Man, this sucks. When I was young, he was my first favorite QB. Our neighbors across the street had season tickets to the 49ers (in the east end zone at Kezar). So I got to go to a game in 1969 vs the Colts. Close game, and late in the 2nd half, the Colts put in Johnny Unitas to try and mount a comeback, and they did late the lead in the 4th quarter. But Brodie got the final TD and the Niners won 20-17.
I went to the Bears game that year as well and was hooked for life. Saw a bunch of Brodie’s games at the Stick as the team rode his shoulders to 3 playoff runs, including the comeback from injury to lead the 49ers past the Vikings only to have our hopes dashed by Roger Staubach’s (fuck preston riley) late comeback. Saw his last game in 1973 as well.
Quiet and steady, he didn’t demand the spotlight like Namath and others but he should be in the Hall of Fame. His numbers are markedly better than Namath’s. But whatevs. He retired from football to become one of the top guys on the Senior Golf tour. When they were still allowed to call it Senior.
So raise a toast to Brodie. A guy who took a lot of shots, had shit thrown at him for half his career by the unruly mobs that passed for Niner fans back in the day, and ended up almost climbing the mountain to the top. RIP John.

Utah ..OL Caleb Lomu 6’6 304 probably needs to add weight but is a stud in run blocking/ pass protection..His teammate Fasno will be off the board at OT as well,says a lot about the program..
Alabama..Massive I mean Totally Massive but athletic OT Kayden Proctor 6’7 366 a total road grader!Either one of those 2 would be a great foundation piece for years!
I could see even going after the best TE in the draft in Oregon’s Keyon Sadiq 6’3 245 with Kittle’s age and now good portion of next season with that late season Achilles injury , not sure if they want to put all their eggs in the Tonges basket just yet, the 2 together would be a 2 good throwing options..
But as we always know with Shannylynch expect to see their usual DL player first..
Lomu same weight as Spencer Burford and have seen how well that has worked out. If he is there for our late 2nd pick and if he can add ten plus pounds of muscle take him then.
I would love to draft a really good OG with our first round pick. Wat I would like to see with our first 2 picks is an OL and a pure pass rusher. I’m guessing we will try to make a run at Hendrickson in FA.

Giants sign Outfielder Harrison Bader for 2/20 M deal.A solid GG outfielder probably will play CF moving Lee to RF with Ramos are butcher glove still in LF.Not a needle mover with his bat but still an upgrade with his energy provided I like the signing, definitely helps upgrading a weak outfield..
Thanks for the Gmen update AK . . . Paul and I were chatting about the lack of news (besides cricket sounds) from the Giants. I like this signing. Hoping for a trade of Ramos. Right now, I see Lee being moved from CF to right (he was mediocre last year defensively in center). Bader goes to CF definitely.
Adios to Matos. I will be surprised if he stays, particularly with Gilbert having the inside track as a defensive replacement/pinch hitter. Correct me if I am wrong, but Matos is out of options? Again, we need to trade Ramos. Not a very good fielder and he regressed last year offensively.
Like the move. Nothing major, but it addresses the issues Lee had in CF. RF is a nightmare but at least he can cover ground.
