We seem to be in the holding pattern of 1 win, 2 losses as this bland flavorless season continues it’s slow march to oblivion.
Looks like the 1985 team of Jimmy Davenport is safe in the knowledge that they will continue to be the one and only 100 loss team in the 144 year history of the NY/SF Gothams/Giants.
I mean, 5 more wins out of 21 games shouldn’t be that hard. Right?

I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

(Maybe Flemming over explained it all; I had the sound off.) Schmitt and Eldridge never should’ve left the game unless they were hurt. Presumably Buster has an opinion. Wonder if he ever loses his temper?
Weirdness almost cost him in finale of Brewers series too when they made rally little too interesting. Schmitt and Eldridge have to stay in there.

There was story Posey was none too pleased with Bailey over 2 separate instances when same pitch was thrown half a dozen times late in games Giants lost (can’t recall who were pitchers involved). Next thing you know, Bailey is “available” and soon traded away.
Willie, yes, that was part of the reason. Specifically, the tension came to a head right before the trade during a disastrous doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. In the first game, Bailey called for nine straight sinkers from closer Ryan Walker against Bryson Stott, which resulted in a game-tying triple and a walk-off loss. In the nightcap, he called for seven straight splitters from Keaton Winn, resulting in another blown lead and a second walk-off loss.
Per the Chronicle, “Compounding the issue, former players and broadcasters noted that manager Tony Vitello and the coaching staff were frantically trying to get Bailey’s attention from the dugout to change the sequence, but they “couldn’t get his attention” behind the plate. This perceived stubbornness in game-calling severely damaged internal trust.”
Posey, a traditionalist when it comes to the position, firmly believes a catcher’s number one priority is handling and navigating a pitching staff. Bailey is known for a very laid-back, easygoing demeanor. On the other hand, Posey played with an intense, unyielding on-field focus. Observers noted that Posey simply wanted a completely different level of competitive intensity and leadership from the person anchoring his defense.
Regarding “pitch framing,” Buster thought it was over emphasized. In fact, Posey grew increasingly frustrated with the “optics” of Bailey prioritizing extreme pitch-framing techniques, which occasionally resulted in passed balls, rather than focusing purely on keeping the ball blocked and helping the pitcher find a rhythm.

@Blade: 2 weekends from now there will be big youth judo tournament in Spokane. Friend of mine will bring her daughter and nephew (3rd graders) to be in it. I’ve watched them train few times and impressed with footwork and balance they have when they spar. Cool sport.
You know, this might be something I can get Michele interested in. She’s too small for most sports. Moreover, not interested in them, other than dodge ball (lol). She’s been taking an extracurricular after school art instruction, that I am paying the school art teacher for. Been doing that the last 2 months. Anyway, I will ask her is she wants to go to this judo tournament, as she is out of school for the summer on Wednesday. Fast forward a little more than a month from now, we’re both off for SE Asia.

No, not coming up to Spokane myself. I plan to see them at Dojo (nakano academy Santa Clara) next Saturday where 3 or 4 them train regularly, which is good hour long workout on mat. The more advanced ones spar with one another for 3-5 minute intervals, rest and repeat. Far as I know for tournament kids are divided up by age and weight. Tournaments sound like day long zoo of competition in matches that only take few minutes at a time with points awarded for takedowns etc.
Wish some of my basketball players did this…might help their footwork on defensive slides, etc.

my older son started karate in Oakland circa early 90s when he was in elementary school, partly becz he was so small. He wound up with a second degree black belt and a hs gig teaching kids classes. The training and accomplishment inform him to this day. He held his own as a giants fan on the east bay playgrounds and in Oakland ll dugouts, too. ✌️I highly rec martial arts for small kids. Of course, not every sensei is del toro’s wonderful character from “one battle after another” but they’re out there.

when I first met my Stanford surgeon he pointed to my giants hat on a chair and said, we like that. A dodger fan we might just let bleed out. All of the residents and nurses in the room laughed uproariously.

My daughter is such a skinny thing, I worry about her breaking bones in most sports xoot (which perhaps I shouldn’t, since I have never broken a bone and I’ve been “skinny” most of my life, particularly in grade school). Anyway, Willie’s idea to attend this judo tournament might be a good idea, insofar as piquing her interest in the sport.
my older son had no broken bones. Younger, who did not pursue martial arts but who was bigger for his age and an excellent athlete, had several.

With you unc . . . I actually think he will amount to more than “something” if given a chance. Obviously, the issue is that there are only so many deck chairs on the Titantic. Grin. Seriously though, Cox was hitting .400/.453/.644 with six home runs and 27 steals (in 34 attempts) over 183 Double-A plate appearances. That is freaking awesome!
Cox has never posted anything close to these numbers in his previous three minor league seasons, and he is surely getting a lot of help from an eye-opening .464 BABIP. That said, Cox’s elite speed has helped him generate large BABIPs in the past, and he has drastically cut back on his strikeout rate to 16.9% in Double-A ball.
Maybe some here do not agree with this, but I absolutely love that Buster is going down to AA ball and bringing someone up. With the Giants historically, that just does not happen frequently, particularly with the hitters.

Putting cox in to run for Eldridge was probably a smart chancy move. Taking Schmitt out of the game was stupid.
