no less.
Jesus H. Christ. The atrocious tackling in the NFL continues to amaze me.
Nick Moody is the latest culprit. Pathetic.
Rob loves him some Cox!!!!!!!!
182 yds on offense in the 1st Q.
Give Greg Roman a raise and an extension!
amazing
Well there ya go. No pressure. Where were these quick passes the last 4 weeks?
same injuries etc yet the team plays loose and moves the ball, yeah sure, it’s all about the players.
All this great play tonight is only leading to a worse draft pick in May.
This team can’t win for losing.
you prefer a loss Dennis? Also, go to see a game at the new stadium, you may change your opinion.
happy to see Patton and Ellington in the mix, Miller is looking like Rathman except for the tough fumble.
Nice safety help by Craig Dahl filling in for Reid.
We *deserve* every TD given up when #43 is on the field.
Worst cover safety in the history of the NFL. But he does make the sure tackle after giving up the 3rd and 20 completion.
If you can’t appreciate a good game by your team , then don’t bother. Chickenshit.
263 yds in the first half. When want to keep RoBaugh now?
Then don’t bother. It’s all bullshit.
There only playing inspired tonight, to help get Gore another 1,000 yrd season as he wraps up his career as a Niner.
They are noy playing all uptight, pressure is off.
Tonight puts Frank in position to get that 1,000.
heck of a achievement, 8 x 1000 yd seasons.
And that’s why Kappy will be the guy for years!
Kap faked out Weddle so bad his jock strap is still dangling at midfield. What a run of 90 freakin yards!!!
I’m sorry, but no quarterback in the league can be a successful “pocket” passer with the kind of pressure Kaepernick faces on seemingly every play. I know that’s an exaggeration, but it’s become comical, like some sort of twisted Keystone Kops sketch. The guy just made a brilliant play after nearly being dropped again. As soon as he reaches his drop, he’s go two Chargers in his face. Doing what he did is amazing.
Unless the line is addressed, things will be the same next year. What a dismal season for the 49ers OL.
fuck the season but this is a great pic
You can’t go out of bounds there. That’s the kind of football smarts that Kaep lacks too often.
Stupid play call as well. Why run anything towards the sideline in that situation? Lack of football smarts by your OC is pathetic.
How can you expect your QB to make smart decisions when your OC is an idiot?
Is it any wonder why I’m pissed about the play calling?
I think we all are, Chuck. It’s been a long time since a 49er coaching change has been needed so badly. Okay, not that long, but Roman needs to go bye bye big time.
Couldn’t agree more John
another nail biter with all these turn overs and a near franchise record for running yards. Crazy game.
We’re leaving tonight
The Niners are basically running a third team defense right now.
Overtime with the Chargers at home……..what a crappy season.
Two pretty evenly matched teams. Neither one of them all that great. It’s been a pretty entertaining game, although I feel mostly emotionally detached from it.
NFL officiating sucks these days.
That Raider loss killed the Niner’s season.
One positive thing about this season: no matter what happens, the Seahawks, or the Patriots, or both of them, won’t be winning the Super Bowl this year.
Why do you say that?
I really really really don’t like the Seahawks and the Patriots.
I can dig that.
This cursed season can’t end soon enough. Jesus H Christ.
Ok I don’t care to look up this guy’s name on the roster #23? Going out for the OT coin toss with Kap, but I thought they brought a fan from the stand out there..hilarious you never saw the hippie’s name on his back!!
The Niners are in that mode of finding creative new ways to lose. Harbaugh has come full circle. This was the Niners before he came to the team.
BLEEP! Another pathetic loss.
Patton fumble the final contribution.
Total embarrassment. Complete and utter shameful franchise at the moment.
That’s a little over-stated. They didn’t embarrass themselves tonight. They played an entertaining close game on national TV. They entertained a lot of people. They’re one game under .500. It was a mediocre season. The Chargers aren’t all that good either.
