Looking back at the last few seasons shows a real shit show when it comes to the draft. at least before last season. Which leads to the question above. Was Adam Peters just fucking up wildly? Adams joined the team as a Lynch hire in 2017.
This recent article about the 2023 draft shows how poor it really was. Nick Mooney being the biggest fail in the group. I will say Ja ‘Aiyur Brown and Dee Winters could stick. Brown was thrust into playing time due to Hufanga’s injury and Winters has the bigger hole to fill with the departure of Dre Greenlaw.

2022, all you have to do is look to the right column for the ugly. Burford is a liability, Zakelj may be solid, K Davis is hurt all the time, so, 5 of 9 picks, including the top 3, are gone. If not for Purdy, Shanny and Lynch would be elsewhere and the team would be looking for a quarterback (hey wait).
2021? The year Peters was promoted to Assistant GM under Lynch saw the Trey Lance debacle, and again, the top 5 picks from that draft class are gone. They did hit gold at the bottom of the draft with Lenoir, Hufanga, and Mitchell (gone) coming in rounds 5 and 6.
The rest are patently obvious. They hit ONE bona fide star in round 1 with Nick Bosa. Brandon Aiyuk was on his way to being a difference maker after his 2 year stint in the Shanahan Dog House, but between the hold out and the injury, the jury is out.
With the departure of Peters however, the 49ers actually had a very solid draft for 2024.
Renardo Green was thrown in to the starting role due to injury, Puni was a dominant RG and played every snap in 2024, Mustapha played solid ball and gave the 49ers the ability to shed Hufanga and his salary, and even Rickey Pearsall (a pick I didn’t like at all) made headway by the end of the season.

So where does that leave us now?
Well, we are thin as parchment, and our big offensive stars CMC and Aiyuk are both coming off major knee injuries, our O and D lines are a mess, and the defensive backfield is a bit thin.
Yeah we have a last-place pity schedule, but as we all know, doormats can become solid teams in a heartbeat. Or after one good draft. Both the Eagles and the Rams nailed their drafts, and the Eagles rode their guys to the Super Bowl. And take a look at Denver. Nowhere to playoff contender after their solid draft.
So, nail this draft, bulky up the O and D lines, get some needed depth, and this team can be in the mix. At this point of major uncertainty, that’s about all we can hope for.
Winder said to take D-Line with first 4 picks. I wish Winder was picking for us!
Another up close review for the Dline.

Don’t want anyone with medical issues. Between Baalke and the occasion guys (Kinlaw) recently, stick to guys that aren’t raising any red flags.
chuck- not sure how much pull the plug influence Peters had with our drafts. Pretty sure Lance was a 100% Shanny. We did have a good draft last year but I also think Washington did too. I guess time will tell. We need to make this one count and if we screw it up some heads should roll.
Berger- our defense has to be priority one. I would like to see us get that 400+ tackle can’t remember his name to plug the middle. If nothing else convert him to play guard. His bio said he was quick on his feet.
Here ya go Winder. FL Gator even the gators might find imposing 😁

Thanks NJ- The kid is definitely a project but I would spend a 5/6 on him. I think the potential is worth the gamble. My guess is he goes 4/5.
I agree that Peter’s was the one that brought over kliff Kingsbury who handled the rookie kyler Murray with perfect offense for him. Then did the exact same O with jayden Daniel’s
Peter’s took a bottom 5 team to a top 5 team in one draft his first year. Niners got the mediocre KS bottom bitching the OL.
Well, Adams’ record here as assistant GM was atrocious. I’m still of a mind that Shanny is about 80% in control of the picks, but who knows?
He’s running this fucked up offense as well.
Eddie D took Walsh’s GM-ship from him in 1983 and told him to focus on coaching.
Donlt see any huevos like that from Young Sir Jed.
FA linebacker CJ Mosely is being floated as a one-year stop-gap to fill the Dre Greenlaw gap. No idea of his pricve but he’s coming off an injury-plagued 2024.
Before that tho he was a high-end guy. Worth a one-year make-good deal.
Saleh system fit Chuck. Plug and play convenience.
The 49ers lost several key contributors early in free agency, including linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Reloading the linebacker group should still be a priority.C.J. Mosley was limited to four games in 2024 by toe and neck injuries. He’ll also turn 33 in June. However, he’s a five-time Pro Bowler who spent time with the Jets under Robert Saleh—who returned to San Francisco as the defensive coordinator this offseason.

I’d be more than happy with Nolen.
Point being, there should be someone that fills a big need at 11 with all the O and D linemen available.
I saw Sanders, and was gonna choke on my day-beer if they were referring to Sheder Sanders!
TJ may fall to the 2nd round?
I really think we need to go O line at 11.
Haven’t seen this one in a while.
Absolute gold. Carmen Appice drummming for all he’s worth.

Speculation being what it is, I like his size/speed bio.

I’m fine with this kid BTom. Small school guy with good measurables.
Address the trenches in whatever order works.
This is absoulutly the worse time of year for the NFL there is so much bullshit floating out there It’s all clickbait. We have so many positions of need that no matter who we pick all we need is for them come through. And I don’t feel very confident in our FO. I think the reason we have been so successful in the later rds is that they follow our scouting recommendations. I would almost bet that in the first couplee of rds they let their personal beliefs take over(thomas, foster, pettis, KInlaw, lance, etc). And my guess is the later rds is where Peters shined because he was in charge of evaluations. All this of course is just my opinion.
I’ve said for a long time I don’t think Lynch is super involved in the draft decisions. I’m sure they listen to him and they talk, but I really think this is about 90% Shanny in the first 3 rounds. The rest he defers.
This is simply based on the control freak that Shanahan appears to be. If this is the case, then yeah, I’m not ecstatic about our near future.
I would like to see a draft where they lock Shanny out and won’t let him in until the draft is over. I guess Gus Bradley is still our assistant Gm and l hope he is on top of his game.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Mike Green, Will Johnson, or Javon Walker be our #11 pick just as long as it’s defense since the top 2 Ot’s will be long gone.
I’m leaning towards Green also. Like the idea of giving some help to Bosa at 11 whoever they have at the top of their board.
I think the DTs can come further down the road.
I think I would pull the plug if Jihaad Campbell is still on the board at 11.
New thread is up.
