Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

Back on track to lose 100. Any other season, this loss might be a real backbraker. This season, just another ho hum cratering in the late inning(s). It’s almost not fair, RSox have real major leaguers, Giants have young guys with eyes bugging out at Fenway, and mostly AAA talent.

I see the underlying team offense stats are finally starting to reflect the abysmal run production and match the reality of the pitching numbers. It’s a relief for me. If they’d stayed on track with the totally bizarre mismatch between above league average OPS and runs scored, I’d have been forced to argue the Giants aren’t really as terrible as all the losses show.
Just use your “eyes” James, e.g., at the beginning of the season you thought Arraez was shit due to his supposed crummy OPS . . . He disproved that notion all season.
Come on, don’t insult me with that lame “use your eyes” critique. I watch the games as carefully as anybody.
Arraez has never been “shit” and a life time OPS of 780 has never been “crummy.” That OPS also pretty much sums up his offensive value. He’s had a couple of seasons where he’s been an average player, despite the impressive batting averages. He might still have a few more of those in him as he gets older.

Unca is doing a great job on the blog, but the current “search parameters” make it nearly impossible to find your post from early in the season, when you essentially described him as a mediocre player, citing his OPS as being poor. I stand by what I said earlier.
I made the comment about his OPS numbers in previous seasons on the Flap. Maybe you can use your expertise with “search parameters” on the archive to find it and re-read it.
