Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

mlb salvaged the bums from the McCourt era and turned them into Yankees west. Purely marketing matters in mind. It worked. So, the franchise ownership crew owes a lot to the holding company managers. They’ll work out a cap compromise approach and the bums will fully support a lockout.
Owners argument for cap that there isn’t any parity is just wrong–both leagues have ton of teams with playoff hopes in last 2 months. sure there are few teams at top but lot underneath that could still sneak into playoffs. Once you’re in anything can happen as Giants fans well aware of.
LA doesn’t care about cap, they just pay whatever penalties accrue due to vast revenue stream and pay for whatever FAs they want. I do think there are owners that will push for floor, so that Pirates Twins owners of world put more into their teams instead of cashing in on revenue sharing.
But slashing minor league teams as they’ve already done and making it more difficult for players to get to arb plus restricitions on drafting HS players just wrong.
Tell that to the 93 Giants. Parity just means more and more playoff teams.
It does suck that the Dogpile can have the run on any elite player they want, but when you have a top 1-3 farm system every year with obviously superior scouts /international as well it all aligns up for them in sadly their quest for 3 straight W/S titles. And the players they gave up for Skubal are just easy throwaways when they have plenty of both OF depth( still have Tibbs of course the giants traded away and the Dogpile immediately snatched up)and loads of pitchers!
OF Hope could be the best prospect, Brady&Rivers? Pitchers with arm injuries already. So the Tigers got fleeced,then again in their minds a decent haul for a 2 month rental..and who’s to say the Dogpile like they always do will turn this 2 month rental in Skubal into the special deferred payment plan even before the season ends??
No surprise that LA grabbed up Skubal. I’m not even pissed at that. They are doing what the current MLB rules and their massive finances allow them to do. MLB and the greedy players and owners are moving towards a league where maybe 5 teams have a shot at actually winning the WS. Anyway, the real thing that angers me is that LA could not do these deals without a farm system just stocked to the gills. To get this trade done, they gave up 3 of the top 100 ranked prospects in MLB.
So, a team at the top of the standings every season for the last decade plus, thus near the bottom of the draft order every year, still has the ability to consistently draft and develop a ton of top notch prospects that they use to fuel their superior roster and their trades. The Giants? For the last decade+, a farm system generating essentially nothing, especially in comparison to LA. Despite being one of the top revenue teams in MLB, and owning its own stadium free of debt, and getting nearly 3 million butts in the seats every year. An objective record of absolutely pathetic drafting and development. That’s why I’ll wait to see how good these supposed great A and AA players turn out or how well other teams value them in trades.
Padres starting a LHP/Giants have 4 LHs in top 5 (Arraez back in there) and 6 in lineup overall. Even if the SP is just an opener they have 4 LHPs in pen and haven’t hesitated to use them in the series. Unless manager has burnt them all out, idk.
I don’t understand why Arraez is in the lineup. He should be traded later today or sometime tomorrow. Why risk injury and stop a trade at the absolute last minute? The team is going nowhere, he isn’t needed for this game for any reason, and has nothing to prove to enhance his trade value. It makes no sense to me whatever.
I hope his appearance in the lineup does NOT mean he is NOT getting traded. That just cannot happen.

3 walks by Roupp followed the 2 run dinger; Roupp is a head case. Any adversity and he just loses his S and cant throw a strike. 39 pitches in that inning, 52 pitches in just 2 innings. Tired of his S. If he’s the second best on the rotation, the Gyros are headed for 20+ games underwater.
Then, how do 2 Pads score on a ground ball that did not get out of the infield, dropped by Adames? Criminy, this team sucks in every way imaginable, and then some.
Now, the Giants batters go down in about 3 minutes. Always pisses me off. Roupp was out there forever, his teammates don’t do S at the plate to delay and give him a breather. Sign of a stupid, stupid team and field management…
Basabe or whatever his name is botches a throw third to first. Then, next hitter he fields a grounder OK, throws to Adames at second to start a possible DP, but Adames bobbles the catch and can’t make even an attempted throw to first to get the DP. Then, Cavanaugh easily loses an ABS appeal. Then, that runner at first steals second. Finally, Arraez makes a nice play on a hot, short hop grounder to end the inning with no blood spilled. Can this team get through one inning without making some kind of mental or physical mistake ? Just a clean, 1,2,3 inning on defense, and an offensive inning of smart play that scores even just one run without needing an HR to do it? Am I asking too much?