If you don’t HATE Jim Harbaugh and his team right now, you don’t care enough.
Fuck Jim Harbaugh and every fiber of his being. Loathsome POS.
One thing I would agree with there; I didn’t care all that much about tonight’s game. And once the SF Giants won their 3rd World Series in 5 years, the trials and tribulations of the ’14 Niners faded off my radar screen quite a bit.
I hope the Niners can retool and become a playoff contender next season.
Merry Christmas!
Regarding the Eagles game- what’s with coaches being afraid of letting the other team score when that team is just running down the clock to kick a chip-shot fieldgoal? The Eagles could have let Washington score, and then gotten the ball back with a minute left, to try to tie the game and go into overtime. But no, letting the other team score in a strategic move is just too outside the box for the robot coaches in the NFL. They’d rather just let the other team run the clock down and kick the game-winner. And now the Eagles are just about eliminated from the playoffs.
21 pt. lead at the half and we have a mook of a QB who doesn’t know when to stay in bounds. And Nipper wishes me a Merry Christmas. Unmotherfuckingbelievable.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
Franchise record 355 yds rushing yet we somehow still come out on the short end.
Fucking Rod Serling couldn’t write scripts this unbelievable and bizarre for “The Twilight Zone.”
Hated the team more with Erickson, Nolan and Singletary as the coaches Dennis!!!
Atleast Harbaugh brought them back to respectability again as a franchise, with SB apperance, 2 championship games etc. Stupid of this org to let every one bicker about each other.Should have never happened, really wish rJed Dork would just sell out, which of course the little brat won’t!!
His fucking Dork daddy, knew jackshit about football as well, fucking pathetic having brainless owners getting involved with decsions with org moves and players! the real good owners in the league just stay out of the way, kick back at their prestigious Golf Country Club and leave the major decision to their competent GM and their coaching staff!!
Respectability? Since Harbaugh’s arrival we’ve lead the NFL is number of arrests and the team just released a serial rapist. That’s one helluva respectable operation Harbaugh’s been coaching over there.
Yeah, the three fumbles were the issue in this game but not the reason we are 7-8. Our biggest problem is a lack of a pass rush. We win vs Chicago, St Louis, Phoenix and tonight if we have any pass rush. Any stupid idiot can bring up other reasons we lost those games but the common denominator in all 4 is a lack of a pass rush. With those 4 wins we would have 11 and be in the play-offs. Defensive lines win championships.
I forgot the Oakland game. That was probably our worst pass rush all year and it made the rookie QB look great. Take the exact same team that we have and add a pass rush and we most likely have 12 wins right how.
It looked to me that we were calling one play in the huddle and Kap made about 4 or 6 audibles. For the first time this year we had some rhythm to the play calling. This calling two plays in the huddle is just too complicated.
In the end, Harbaugh found another way to lose.
I say Harby found another way to lose but his lack of a pass rush was really just more of the same.
Change the name to the Santa Clara 49ers. May as well they do not resemble the SF version at the Stick.
Well the quick passes sure dried up in the 2nd half. SD played it tighter up close and our response was to run right into it, As usual we had no response for their 2nd half adjustments.
The lack of pass rush was terrible. If not for the gift INTs, well, i don;t know, we would have lost anyway,
The 3 fumbles and two called back TD passes is what killed us the most in this game. having said that, we still win if we have a better pass rush.
I didn’t see the VD TD that was called back. The one before Kappy’s fumble. Just found out about it now. Oh well. I figured theyd lose this one, just not quite in this epic a fashion. 21 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Even with all the backups on defense, that shouldn’t happen.
What I loved was after the 3rd 2nd half TD, we go run run run punt. Brillliant.
Nothing like playing to lose there.Jimbo.
I want to find out the name of the Asian guy that Kaepernick got to take his Wonderlic test for him. Now way in hell does a guy that doesn’t know to stay in bounds late in the game to keep the clock rolling score a 37 on his own.
