In a season full of pitching debacles and crushing losses, they managed to pull one out for the ages.
Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

My deadline wish list: extend Arraez, get it done. Of course trade Ray, ASAP, for good pitching prospects. And if they can find a team (hello Atlanta) to take Chapman or Adames with G’s paying half the salary, do it. Instead, we’ll probably see *some* trades but nothing major, maybe just adding some young pieces. Pitching pitching pitching….
Saw column where Arraez said if he is traded elsewhere, he still wants to play 2b, not 1b, like he has with Giants. Fair enough, he’s proven he can still be effective. Read something earlier where he said he’s open to talking to Giants about extension. Yeah hope this happens…let’s see what direction Posey takes at deadline.

Greetings from Seward, Alaska. Been up here in Alaska the past week on a vacation from retirement. Beautiful, awesome country. BIG country up here. Between Seward and Homer this past week, I’ve eaten more halibut than in probably the last five years. Fantastic. The only downside is the rain, more of it than sun. I heard Buster on KNBR this am via streaming— without saying directly, it seems clear Arraez will be dealt. Now, time to go back and see some more moose…

Those were really popular during my years in travel biz. iirc Blade’s mom went often. People also go up there for fishing; friends of mine got dropped in by plane or helicopter for few days and picked up later.
When I worked as a guide at the lodge on the Talachulitna River, summer 1975, our main pilot was a dare-devil who loved to shake up his passengers and people down below waiting for him to land. Nosedive buzzing, etc. Mad laughter. I had a couple of wild rides with him. He bragged to us one day that he’d flown Cannonball Adderley to another lodge some days earlier. (He admired the celebrity, but knew nothing about the music.) Within weeks, Adderley had the stroke that killed him. Probably just a coincidence, but I’ve always wondered.
Flew up to Anchorage, driving a rental car. Not into cruises, aka floating Petri dishes.

Wonder if Posey would consider parting with Lee for pitching to team in need of offense as opposed to Ramos. Over next 3 years he’s owed $65 mil. CF (real spot of weakness for team) isn’t an option for him and I don’t think he grades out well in RF either. Both Ramos and Lee currently have b/r WAR of 0.8, about 7th among position players. hmnn

I really liked Homer, Alaska, when I visited 25 years ago. May was my favorite month overall, though the aurora up north in October provided one of my best memories. (My older son’s birth in Anchorage on the shortest day of the year was better.) Take a rafting trip on the Talachulitna River. Guarantee it.
