Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

I don’t think Rodriguez screwed up Snarkk, your taught in little league to freeze on a line drive are a ground ball if you’re on 2nd if the ball is hit in front of you , u can easily get cut down at 3rd, he played it right imo, just kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, he was still going to be held at 3rd no matter what..

the Angels are right there with the Giants, pushing 1.8 million home attendance this season. Funny they cut the other Minasian anyway. But still…the post pandemic surge of popularity for mlb appears to be solid. The owners may believe that they can afford a strike or lockout, that they know just how they’ll bounce back again if necessary.
The Giants I sort of get. The Angels have been sucking forever.

No surprise Bader is MIA for a long time. Plantar fascitis is tricky and hard to predict recovery time. The dude is stealing money the first year of his deal. They can’t even move him with this going on. Complete bust of an acquisition, he’s not needed next year with all the young OFers needing roster space to play.

Baggs with nice column in TA about first game for top IF prospects Josuar Gonzalez and Luis Hernandez in action after being promoted, playing A ball in San Jose. Hernandez had highlight reel play from 3b foul ground throwing out hitter and later filled in at SS after Gonzalez left game early with some (minor apparently) leg problem.
Snarkk Blade and I had great time there years ago, fun small yard lot going on btw innings, family oriented. Good distraction from what’s going on elsewhere, and San Jose team has been doing very well overall. Good stuff.
the SJ G’s’ catcher Rod Barajas Jr, son of longtime mlb catcher and coach, looked good, especially for an 11th round pick. Hit two HRs iirc including a grand slam. The two teenagers did shine, as well. Game was televised.
NYT says final installment of Colson Whitehead Ray Carney trilogy “Cool Machine” is out. Looking forward to this.

my favorite Leonard character is Ernest Stickley Jr. Ryan’s Rules later retitled Swag for the supermarket swivelrack is really good imo. Sequel, Stick, is good, too.

Dang Led Zefferin wiped out Eldridge Devers and Schmitt rather easily. Rough series vs. Angels for Eldridge, 1-9. 2-20 over last 5, 1 double 9 Ks. ML pitching is learning experience.

Yes. Adames is always wrong when he challenges the inside strike called against him. He has zero clue about that pitch and mostly refuses to swing at it, while chasing the outside pitches in the dirt.
Looks like Giants may not sweep a series this season — Angels were candidates, but it didn’t happen. Whisenhunt — looks like a #5 pitcher, maybe. Too much reliance on change up and not a great fastball nor a third pitch — is his problem.
I’m hoping this time next Sunday that Posey has pulled off some trades. Arraez, Ray and a few bodies more. Ramos can go — there are enough minor league OFers jockeying for playing time to say adios to him and his tin glove and ragged arm. Lee? He can go, too, though I doubt he will. Adames and his worst defensive SS glove/arm in MLB would be a trade like a moon shot, hope they are trying, really hard. I want to see at least 4 players traded. I have a feeling Posey is going to pull the trigger on at least that many, he realizes this team is crap, and they desperately need pitching in the system…
Bottom line Giants do not have type of players to bring back meaningful short term pitching prospects. Only guys that would do so are Schmitt and Eldridge, guys they absolutely will not trade. Last year Posey acquired Jose Butto (injured) Tidwell (struggling AAA) and Vrieling (struggling in AA). that’s more level they would get back for rental like Arraez.
the young SP Hancock M’s are supposedly open to trading is not coming here for Heliot Ramos. Adames and the $150 mil owed him is completely toxic and Chapman still hasn’t been activated off IL. Chance either, let alone both, these guys move is slim and none.
There’s certain element of Giants fans here and elsewhere that just want to see different players than who we have, agreed. Problem is no one else wants most of them either and teams aren’t going to give up much of value for them.
by short term I mean ML ready to go, guys they could plug in right away that aren’t Tugboat quality. Once Ray goes they are pretty well stuck with Whiz and co. behind roupp and Webb.