Not a great move on his part but that play had ZERO chance of working.
If you don’t want the runner to go OB, DON’T RUN A FUCKING PLAY THAT IS DESIGNED TO GO TO THE SIDELINES. That was a designed run that got strung out and stopped.
Roman should be shot. That was the most pathetic turtle job I’ve seen, in a season full of turtle jobs by Harbaugh and this offense, Yeah the defense sucked. Esp in the 2nd half, but the Niners offense did them no favors by getting 3 first downs in the 2nd half.
Well if Kap’s so smart, he should have changed the dump play call in the first place. Last time I checked QBs are still allowed to audible in this league.
Not to mention that Harbaugh had the right of first refusal as he gets the call from Roman then relays it to Kap from the sideline. Horrible play call by Roman. Horrible decision by Jimbo to not overrule it. And an equally horrible decision by Kap to stick with it.
They ALL suck.
It is hard to argue with Del’s logic on that play. Bad play call, bad decision to run out of bounds. Why would a coach even call a play designed to go to the sideline in that situation. Bad play by Kap to go out, worse call by the coach to run that play in the first place. Checkers vs chess. The way Gore was picking up yards the ball should have gone to him. The coach just outsmarted himself again.
That play would not have mattered if we had a pass rush.
I’ll take fangio or shanahan as head coach next year
No matter the HC and staff next season, Niners looking like a non-playoff team. Defense should be OK, but they really need to load up on D lineman that can rush. And, OL again. Oh, and WRs. Oh, and another RB to help out Hyde. No, Frank does not need to come back, despite yesterday’s efforts. Need to get way younger, faster at RB. Kap gets one more season to figure out how to get to a second read with an OC that doesn’t have play calls as long as War and Peace. What kind of offense never can beat a blitz on third down? Time to reset this team…
IMO the Niners look like the 4th team in the NL West heading into next season. They’re getting old, fast. Bowman and Willis are questionmarks. Rams are way on the upswing — if they can get a QB, they are in the hunt for a division win or WC. Cardinals there already. I don’t see the Shawks declining, unless Lynch goes somewhere, which he might, even then, their defense is too good. I don’t think it will be Sing or Nolan ugly, but it looks like a lean year or two ahead…
BLEEP UGLY?
The silver lining in his season is the young guys and the backups got a ton of playing time and played well, in some cases amazingly well. When the starters come back this team will have unheard of talented depth.
Anyone catch the comments from Bill Cowher on the Pre-Game Show, regarding the Coaching turmoil in SF?
In a nutshell, he suggested that the HC, (any HC) should learn the pecking order and, not attempt to circumvent it’s structure.
Plenty of good debate surrounding this years’ shortcomings but, Jed obviously hired Baalke to run the show.
Nothing works, when there are too many Chiefs and not enough Indians.
I still can’t wrap my head around the stat that we fail to have success in the 2nd half of games on Offense.
Defenses adjust, we fade away.
Even the Raiders are winning at home! ……Santa Clara is a jinx.
Hey Berger –
As I continue to dig through the Draftees, take a look at DE Alvin Dupree from KY.
6’4″ 267 / 4.65
Depending on where he grades out, he might be worth some consideration, along with Shelton for our D-Line come Draft time.
From the looks of the current projections, the strengths in the range of 15-20 lean toward Defense.
Good crop of projected WRs there too.
All that will change over the coming months.
The Raiduhs can’t even get losing right. They’re winning meaningless games, and blowing the top pick that they could have traded for a fistful of picks to stock up. Way to go, Raiduhs…
Berger –
One guy I’d like to see hanging on the Draft Board for us is CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu from Oregon.
He’s a small dude but I think he’d be an immediate starter at CB for us.
He’s about the size of TBrock and maybe more physical.
He could be around in the middle of RD1, we’ll see?
I’ve seen him play. He’s good.
Omg i hope harbaugh doesn’t go to Michigan. We need draft picks
According to the bald dude Harbaugh is gone within 48 hours of the last game. His ass fired! What a fall from grace!
