99 Losses or Bust

We seem to be in the holding pattern of 1 win, 2 losses as this bland flavorless season continues it’s slow march to oblivion.

Looks like the 1985 team of Jimmy Davenport is safe in the knowledge that they will continue to be the one and only 100 loss team in the 144 year history of the NY/SF Gothams/Giants.

I mean, 5 more wins out of 21 games shouldn’t be that hard. Right?

The number of 2 strike foul balls against Ray is really frustrating to watch. At 95-97, he was able to put hitters away.

I watched an inning of the river cats game yesterday. That check swing challenge system will shut down bad corner ump calls. They won’t ring up anything close. Can’t happen too soon.

Meant to post my catchers situation in the Unca’s Orphanage blog but it ended up in OTA.”.Orphans Tryouts Advancements”

Blade I want to salute you for your dedication LU “It’s not Rocket Science Stats” and it really isn’t that hard a fantastic analysis imo you presented!!

I might tweak it just a bit but both of us have it still better then Vitello…Arreaz &Lee for sure 1-2 , hello table setters with contact both raking as well.Devers? Frustrates me but undeniable bat speed so 3rd,just not sure 4 lefties in a row works for me ,So Schmitt bats 4th( his team leading HR’s play) Eldridge for sure 5th hell his bat speed might be faster then Devers!,Adames 6th only cause he has more power then Chappy,Chapman 7th,Susac/Haase 8th,Gilbert RHP only 9th, Bertchino ( sp)LHP ..

Whatever it’s the whole pitching staff that needs Spock’s Vulcan Mind Meld to improve are this team will always be stuck in the transporter not knowing if they will ever materialize again..

Yeah, and Spock had a mean 12-6 curveball. He was hell on the Klingons as they were free swingers, but the Romulans were more patient, they’d spit on the hook and had his number pretty often…

And those tribbles were hard to keep down. They scored at will.

One of most preposterous, and best, of the original Star Trek episodes. Loved the Roger C. Carmel character…

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

My bad, RC Carmel was not in that episode. Wiki says some other character actor dude was the purveyor of the tribbles. Still liked RC in his other episodes. Great voice. In high school, there was a teammate of mine on the track team with the last name of Tribble…

Quote of the day . . . Still laughing.

I was just about to say something similar. Ray isn’t doing Posey any favors in the trade market. This season, Ray consistently searches for the zone, seems like he’s always going 2-2 or 3-2 on batters before he can get them out, if he does. Too many long counts, too many foul offs. too many walks. His velo when it was 96+, he used to live on that chest high fastball for the strikeout. I wonder if he’s got a shoulder issue or something, or just getting aged. They still need to trade him, and see what they can get. Some rule applies so that if they do keep him all season and then somebody else signs him in the offseason, the Giants will get no compensatory pick. So, there really is no reason to NOT trade him now. Anyway, I wouldn’t re-sign him next year…

He’s 34 and could simply just be losing velocity.

  6. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah the constant foul balls and Wildness for Ray ( 4 walks adds up to 63 pitches thru 3 innings is not going to cut it.

    Chappy slam!!!

  8. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Giants are slammin’ their way back to .500 ????

Chapman joins the party ! 6 slams for the season so far…

  9. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Chapslam!! Number 6 for the team leading the Majors Wow 6-0 !!The Mind Meld is working!!

  10. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Chapman played in 53 games between his first and 2nd HR this season. Now, he’s hit 2 in the space of a couple of games. If he’s starting one of his two week hot streaks, time to take advantage of it…

    Break up the Giants !!!!

ten runs per game is one way to manage our shitty pitching.

  14. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Casey Schmitt says I want some of this action! 2Run Homer!!!8-0!!Giants tell Scotty we don’t need 30 minutes to start the warp drives today! 3 HR’s already hell yeah!!

  15. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Ray with an 8-0 lead and still walking dudes. WTF ?

  16. James's avatar James says:

Ray probably won’t be eligible for a win.

  17. James's avatar James says:

First time Eldridge has looked confused at the plate in a while. Looking for junk twice after the 90 mph nobody got the corner on the first pitch.

  18. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Ray with 85 pitches in the first 4 frames. 85.

1 hit, no runs, but 5 walks. Not a good look for trade bait.

  19. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well Ray got his 5 innings in unlike Houser so if the beleaguered BP can hold a 9-0 lead he should get a Win..

  20. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Perfect game now to bench Devers and move Eldridge to 1b to get some real time there on defense. Yes, you can move a player into a position from the DH. He just can’t DH anymore.
