(Pre) Game Day! The First Day of the 2022 of the Season

Here we go. I’m sure we get one series or 2 out of the first string, if that. But here is your 2022 Niners!!!!!

We have a top 3 defense, some highly talented skill players, and a bit of a questionable interior line.

The main thing that may hold this team back is the guards and the center. As we know already, Trey is getting a LOT of practice running for his life and making plays out of the pocket.

The hope is, playing against lesser D lines will give Lance time to make throws out of the pocket,

The rest of the team is nails. If the offense can produce at even a top 8 level, the Niners should be up there with the best teams in the league.

Here we go!!!

  1. Irish Kevin says:

Not seeing any of the starters on offense, other than the line. Not seeing very many D starters either

  2. Winder says:

I can’t get it up here but i will try to follow as well as I can. I am real interested in Womack and Price and all the rookies especially the OLinemen

  3. unca_chuck says:

Nope. Lance was a tad late on the throw to Grey, but he held on. A good sign.

    Won’t see Lance anymore.

Frustrating thing about these preseason games is I’m npot really sure how much time Lance gets on the field.

    Oh good. He’s coming out.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Got Grey in stride that time!!

  5. unca_chuck says:

Winder, 3rd and 9 deep sideline route to Grey that he had a step on his defender, and Lance hit him in stride for the 76 yard TD. Boom.

  6. Irish Kevin says:

    Never saw that with JG

  7. Irish Kevin says:

Wow the Niners now have two QBs that can throw the deep ball@? I am in heaven,

  8. Irish Kevin says:

If Kyle uses a 4 wide out scheme…defense are going to be in trouble

  9. unca_chuck says:

Lame call there. Illegal contact? So hard to defend of the edge.

  10. unca_chuck says:

Nice play by the rook Jackson.

    That’s a pick!!

  11. unca_chuck says:

Jackson looks very fluid out there. That was a quick change of direction to fuck up that pass.

  12. unca_chuck says:

Best part is it was delivered right on the money. no chance for the defender to catch Grey. He’s fast fast.

  13. unca_chuck says:

Winder, try streameast.io. Ignore the popups, and stay with the site and you should get the game.

  14. Winder says:

OK I will give it a try.

  15. Winder says:

chuck which streamer should I use

  16. unca_chuck says:

You should be able to pick the game from the list. streameast.xyz or streameast.io should work.

Burke and Womack looking great. in the D backfield

  17. Winder says:

    thanks

  18. unca_chuck says:

Once you pick the game, ignore the popup screens and go back to the original screen and click the red Play button

  19. unca_chuck says:

I’ve watched the Giants games for 2 years without cable using streameast.

  20. Winder says:

I got to see both womacks int, and the Lance /grey touchdown. that was a thing of beauty. I will try streameast again next week

  21. unca_chuck says:

Hasty playing his way off the team.

  22. unca_chuck says:

GB has a FG kicker named Brkic. and he missed a 27 yard FG by 30 yards!

  23. unca_chuck says:

Zach Wilson with a non-contact knee injury on the field of doom in Philly. Up there with the Meadowlands for death turf.

    • Winder says:

I really like Saleh and hoped the Jets would do something but it looks like it might be a long time coming.

  24. unca_chuck says:

Yeah. It’s a shame that these fucking cheapskate owners can’t put grass on their fields. Their star players go down like flies and they scratch their heads and wonder why.

  25. unca_chuck says:

OMG. We still have Dontae Johnson? I’ll go out on a limb and say he won’t make the cut.

  26. unca_chuck says:

Purdy with a nice little drive. Bought time and made throws. And the back corner fade works.

    • Winder says:

I think all 3 qb’s are keepers. guarantee Johnson makes the team, probably on the protected list of ps players. He doesn’t do anything real well but he plays all the positions and knows the defense.

  27. unca_chuck says:

Hey. 4-5 90 yards, TD. Line was OK. Defense, even with the backups looked decent.

Even Sudfeld had a nice deep ball.

    • Winder says:

We will be ok as long as we stay healthy. Lance is gonna have some burps but i think he has the ability and character to work through it. I like Grey already. And, the book on Womack is that he has a nose for the ball. Love it. We need our draft picks to come through cause we fucked up on a lot of em already.

  28. Berger says:

Hard to get a good read on Lance with only 2 series. He looked not so good and then OK, then great on that long pass. Having said that, my gut feeling is he struggles for the first half of the season but has 2 or 3 very good games. In the 2nd half of the season, it starts slowing down for him and he looks like the real deal.

My biggest initial concern is throwing too hard late and too high. He started the game doing just that, but he seemed to settle down a little. Would have loved to see one or two more series. My 2nd concern is will he anticipate routes and throw on time. He threw a couple late yesterday. I think his arm strength allowed him to wait for the route in college. That won’t work in the pros. This is a typical problem for strong armed QBs when they go pro.

My gut feeling says that will be his biggest learning curve. I think he’ll get it, but we’ll need to be a bit patient. Once he gets a feel for that he’ll start putting more touch on the ball. Having time to throw will have a lot to do with how fast he gets ‘it’. With a good running game and time to throw he could come around, with consistency, in about 3 or 4 weeks. It can be a bit of a catch 22 situation. The running game might not come around until he starts getting ‘it’. One thing he does have that Jimmy G struggled with, is the ability to throw over the top of the defense.

  29. Berger says:

On draft weekend, I like reading up on our picks. I would bet that most of us do the same thing. The comments on two picks got me very excited to see them play. They were Gray and Womack. They got me even more excited after seeing them play. Womack reminds me of K’Waun Williams. Watching Gray on that long TD, he runs a little like John Taylor. I can’t wait to see more.

  30. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, the coverage early was solid. And yeah, Lance was late, esp on the sideline pass to Grey. But Grey is showing pretty good hands. Small sample but good.

  31. alleykat69 says:

Jesus looks like the 49ers dodged a bullet with their 1st rd pick Drake Jackson who left after chasing down Love near the sidelines and immediately was holding his right shoulder as he went into the dreaded blue tent. Sounds like a stinger instead of a separation. But ferchrissakes take the rest of the preseason off along with BOSA!!
Lot to like about Gray with his speed just wondering if gets lots of chances when u have a lot of mouths to feed,Samuel,Kittle,Ayiuk,Jennings,Mitchell etc..
One guy I might go after near the end of my draft is Packer WR Romeo Doobs out of UNR this kid is real special and Rodgers loves this kids tenacity and needs impact receivers after losing Adams&Valdez better upside for Doobs over Gray imo

  32. Winder says:

We have needed a true slinger for a long-long time. I just hope the kid can do it. This is his learning year so maybe not this year but by next.

  33. unca_chuck says:

    Gonzo shoulda bunted.

  34. unca_chuck says:

    New thread is up.