That appears to be what Harby is pushing for.
I saw Bill Cower make a comment on the pre-game about Harbaugh. He was talking about how sometimes a coach has a good situation and doesn’t appreciate it enough. He also talked about getting along with the FO. I forget the exact words but it was mostly about how Harby might end up regretting his self induced departure.
Not if he goes to michigan. He’d be Jesus jr.
there.
There was a huge change Saturday in the play calling by the coaching staff. It was obvious they changed how they deliver plays calls to the field. We got most snaps off with over 10 seconds on the play clock. I am guessing that they called one play in the huddle instead of two and allowed Kap to audible. I did see him audible a few times for the first time this year. Whatever it was, what a difference. We scored 28 points on offense and could have easily scored more if not for penalties and fumbles. It looked like the players were playing instinctively instead of trying to think out the play call. Play calling does matter and this game showed. Let us see how it works next week to verify the success but doesn’t it figure that RoBaugh would learn this just before their departure. My guess is they go back to the old system next week for olde tyme sakes and to prove they really didn’t understand what they did this game.
Del- I have a 49ers Original, Son’s of Harbaugh T-shirt. If you want to wear it I’ll send it to you. I won’t be wearing it.
Yeah, wouldn’t it be something that they figured out how to get plays into the huddle 63 games into their 64 game tenure.
Some don’t want to believe the truth but that is part of play calling. It starts with the coaching staff. They choose the delivery system, the players then carry out the orders whether they are “dumb” or not. Having a system that is easier to execute makes it easier for the players to execute the orders. Funny how that works. Some fans will just never know because the only thing they are worried about is being right instead of knowing what is right.
I’m hoping Frank Gore gets at least 71 yards rushing on Sunday so he can reach the 11,000 yard mark.
There already ready to talk with DC Dan Quinn from the Shithawks for the gig, think he would be a good choice.Besides you can’t beat em have someone join us. Strum up the “Mighty Quinn Music”
Well as much as it sucks to lose. it was a very entertaining game. scored more that 3 and 7 points. TD runs and passes. all in all one of the best games to watch. IMO. yes, yes, winning is the ultimate goal. But after watching this offense flounder for 14 games it was nice to see the offense put it together for a change.
For a half anyway. The mantra of this season.
PFT is reporting that the day McDonald allegedly sexually assaulted a woman the two were drinking all day with Aldon Smith.
Wonderful. He’ll be suspended all next year now.
Harbaugh when he’s fired should be……..
A. Getting a lame phone call from Jed stating “we’re going in another direction. Thanks for your service, Jim.”
B. Tell his wife he’s fired and let her convey the joyous news. “Honey we’re free at last!”
C. Tell ESPN and let the news out on the air in middle of the night. Let Jim get what he deserves!
D. Give Jim a going away gift card on all 49er’s gear. At least half off.
Better make it a gift card from Walmart on his pants Nip,Dickies&Dockers half off!!
Harby just got a gift card from the Cards. They are starting the rookie Thomas at QB.
They should have started him yesterday. Linsey was awful.
I was a huge Harbs fan and got off him this year when it became clear that he couldn’t adjust to adversity. He’s got an autistic quality about him and you just can’t do the same thing over and over and pretend it’s all going to work out. He was great when it was “Who’s got it better than us” times but anyone can win and look good. He started losing and, really, he had no response other than the same stuff…..
So I’m fine with him leaving. But as a Niner fan I am deathly afraid of who will replace him. York has a pretty horrendous record on head coaches BEFORE Harbs. And it’s all about the W right? This cat is 43-19-1.
So to all the guys who rail on him incessantly, who do YOU want to replace Harbaugh that will go BETTER than 43-19-1? Serious question. I doubt I’ll get a serious answer since most of the Harbaugh-hate is just about hating and nothing else.
