Wow – There’s Losses and There’s That

I’d have to go back to 1977 to come up with a game that was blown so spectacularly. Or even the 1957 Western Conference playoff game. Or those Super Bowls. Or NFC Championship games. Or worst ever. This one was special because there was only a select few ways to actually cough that one up.

And of course we did.

This should result in some major changes to the coaching staff as special teams and the defense were severely lacking today. Shanahan for his part called one of his better games. I didn’t like the run on the goal line, it should have been the Juice push, but the rest was enough to win.

And fuck Ronnie Bell. Cut his ass tomorrow. Moody is just flat not trustable. Control the game for 59 minutes and 59 seconds. And lose.

Sigh.

Not to mention the fact that McVay has a superbowl and Shanahan doesn’t. Yikes

Fuck off, Tom. At least man up and post under your real name.

I am just glad that I don’t take the losses like I used to. This one was extra depressing mostly because it was the stinking Rams. It’s funny that you mentioned the late 70’s because they were pretty much like this one our defenses couldn’t stop anyone when it mattered.

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

If this front office had balls this would be a Mark Trestman moment.

  5. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Ronnie Bell – hands like feet. That dropped ball late turned the game IMO.

Thought Shanny gave up on the run game too. Possibly because he didn’t have Kittle to help? Sure can’t argue with the D either. Couldn’t stop the pass or the run.

Other than that…we shit the bed in spectacular fashion after holding the lead forever.

  6. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Why wasn’t the veteran WR Chris Conley not on the field instead of Taco Bell who had already dropped 3 passes? Just a disgraceful performance to lose this game with far superior talent..

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

288 in the air and 137 on the ground shouldn’t be a loss. ST fucked the poodle.

    Defensive scheme is garbage.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    The stats are pretty unreal.

    425 – 296 being the big one.

Another special teams loss. They had to do so many things wrong to make this work for LA, and they complied.

    7 penalties for 111 yards.

  9. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah that’s grade of F is well deserved NJ..

Up 14-0 the fake punt which the Niners should have been well aware of since Rams hadn’t done shit to that point turned the whole game around!Sorenson&ST coach Schneider? had egg on their faces a lot in this game..

  10. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

I’d have to check the timeline but Brian Flores could have been an option for us as DCo?

He’s doing a good job in MN right now and came through the Belichik system.

Hindsight is always 20-20 but we sure wasted a lot of time in our efforts to replace Wilk’s only to get more of the same.

Chuck here’s the scoop from WP about video link imbeds though I was able to make it work by moving to the left margin –

Rams season would of been over with an 0-3 start only like 6 teams have overcome that margin to make the playoffs. Thanks to the 49ers disaster their back in the hunt.Really any team that starts out 0-2 it’s a must win 3rd week like Ravens beating Cowgirls and Bengals have to win tonight to avoid an 0-3 start are their toast..

What pisses me off about Shanny ( and he’s still a good coach, hell the offense is top 3 in the league)is his pig headed not to bother improving ST,and OL upgrades! He figures as long as I spend money on my offensive weapons everything is good?Wrong!

You have 2 terrible players on the right side of the line in Center Brendel,&RT McKivitz both rated near the bottom of the league at their position! They have Williams,Banks, and Puni ( thank god for him he’s going to be a star)but dammit draft a RT and Center next year!!

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The Rams shouldn’t make the playoffs anyway. This win may define their season. It better not define ours. We gave away 3 last year. Here we have given 2 away already.

And these losses are more on the coaches than anyone else.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

3 things I’ve been harping about FOREVER is the defensive backfield, the O line, and special teams.

Now that the defense plays so soft, the defensive backfield has become an issue despite having solid players.

We KNEW LA was gonna pass late so we do NO ADJUSTING to this and instead run our vanilla defense. LA puts in an extra blocker or 2 and we are forced to hold and get PI calls with no pressure on Stafford.

And we STILL give up the bombs!!!

    FUCKING INSANITY!!!

