Electric Ninerland

Simply an excuse to throw on some Hendrix? Sure. Always down for that. Anyhow, John (I’m not simply Kyle’s mouthpiece) Lynch gave a ringing endorsement to Brock Purdy as the starter once healthy.

Really? No shit? The guy goes 5-0 in the regular season, and goes 2-0 in the playoffs before getting hurt, taking down Seattle and Dallas in convincing fashion? And thus equalling Dak Prescott for playoff wins his Brock’s one abbreviated season?

Hah! Bold shit there, John.

This feels a little like the scenario when Colin Kaepernick took the league by storm when Alex Smith got hurt. Two very good QBs who both are nominal starters. I said sort of. We still have to find out what we have in Trey Lance. And, of course Brock has to recover, and recover fully, from his ligament damage, but this kind of surgery has been done millions ot times and it shouldn’t be a problem.

Sooooooo, the ideal situation is for Lance to come in and play to his projected level as Purdy heals up. Lance can only enhance his value should he come out and not fall flat on his face. And we would have the scenario where our backup becomes a coveted starter for the 2024 season.

I mean, even if his performance isn’t spectacular, there are enough teams willing to take a shot and give us something in return. The wasted draft picks? Pffft. Don’t really give a fuck at this point as Lynch and Co have wasted plenty of first-day picks themselves.

Thing is, the Niners will have a decision to make regarding Lance and his 5th year option. This will be his 4th season, and he will finally get his shot. Unless Kyle goes the stupid route and runs him up the middle repeatedly, but that’s a different story. A solid season from him and we would be in position to do a sign and trade. A mediocre season, would we simply cut our losses? With Purdy becoming Joe Jr. the possibility exists. I still think we would try to sign and trade him, but the prudent thing may be to just walk away if lance is still struggling. Truth is, he’s very green even 3 years into his NFL career. He’s started 5 games in the last 3 years, and one of those was the in the 2020 BCS.

As usual, the Niners are coming into the season with a truckload of offseason dilemmas. Through all the weirdness we have become ESPN/Internet fodder for massive speculation and endless blather.

As Hunter Thompson said, when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Football fans share a universal language that cuts across many cultures and many personality types. A serious football fan is never alone. We are legion, and football is often the only thing we have in common.

This is obviously synched, and hysterically badly, but wow. The drumming is too funny.

This is one of my favorite Hendrix songs.

  2. unca_chuck says:

Last one. Best one. Such fantastic imagery.

  3. Winder says:

Love the first 3 Hendrix albums just as much now as I did then. So much fantastic stuff.

Hate to say it, Kevin, but that article is full of nothing but bullshit. This offseason is gonna be yet another fucking soap opera around the 49ers and their quarterback situation when in reality it is pretty cut and dried. The media is gonna froth and prevaricate over shit like this until Purdy comes back, Lance takes over, or the world collapses and Darnold is our starter.

We signed Sam Darnold because he is better than Josh Johnson. End of story. He is a stop-gap guy that would fill the void should Lance get hurt and Purdy isn’t ready yet.

Lynch can say all he wants about Lance and Darnold splitting time, but the obvious outcome of camp is that Lance impresses and is the starter as Purdy recovers.

If Lynch really feels that way, and Lance shits the bed this offseason/training camp/pre-season, then Lynch would be thinking of just dumping Lance for a bag of footballs. I don’t think it comes to that, but if Darnold is our starter coming out of camp, then we are fucked.

If the 49ers (Shanahan) were smart, they would LAY OFF the RPO ALL offseason and try to develop Lance’s pocket presence at the cost of EVERYTHING else in his development. Play action and straight drop-backs. No option plays. Sure, he can roll out, but no runs for him. There is NO reason to put him at additional risk than there already is as a quarterback in the NFL.

Yeah, there are a whole lotta new sports news outlets that all they do is blow smoke out their asses. I don’t think most of em know anything about the team or much about football for that matter. Lots of bullshit going on. Lance is gonna be on the team for at least two more years.