Since I have been OK with Harby staying until a couple of days ago when it was reported that he is mulling Michigan or a pro job, I don’t know that he is still mentally even here. My premise has been to just fire Roman and get a competent OC.
But since you are asking for names all I can do is throw some out which I have previously done. Jed is young and smart. Hopefully he is learning. Right now as Harbaugh is leaving we appear to be in the same situation as when he arrived. He needs to move on while he still has leverage. I am not convinced that this quagmire hasn’t been orchestrated by Harbaugh. After all it was reported early in the year the players did not want to play for him anymore. It is quite possible he wanted to get fired so he still gets the safety net of 5 mil guaranteed. If true he now will get his wish.
Be afraid Flavor. Somewhere Sing is laughing secretly.
I’ve said ore than a few times Pete Carmichael, NOs OC would be a good choice. He’s done a good job w/Brees.
Also Pep Hamilton, Indy’s OC, although there’s backlash around here regarding him.
Today at his presser Harbaugh looked like a man who knows what his future is already. A few weeks ago he looked like a defeated man and his QB followed suit. Lately he looks relaxed and at ease and his QB does too. Make no mistake, Kap is Harbaugh’s guy.
To repeat what I said above, he came here while we were a losing team and in some turmoil with a coaching change. We get a report at the beginning of the year that his players don’t want to play for him. Nobody wanted to believe the report. His star WR opens the season wearing blue shoes while we play the Cowboys. What was that about? The players are playing hard but many have called out the rhythm and dumb schemes most of the 2nd half. It isn’t often you hear star players calling out the coaches by the multiples. Hello, is anybody listening?
Some of the losses have to do with injuries but when players wear the opposing teams color shoes and call out the coaching schemes it isn’t good. It looks like the success curve is on the downward arc and Jimbo is leaving us just as he got us, with a losing record and uncertainty. It was a nice run but as they said would happen when we hired him, he has ran his course. I think if he stays it is more of the same mess, maybe even worse next year. Harbaugh needs a change of scenery and it is looking like the 49ers do to.
Good post Berger, sad to say it appears to be a mutual parting of the ways. As you said, it has run its course. Too bad they didn’t quite make it, could be a while before they get back there.
The next coach won’t have as much of a winning % but I don’t worry much about that, I just want a Super Bowl win. He’ll have 4 years if comparing to Harby.
I hope Fangio sticks around as HC or DC and either way they pull in a modern era OC.
I don’t mind getting a defensive minded coach if he has the sense to hire a good OC and step out of the way. Boles and Quinn come to mind as candidates names that have been bandied about.
Since we don’t know the language involved with Harbaughs’ Contract, it’s tough to know how this perception of walking away with $5M plays out.
Seems to me Jed isn’t giving away that sort of money without some sort of leverage.
IMO, Jed put Baalke in place to run the football side of the Operation.
If Jim and Trent can’t see eye-to-eye on how this Team should be assembled, what’s the point of prolonging the agony?
Players are openly frustrated with the results of getting to the dance and, failing to achieve the prize.
Time to fish or cut bait.
Painful as it is, to see success fall short, it’s pretty obvious that there needs to be improvements, especially on the Offensive side of the spectrum.
If I had to speculate regarding the rumor of a swift decision being made, I’d guess Jim plans to recoup that money from Michigan?
We’ll hear soon enough I guess.
Seems to me Jim is all about running the show ‘his’ way.
Whatever the stories are behind the scenes, I don’t ever recall seeing a disparaging word come from Jed regarding the dismissal of McCloughan.
Many speculated that it was an alcohol related scenario.
It’s a multi-million dollar business, it needs continuity to run successfully.
When things disrupt the balance, changes need to be made.
For all the shortcomings associated with Vernon this season, I give him credit for comments he made suggesting ‘he came here to catch passes’.
Either he’s frustrated with Kaep or, the system in general.
Draw your own conclusions on what was intended with those remarks.
Something else to speculate on, perhaps?
The addition of OT Jon Martin.
