! ! ! ! Can’t get any lower. Still I feel I’m sinking ! ! ! !

Outshined by Chris Cornell and Soundgarden. The theme song for your SF Giants 2026 team.

In a season full of pitching debacles and crushing losses, they managed to pull one out for the ages.

Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.

Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.

I guess the lockout is a blessing.

For Dolly . . .

    Or even Tug McGraw:

“I spent 90% of my money on good times whiskey and women and wasted the rest.”

“Do you prefer playing on astroturf or grass?”

    “I don’t know. I never smoked astroturf.”

He and Bill Lee would have been a kick in the ass to hang with.

apparently tugboat is a deceptive sidewinder or something. Should be done video out there.

Perhaps just for self preservation, I’ve decided that I am absolutely fine with whatever happens the rest of this season, while also feeling optimistic for… 2028. Yeah, next year looks like another wash out and might not even happen anyway. Charlie, funny, more than once I thought about posting Channel Z during the Z era…

As for the big 3 bad contracts, I wouldn’t lump Devers in with Chappie and Adames. He actually produces. Or at least is entertaining (see yesterday’s 2 splashes in the same at bat). Also, technically, Buster didn’t dole out that contract, he gulped and swallowed it figuring it would be worth it in the trade. Remove Devers from this team, and it’s even more pathetically boring than it already is….

I see whiz opened the game with a 4 pitch walk .. nice.

I just popped online to see the score.

8-1, Cleveland cruising. Whiz and his changeup got hammered. Looks like some usual Keystone Kops fielding by the Giants, too. The usual Pen fire, fairly small but there nonetheless. The usual laughable game.

Oh, well, another one down on the way to 30 under .500.

    Later…

Heliot now 3-36 as a Yank. PBP guy said he plays the outfield like he’s on skates…

happened to see a Marcello Mayer AB in Sac just now. Worked the count full but swung over a sharp slider. He looks ready.

Looking forward to his arrival. He won’t be no savior, but he’ll likely be better than just about anybody else being thrown out there…

      • xoot's avatar xoot says:

Brennan (2HRs tonight) Furman and McCray are in the Sac line up. They’re more or less fungible with a few of the guys who played in Cleveland today. Nothing promising there.

      • xoot's avatar xoot says:

1HR and one double for Brennan. FWIW.

Star of the game appears to be a singing food vendor. Small crowd. The TV cameras seek him out.

Back at the start of the season, if I would’ve seen this as the starting lineup for a game in mid-August, I’m not really sure what I would have thought. Did the team plane crash and kill 80% of the players? Are they so far in front of other teams they’re just fucking around? Are they so far behind other teams they’re just completely fucked? I guess I’ll take door #3, Monte….

Wasn’t “skates” nickname for OF Lonnie Smith? Guy had 3 rings for 3 different teams, stole lot of bags.

Only 1 team in AL has scored fewer runs than offensively challenged Guards, yet they thrashed whiz yesterday for 9 hits 7 runs 6 earned in 4 innings. Almost Half the 23 batters he faced got on base. Giants coaching staff has access to same pitch fx data through analytics everyone else has, for velo movement spin rate etc–why does everyone not named Webb suck so often? Can they not help anyone?

    Adames is in today’s LU.

just look at whiz’s grip on that change.
