Trent Gets His

Well, maybe they ARE learning. Trent Williams got a 2 year/$50 million extension. Before the draft. Before the OTAs. Before the preseason. We still need his backup, but the need for a starter to move in immediately is off the table. That still leaves LG and C as big needs. For me.

Yes, we need a DE to bookend Bosa but the interior looks pretty good with the trade for Odighizuwa and the reps that Collins and M Williams got. Before they got hurt.

As usual, this all depends on 2/3 of the team not going down to injury.

Signing Trent is great news. With us you never know wtf is going on. I know we need dline help but still not sold on that being our 1st pick but in a way that makes it more fun at least for me.

Ya even though I didn’t contribute a whole lot to the flap and the reason for that was that multiple people would say the same thing that was on mind before I could get around to it. Anyway I will look for another Giants blog to at least see whats going on.

BS Winder . . . Your posts were outstanding.

I am still hoping someone from the Flap starts another Giants blog, as it is a bit unfair to Unca to expect him to oversee both the ‘Niners and Gmen. I am hoping James, Willie, or a combination (stable?) of us do it.

Hey, it’s the offseason. after the draft there’s nothing going on for quite a while. If the Flap orphans want to hang here, I’m fine with it.

        Dad?

Flap orphans, ha. WP was such a nightmare, sometimes better on laptop, sometimes only phone posts would go through.

Side note: tried to stay in touch with Mr. bass b, but he had difficult surgery months ago and haven’t heard back from him.

Lol! Yer killin me. I have to get out to New York one of these days.

Last time I was there was 1972.

Saw Mays play for the Mets at Shea.

Mays won it in the bottom of the 11th with a base hit.

I tell ya, with Peters gone, these drafts make a little more sense. Although he did have a knack for hitting late draft picks. Not as bad as the Baalke years of monkeys throwing darts but I think the 2025 draft will go down as a very good one, and the 2024 one looks solid.

Gonna be out and about this weekend so I may not have much going on here, but I’ll try to update as needed.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah, I agree I still think Peters is a good GM but while here a lot of swings and misses. Of course Lynch and Shanny have just as much of not more blame in those picks

Roupp Dee Doo going tonight. I guess if we are gonna beat the Dodgers, this is our best chance.

    3-7 at home really sucks.

  4. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

If they are going to make a statement that they have a pulse, then taking this series is key. Otherwise, the Giants are again a .500 team or worse.

  5. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I’d like to see us take the LT from AZ in first round. Play him at LG until Trent goes away or is injured. If we don’t go for OL, I’d like to see the best pass rushing edge rusher. Maybe Cashius Howell will be available? Maybe even trade back and target R Mason Thomas.

  6. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Susac to IL with elbow problem. Pavs says he’ll be out 2-3 weeks.

Ouch. One of few guys hitting.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Of course. The one guy hitting.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

More than just him unc . . . Willie’s right, although Susac has been phenomenal. Chapman, Arraez, and Schmitt have been doing well. Adames also has a positive WAR. Ramos and Lee showing a pulse too of late . . . Now, they need to put it in a higher gear.

  8. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Bummer about Susac he’s been such a spark plug, hopefully he gets back soon! I’m more concerned why they didn’t bring up C Jesus Rodriguez to be the backup?I get C Hasse has MLB experience but Rodriguez is clearly the better hitter, though Hasse maybe better defensively right now?

Looks like yamamoto can get got

  10. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

Feels strange here. Like if the Giants and Niners had swapped Roger Craigs in the 80’s…

  11. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

    Way to re-groupp 🙄

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Ok I don’t want to ever see Lee try and score again, does he know Stop sign in English?

  13. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Uniforms are crap. Seen 2 columns on MLB teams “city connect” jerseys and Giants are rated the worst or near the bottom.

  14. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Big win! Get ’em tomorrow too.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oh, there area lot more worse ones. BMore? These are at least similar enough. The fog ones were garbage.

Nice win tho!! Roupp dee doo is looking very good. Minus the 4th inning.

Not sure what Lee was thinking either.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Good we got this one. Mahler’s gonna get shelled tomorrow. Ohtani’s on fire so far.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Willie, BassB was posting on Craig’s thread up until the end so I think he’s fine.

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

Thanks, hope so. He had been rehearsing with some friends til he had major surgery.

Great win last night as pitching held them off and they took advantage of couple screw ups in field by LA in first. Rainstorm was bizarre; supposed to be nicer next few days.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Parker or Howell should be available at 27. With Trent here, I’m thinking DE IS the way to go. 2 and 3 go to C and LG.

  19. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy says:

I’m stunned that we pulled off that W last night. Wasn’t able to watch any of it till I saw the condensed game. Afterwards, I still understand of how we survived the final few innings. LR looked amazingly good except for that 4th (?) inning but he got out of it nicely. Looked like Yamamoto pulled it together like the pro he is and shut us down the rest of the way. Then, our BP actually held them off …!?!? WTF!?! Walker? Really? I do not understand this team.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Hey, BassB! Thanks for coming.

    New thread is up.
