Still one of my favorite sound bites from the history of post-game interviews. Colts head coach Jimt Mora was asked about his team’s fading playoff hopes after a loss, and went on his mini-tirade. “I just want to win a fricking game!!”
Anyhow, the 49ers are NFC West champs, and the #3 seed in the playoffs. The Minnesota Vikings are the 2 seed, one game ahead of us. We would own the tiebreaker should we end up tied with them. And Indianapolis did us no favors by choking away the largest lead in NFL history. A 33-0 half time lead ended up not being enough for Jeff Saturday. It sure was interesting to watch as everything the Colts did backfired and Indy simply couldn’t get out of its own way.
But the real issue is, how hard do we try to gain the 2 seed. Being the 2 would keep us from playing the Iggles on the road in the divisional round of the playoffs, and we would instead play the winner of the Minnesota Washington (or Giants) at home.
So I guess it is a pretty big deal. But does it justify putting all the starters at risk for 3 games? I’l love to see the 49ers play the starters like 1.5 quarters and coast home these next 3 games. I guess this is all fluid depending on what Minn does. I mean, in theory we could catch the Eagles should they stagger badly. Doubtful, but hey. it’s out there.
I just want to see the team hit the playoffs as healthy as possible.

This was after a loss to the 49ers. IIRC, it was a shutout.
I know the game is truly hard on the body but I think we need to play balls-out football. Make sure everyone gets some rest but I still think a team that is truly hot shouldn’t rest for very long. It all depends on injuries but then again it always does.
Yeah, that’s what worries me. I’d hate to lose a guy like CMC to some stupid shit when we are guaranteed a ticket to the playoffs. Play a half, put in Johnson and Mason. Get Aiyuk out. Get fucking Danny Gray in. Rest Bosa and AA after a few series.

Wow. The 50th anniversary of that (non) play is in 2 days. RIP Franco. Franco’s Italian Army was pretty funny back in the day. He won that 1st Super Bowl with his legs.
Most of the Raiders swear the ball hit the ground. Funny, NFL Films, in all its glory, missed the defining view of that play.
I hadn’t ever seen these different views from the original broadcast. Even the goal post gets in the way on the view behind Bradshaw.

Hienekie is ok but nothing special. They do have a solid set of WRs tho. I’ll give them that.
They also have a really good defense and running game. This game means a lot to em so they will at least show up. I think we take em too but it won’t be a cake walk.
This game is on Shanny and the coaching staff to get these guys mentally ready to keep the win streak going. The payoff for winning out isn’t readily apparent but these kinds of games can get away from us fast.
Word is Kinlaw is practicing but man, he has been damaged goods from the get-go.
Kinlaw cannot be relied upon. Huge mistake and I really liked the pick but didn’t know how serious his knee was. Too bad because he truly is a beast.
