Yes, the biggest blown 9th inning league in the 125 year history of the team. They were 2,208-0 when leading by 6 or more in the 9th. Til today.
Up 9-3 in the top of the 9th, the team could not even get an out before Cincy tied it. Bivans came in and really had no clue. Not sure why whoever the interim manager even was didn’t pull him a little faster, but I think it was pretty obvious Bivens didn’t have it. He gave up the longest home run into the cove that I’ve ever seen. Then again, Smith came in and nuked the joint. And the rest was errors, walks and general rookie ball crap.
I guess the lockout is a blessing.

A Gausman signing, OTOH, would have been nice, although to have sufficient impact, you still would have needed to add arms like Rodon and Snell. The reasons for not signing Gausman long term were obvious — mediocre track record, arm problems before 2021, declining fastball velocity and performance at the end of the 21 season, 30 years old. Risk aversion is generally a good thing.

Last Thursday was his regularly scheduled once per month interview on KNBR morning show. He was a no show, and Baer showed up instead to spout the usual nonsense and PR garbage. Hard not to conclude Buster and/or Baer and ownership were scared S-less of more Buster PR face plants re: scrutiny of the Giants’ Pride day and Dever’s finger waggling incidents. The no-show was weak stuff.
Being the organization’s VP of baseball means you have to deal with the press, the public. So far, Buster looks way out of his depth on that part of the job.
Yep. He’s still young, has little experience in the business world, and could be an introvert. Developing the skill to handle a crisis deftly, especially one in which you personally feel little sympathy for the “victims,” requires you to take some time observing others do the job and and consciously reflecting on how you’d handle it. Practicing at the last minute without the prior prep isn’t going to cut it, you’ll fuck it up.
I don’t think PR should be Byster’s job. WTF is POBO anyway? Define the role you’ve invented. Let Baer handle the mendacious bullshit. Or promote a smiley extrovert to be VPOBO. BFD.

I’m puzzled by the attendance success, but I get the impression that mlb has moved on from me and fans like me. The friend who used to give me her season tickets all the time finally quit, disappointed by the team and the front office but also just aging out, too. I got to know all of the other season holders in that sold out section. Most of them were my age or older.
somehow mlb came up with a viable new business plan during the down days of the pandemic and it seems to be making money now.
Looks like the Warriors have the inside track on signing Lebron. Hope so. He’s still an elite player, albeit, no longer a one-man freight train who can carry a defense for 48 minutes. Plus, Porzingis is back with the club on a 2 year $40 million contract. Also, I am not worried about news of Green opting out of his option, as I’m 99% certain he will sign a deal with the Ws, i.e., it’s all a plan to upgrade the roster elsewhere.

If the coach did that, and Bericoto just plain face planted, OK then. But, if he did not do that, he shares some blame. I have no idea who the first base coach is, and I really don’t care. That’s the simplest coaching job on the team, and the dude looks like he blew it…