Had total Knee replacements surgery 03/13/2023, over the last several weeks have been in terrible pain. So I have not been able to concentrate on what I read. So I posted this to see what was going on. Thanks for the comment

yeah, I hear it’s worth it but it isn’t easy. Had a shoulder operation a while back (frayed tendon, bone spurs, torn bursa) and it took 10 months to get over. Need the other shoulder done at some point.

    Not looking forward to it!

I used to water ski and it really jacked up my shoulders.

    • Irish Kevin says:

It sucks right now. How painful was the shoulder during rehab? Mine is unbearable but if I don’t fight through the pain I won’t get the range of motion I want

  6. unca_chuck says:

Horrible. They put this stupid box on my chest that was supposed to pump a pain killer directly into the bursa area. The first night I tried to sleep with that, i was like ‘fuck this’. Tried to take the thing off and ended up pulling like 18″ of tubing out of my body. But my shoulder hurt like hell for the first 3 months, and I had very little mobility. I took it slow because of the pain but I only took ibuprofen. Oxys never worked for me.

    Don’t push it.

The really fucked up thing about my shoulder was my original diagnosis was determined that I was to do rehab. I did it for 8 months and nothing was getting better so I stopped. I couldn’t get my health care to give me an MRI until they finally relented after a year. When the surgeon looked at the MRI, he said “why did you wait so long to schedule the surgery?” I told him of the rehab and he said all I was doing was tearing my shoulder up worse.

So, yeah, don’t push it. If the surgery was done right, you should regain your range of motion in due time, but not as long as mine took.

Giants with an opening day dud. To be expected against Cole. Hopefully this ain;t a recurring theme.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Don’t really think these ‘power’ rankings hold much salt, but FWIW, we are #2.

    https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-power-rankings-nfl-teams-before-2023-nfl-draft

What is funny is they say Sam Darnold is our biggest acquisition. To me that would be Hargraves. The national media seems to think that there will be some sort of open competition between Lance and Darnold. Whatevs. They can all say that, but if Darnold beats out Lance, then we are in a quandry even if Purdy comes back healthy.

If Lance doesn’t beat Darnold, then why take his 5th year option? They won’t. In the end it won’t mean much as these guys blow 1st round picks like they blow their noses. And Purdy looks like the real deal.

But par usual, we are gonna be the talk of the offseason.

    • Winder says:

Yep, I said it somewhere back that we should just trade our #1’s for as many 5th & 6th rounders as we can get. We did hit on Bosa but that is it.

      • unca_chuck says:

Bosa was as no-brainer as a pick could be. Kinlaw and Lance are the only ones left, and Kinlaw is likely gone. Lance had better win the starting job easily.

  9. unca_chuck says:

Oh yeah, and Aiyuk. Traded into the 1st for him. 2 starters in 7 1st round picks in 6 drafts.

    • Winder says:

Yeah, I forgot we traded up to get him. He definitely is a keeper. Whether we can or not we will find out soon enough.

  10. Winder says:

Ted Nugent is fucking whacked. I can’t listen to any of his shit anymore. He sounds like a spokesperson for Qanon or whatever they call it.

    • unca_chuck says:

Funny, Nugent proudly talks of avoid the draft by shitting on the desk of the induction center.

I will say Nugent/Blue Oyster Cult was a pretty kick ass show back in 78. Not interested at all to see him now. That firdt solo album is pretty good.

  11. unca_chuck says:

Niners signed ANOTHER DE, Yannick Ngakoue. 65 sacks in 8 seasons. Love it.

  12. Winder says:

This is actually some real good dead.

  13. Winder says:

    chuck- I can’t find Yannick’s signing anywhere

  14. unca_chuck says:

Hmmm, it flashed across my phone. Don’t see it either but we are interested.

  15. unca_chuck says:

Stone Cold George Kittle in action.

    • Winder says:

I wonder how the Niners brass feels about kittle doing all that bullshit. I’m pretty sure he’s got some kind of clause about non football injuries. It tells me that Kittle’s not long for football.

  16. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, he’s gonna hit the airwaves at some point.

  17. Winder says:

This is a cleaner version. Once I get started listening to this stuff it’s hard to stop.

  18. unca_chuck says:

    New thread is up.