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Not sure if Ward and Huf were confused on coverage or asleep at the wheel allowing Tutu to go dancing by either.

Thinking we would have been embarrassed 10 fold if they had all their weapons.

Here’s another one for you Winder 😁

Purdy getting an MRI on his back.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

12th Yeah heard that back tightness not to be confused with Ronnie Bell 2 permanently cement hands!!

Oh and just cause the 49ers can’t get over injuries..DT Javone HARGRAVE in a crushing blow to the Defense has a torn labrum injury and is now out for the season!!!The hits just keep on coming it’s like 2020 season all over!

Also LB Dee Winters suffered an ankle sprain, probably miss some time as well.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Not only that Kat, where the heck is Leonard Floyd? 1 sack in week one and that’s it for the stat sheet. I understand he’s in a new system but he’s a pass rusher for goodness sake and he’s a perennial 10 sack guy. All of a sudden he’s MIA.

  17. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Partially torn tricep injury is Hargrave’s injury out for the season!! Fuck NFL is taking major hits with all clubs this year!Niners avoided the injury bug last year but it caught up to them this year…

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Heard Hargrave had something going on. Didn’t know it was season-ending. Jesus

On top of all that, we are the talk of the NFL these last two weeks for all the wrong reasons.

  19. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Juaun Jennings putting up Jerry Rice stats last seen by the GOAT in 1995. I had a feeling Jennings would shine given an opportunity, him and Purdy were a silver lining in an otherwise God awful game they had no business losing.

This year’s team is complacent, not hungry. With the injuries and the general malaise it could go either way for the year by week 4.

Ronnie Bell is at less than 50% on career catches, have they seen enough yet? Give Cowing and opportunity.

Better light a fire before Sunday.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

If we can’t beat the Pats at home, we are dog meat.

Jaylen Daniels putting ofn a fucking show. Holy shit. Their last drive took half the 4th quarter.

21-23 254 and 2 TDs. Cincy about to be 0-3. Like the Rams should be.

They won’t go anywhere. But we have a lot of work to do and a lot to fix.

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Any team at 1-2 are still in the hunt for playoffs including the Rams any team 0-3 are done. It’s the Seahawks at 3-0 and a 2 game lead the biggest concern for sure in the NFC West..

  21. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

What a game by Jayden Daniels 21-23 93% and made every big play when needed in Bengals house no less for a desperate Bengals team now 0-3 and are cooked!Only the 1998 Bills team made the playoffs. And also shout out to WR Scary Terry McLaurin a class act dude that has gone thru so many QB’s,OC’s in his career he deserves so much better!

17 game season, anything can happen.

  23. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Something that shows up way too often is the Niners giving up a 2 score lead in the 4th quarter and that’s been regardless of who the D coordinator has been.

The D has a nasty habit of allowing the deep pass which is unforgiveable when you have a 2 score lead late in the game.

Kyle’s late game time management and playcalling have always been a bit suspect, not only with the Niners.

As for special teams it’s been bad and now it’s an utter disaster.

One more poor performance from ST and I believe Kyle needs to make a coaching change. I think it’s too soon to evaluate Sorenson but that clock has started ticking.

I also think it’s time to bench a player or 2 and take a risk on the rookies. Whether Kyle believes they are fully ready or not, some of the current players are losing games (Bell, Campbell) and next week is a must win game.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Need I mention the gift he gave to Belichick in the SB with a commanding lead?

He just goes conservative and often fails to play keep away when it matters most.

  24. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Shanahan is so stubborn,he doesn’t believe in rookies playing, so he gives Bell 30 snaps since he’s been with the team 2 years now and he can’t catch a ball even tossed to him on the sideline.Cowing gets no plays cause he’s still learning the system.Wtf?? Is the same thing going to happen with Pearsall when he gets back? You draft 2 potential playmakers and you go with Ronnie “Cement Hands”Bell in crunch time?

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Exactly right Kat, if Puka Nacua played for the Niners he might be still on the bench!

Take the risk with the rookie because the guy he’s playing hasnt been any good, for 2 years!
