Well, thank God that was a practice game. Unfortunately, this team looks like it is going backwards. Whatever that was, it was bad. Sure, we didn’t have Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk, Mitchell, Williams, and McGlinchey playing, but you’d think the offense would have done something. Even the meaningless 4th quarter touchdown would have done something for the guys, but alas, that pass was dropped by Norm Snead the IV. Soon to be Norm Snead the ex-football player.

10 penalties for 100 yards was also a bit unnerving as this kind of shit has been an issue in the Shanahan era. False starts mainly. This shows a lack of cohesion and discipline. Still and all, it was a tune up game. Thankfully they have 17 days to work on things.

On defense, Samuel Womack continues to impress with his solid breakup of a TD pass that turned into a pick, and another play on a TD pass that he broke up but was called for PI. Iffy call, but hey, he’s in there breaking passes up. We were also pretty much not playing our star defense with Bosa, Warner, Kinlaw, Greenlaw, Moseley, C Ward, and AA all on the sidelines.

So, not much to take from this game other than it gives the coaching staff something to point at and say, don’t try to pull this shit off in the regular season. I’m glad they lost because I remember the bad old days of Aluminum Mike Singletary saying ‘Every win is important,’ going 4-0 in the preseason, and then going 4-12 in the regular season. So, no, pre-season games are not important.

Hopefully we can pick up some interior line help come cut-down day. But it is now the quiet before the storm.

3 runs and a trail of dust Singletary!
    But goddamit I Want WINNERS!!
On Vernon Davis..Can’t play with him!can’t do it!!
I would rather play with 10 players and take a penalty every down!! I want WINNERS!!
And dammit go retrieve your helmet before u go back to the locker room!!!

Singletary was a football players player. I think all those collisions over the years affected the way he made his decisions. One of the worst was to hire Jimmy the hat. Though if it wasn’t for Gore we might not have won a game.

Watching Raiders/Pats, Mac Jones is about as mobile as me.

Watching Banks and Buford was not pretty.

Watched a little bit of first half–verdict on Sermon?

  6. unca_chuck says:

Sermon still dances around instead of hitting the hole.

    • Winder says:

He also seems to be hurt a lot. But they will probably keep him because of his draft rd. Looking like they made another mistake probably doesn’t sit well with them.

  7. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I figured they’d do something. That last game was hideous. Wouldn’t be surprised if they made one more move.

    Fortunately not our Poe . . .

  9. Irish Kevin says:

Listening to Locked on 49ers pod cast, they think the Niners should cut Jimmy. They also thought that after the injury to the NY Giants backup QB they might be interested in JG. What do you guys think

  10. alleykat69 says:

Just the opposite now Kevin…Breaking News
The 49ers restructured Jimmy G’s contact in 2022 6.5 million guaranteed ( worth up to 16.5 million in incentives) as a backup. Its Trey Lance’s team and Jimmy has been nothing but a professional about all the craziness and rumors, so WTF? I feel the 49ers just didn’t feel comfortable with the raw backups In Sudfield &Purdy starting the season which makes total sense. Who knows maybe even mid season a team still goes after Jimmy, but for now the 49ers made wise move hanging onto him at a cheaper price..

    • Winder says:

Kat- The Niners can’t trade him he has a no trade clause so at the end of the year he can go anywhere he wants. He also has a no tag clause.

  11. Winder says:

I really don’t know what to think about it except we can now handle the money part. He really fucked himself by waiting to have the shoulder surgery otherwise he would have been in a much better situation by now.

    • Winder says:

I like Jimmy and I wish him the best I am just glad Seattle didn’t swoop in and get him. Even though he might end up there next year.

  12. unca_chuck says:

New thread. Yeah, my thought exactly was the $6.5 mill was simply to keep Jimmy off the Seahawks. They will hedge their bet and just wait for the attrition rate to hit some team. Pittsburgh?

I don’t get why he agreed to this other than he knows what he has here, and to end up in the factory of sadness would shorten his career a couple years.
