Dr. Jeckyll, Meet Mr. Hyde

Consistently inconsistent really seems to be the MO of this team. Not sure what they can do about it but here we are struggling to crawl to .500 while beating great teams and tripping over our dicks on those same teams. Having a blast so far. Made it to Tofino after being everywhere in these last 5 days.

When was the last time the Giants batted around the entire LU in an inning? Quite awhile I would imagine.

    Schmitt raking today

Goddamit Devers wtf are you doing not hustling to first on a day where Chicago can’t catch a popup up on the infield.Uhh I just want to watch this majestic popup from home plate!

Schmitt continuing today, as I said above, to prove the point that he can easily take over for Chapman. He’s a plus move offensively over Chapman, and is as good a defender at third, as Chapman degrades there — 8 errors so far in two months. The salary dump positive effects are obvious, and open up the roster for youth infusion. Trading Chapman would be pro-active GM work and certainly not be “knee jerk”, it would make short and long term organizational sense.

Problem is Posey was adamant taking over negotiations from Farnscam getting Chapman locked in for his 1st big move ending fortunately Z’s departure even though it wasn’t suppose to be his call yet.. Now I get and approved of his bold move addition of Devers at the time, but maybe Posey who has deep ties with Chapman even Melvin just doesn’t want to end up with egg on his face and obviously expects more out of him..So to be continued for now.

White Sox very accommodating with the bad defense today. Nice to have the other team do that once in a while…

Pegureo pitched a pretty good inning

Everyone in LU got a hit today, including Bryce with a 2 for 3 day. Nice!

Giants finally had a good day at bat, helped a lot by wind blown defense. A blind squirrel finds a nut every so often. Let’s see if they can put a few wins together with AZ coming in. Good to see Eldridge in there- they need to just keep playing him.

Hi ya’ll, just a quick check-in. Holed up at a hospital in Da Nang for a handful of days for prostate reduction and a nasty kidney cyst removal. One of my least comfortable hospital stays ever but so it goes.

Yeah, what to do about the Giants. I don’t blame them for some of the long contracts, not after 5 years of Z’s stoopid 2-year opt out deals. Needed to rebuild a solid core with some longevity. Turns out some are not golden. Most GMs are hesitant to dump a player they recently signed bigly (Chapman) but I don’t think that will stop Buster, I think he’d jump on a good chance to dump Chapman sooner rather than later. Mixed feelings about Adames. Strong feelings they keep Devers. Would hate to see Arraez go, he’s the lynchpin Buster hoped Chappie or Adames would be. Still hopeful Bader will become a real asset, and it’s quite possible he’s healed and getting stronger. I also still like Lee. The bench sucks, as does most of the bullpen, both can be cleared of just about anyone. Rotation (after trading Rachel) will be a less effective Webb, Roupp, and McDonald with maybe Houser, who is pitching well, but Mahle needs to go.

Unfortunately, as several here have said, the big picture is the real problem, it’s a systemic failure. No good instruction going on in the minors, weak drafting (maybe improving now), seemingly ineffective coaching in the majors… That’s where the team needs a rebuild, and it will take years. Double unfortunately, ownership is also a problem. Somebody needs to make the Johnsons an offer they can’t refuse. So, Buster, start small with a few big ballsy moves, all before the All Star break.

fwiw Kai Wei Teng shut out Cubs for 6 innings today in W for Stros. His last outing he also gave up 0 runs in 5. For season ERA is tidy 2.19. Sure be nice to get couple starts like that out of the rotation.

Glad to hear you are out of surgery and on the mend, Paul. None of that sounds pleasant. At all. Prolly saved about $120,000 in bills tho being in Viet Nam.

As far as Chappie goes, he should go. No-trade clause and all.

Total for all hospital expenses (surgeries, tests, room) will probably come in around 200 million dong, or around $8kUSD. My insurance will likely cover maybe 3/4ths, so maybe around $2000 out of my pocket. A lot of people do come here for “medical tourism”…. When I visited the US last autumn, my 2nd day there I broke a tooth. Cost $1800. If it had broken 3 days earlier in Vietnam, $200….

Tom, if you want to talk more about the prostate reduction, my email is paulherethere @ yahoo.com. I also have WhatsApp

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

Awful as it sounds, it coulda been worse, right? I hope you’ll bounce back quickly and I’m sure you will. You’re a helluva good guy and I wish the best for you…

      • Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Why thank you, sir. Yes it can always be worse, and I suppose someday it will be, but not ready for that day yet… I’m like the Giants winning in even numbered years; except this ain’t exactly winning, every other year involves hospitals. I’m already looking forward to 2027….

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Glad to hear you are on the mend Paul. I am going to inquire about the reduction myself since mine has been enlarged seems like forever.
