Game Day # 16! Gateway to the Playoffs

For the only week of the year, all of the NFL games are scheduled for Sunday. And if there ever was a week to have 16 TVs to watch all the games, this would be it. In the NFC at least, just about all the playoff spots are in a state if flux, and the idea to make the last weekend all divisional games had paid off in spades. The NFC East and NFC North have play-in games as Dallas, minus Tony Romo, squares off with Philly, and Chicago faces Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers at Soldier Field. Carolina, Seattle, and the 49ers all have a shot at getting the 1 seed. AFC? Ehhh. Don’t care at this point. Brady and Manning look to meet again if the script follows the pattern. Indy and Cincy might have something to say about it, but I doubt it. KC? Alex Smith? One would think the AFC wildcards are a quick exit. We’ll see. The combo of Miami or Balt don’t scare anyone either. The NFC? Well, whoever the wildcards are look to beat the North and East champs handily.

Anyhow, back to AZ. They started badly, but have re-inserted themselves back into the playoff race by winning 7 of their last 8, including a beat-down of the Colts, and most recently a fairly stunning road win over Seattle in the house that noise built. AZ is throwing the ball a ton, and is overcoming the 21 picks by Carson Palmer simply by throwing more. As evidenced by their win over Seattle where Palmer threw 4 picks and still won. Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd lead the way. Both are close to 1,000 yards, and both account for nearly all of their TDs in the air. Defensively AZ is fast and tough. They have the # 1 rush defense in the league and are 6th overall in yards per game given up. LBs Karlos Dansby and John Abraham are leading a group that has improved as the season has rolled on.

All that being said. I think AZ has been playing for their lives for a long time. Running on adrenaline too long, and will come back to Earth. Niners win 28-20. I also think the Rams manage to contain Russell Wilson and take Seattle at home. 2 seed and the bye. Book it.

Lets hog the ball and run (sorry Kevin) this out

And a really poor punt just when we did not need that gives them good field position. One of Andy Lee’s few bad kicks this year.

NF, 2nd and 23 and you are running the ball!! And it gets you no where so yes I will complain about every running. And show me where I am wrong about Harbaugh n going for the win. The Niners have not scored since the 1st quarter!! That is playing not to lose!!!

  4. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Walsh would at least get FG’s out of downs!!

  5. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

The game turned on those 3 and outs in the 2nd quarter when we did not convert on third and short in the Jumbo. that let AZ get back into it after it looked like they were going to get buried.

Now we’re tied with no one to blame but ourselves.

Crappy defensive play on that entire drive. No more complaining about getting passed over for the pro-bowl votes.

Started with the untimely bad punt.

Tired defense, and all the momentum is on AZ’s side right now.

Kappy may need to make a big play on offense to win this, or else Palmer will.

Yes, Virginia, we can still be #6 and mebbe play Philly.

  8. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

You have to run… I’m just not happy with running out of the Jumbo. Spread the field and let Gore run to daylight. Letting them load the box against us inside just does not work often enough.

  9. I think that TD call stands. Why can’t you guys get behind me and say we’re better off losing and then how bout dem Cowboys!

Easiest WC matchup for us BY FAR. It’s what’s best for The team. The team. The team.

  10. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

There is no way this should go into OT, 3:20 is plenty of time to win this!!! Let’s see if Harbaugh has a pair.

  11. We’re better off losing. Take a dump.

  12. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

Chiefs 1st string kicker misses the chip shot game winner! Andy should’ve gone with the 2nd stringer.

  13. KC missed the GW FG as time expired. Overtime.
You know why? It’s Alex Smith’s fault.

  14. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

2 plays called every time and no huddle

  15. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

Our O-line looks awful – but Kappy has made a couple of good throws while running for his life.

  16. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

3rd and 2. Need to convert here.

  17. And that’s why we DON’T want to play GB and Aaron Rodgers.
    We’re better off losing today.

  18. Grumpy Guy's avatar Grumpy Guy says:

THAT was a Hell of a kick right there. THAT was a ballsy call by Harbaugh on that one.

  19. rtfirefly's avatar rtfirefly says:

GB TD on 4th and 8 midfield.

    See you in Green Bay!