Baalke’s call or Jim’s?
Could there have been some ulterior motive tied to the absence of Anthony Davis for as long as occurred in favor of JMartin?
To that topic, I’ve also felt that LMJ was a Harbaugh request as well.
I recall reading a comment that Jim hated to game plan against him while at Stanford hence, he held him in high regard.
Again, purely speculation on my part but, it does make me think about some of the dynamics that may have played out, with the discord attached to the Jim/Trent relationship.
With the Warriors playing so well and the Giants winning a World Series it is easy to not get too bogged down about the 49ers this year. Jed needs to pull a Joe Lacob this off-season. Fire a popular winning coach and replace him with somebody better. Like the Warriors, our depth should be better next year with all the back-ups getting so much playing time this year.
Berger it’s just sad this had to come to this.
As you’ve said, Jed was forced to make a decision between 2 guys that can’t come to an understanding on what needs to be done.
We’ve sucked before.
We got a taste of the Playoffs as well.
Unfortunately, as good as our Defense has been, the Offense couldn’t get it done when it mattered.
Playing the blame game serves no purpose now.
Back to the drawing board, regroup, retool, refocus.
Hopefully, lessons have been learned for all concerned.
I agree. The blame game doesn’t get us anywhere. The people in the know said this would happen with Harbaugh in about 4 years. Obviously they were right. Too bad Jimbo could not deliver a title. Like the coaches like to say about injuries, it’s next man up.
Depending on what transpires next week, regarding the Coaching changes, I’d keep Rex Ryan on the radar for a DCo, if Fangio can’t be retained.
He’s competent for a 3-4 scheme IMO.
Bringing back an old NJ/SF guy like Dan Quinn wouldn’t be a bad thing either.
We’ll see where all this hubris settles soon enough.
For now there’s only one thing left –
In Memory of Buddy ‘Bugs’ Henderson….
Heartbreak Gumbo –
People getting fired, people dying, and Santa is missing my abode again…….BLEEP IT! Where’s my beans and wieners? Some cheap wine and I’m good to go.
Gotta love Twitter

Good attempt. But Raiders sent stripper-gram … @umichfootball: Happy Birthday, Jim. #GoBlue
I still have a little space left that wants Harbaugh back if he would just see the light about his offense. I think that ship has sailed inre to him staying.
At Michigan he can run his college offense but if he stays in the pros he will need to develop a better scheme. If some miracle happens and he stays I will support him but be very skeptical about his offense, to the point of being loud. Since it looks like we are getting a new coach let the event happen. I hope we do good. Just remember, in 49erland the only goal is the Lombardi Trophy. Just winning is entertaining but not good enough. Any Eddie D fan knows that is true.
One more thing. If the report is true Harby is mulling other offers and already checking out then I want him out of here ASAP. Since I personally do not know the truth I’ll just sit back and wait it out. Like I said before, I hope we do good!
Happy Birthday to coach Harbaugh!
He’s gone in mind and spirit. Only the body remains. He’s got to make more money than his older brother no matter what.
Ha, just checked the espn league and found I won it. That’s different. At this point we need to stop the bleeding. We are a dysfunctional org. and blaming anyone for it is not gonna change anything. We will know soon enough if our young leader is sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong or not. We are probably going to lose quite a few players this year and to be honest, so what. I am praying that Bowman, Hunter, and a few others can make it back. To me the biggest problem area is OL & DL but that’s still just the tip of the iceburg. To me trying to compare a new HC to Harbaugh would not even be possible. I am waiting and would be happy to see some fun and interesting 49er football.
Harbaugh gets a lot of credit for winning. But he inherited a very good team. Say what you will about Pete Carroll, but he and his org built it from ground up.
McLoughan looks more and more like the architect of both these franchises. With some line stability and s more offensive minded coach and this team should be fine. Granted they get some speed.
A lot of onconsisyency all around this team. Due to many factors.
New thread is up…..
