D-E-E-B-O

Sung to the tune of Jocko Homo by Devo.

Story is, he wants $25 million per year. Curiously enough, the amount that would be freed up by the dismissal of Jimmy Garoppolo. Not saying that will happen, but what I will say is this likely doesn’t get resolved till well after the draft and more toward the start of OTAs and all that shit.

In other words, a holding pattern. As far as I know, and can glean from the medias and interwebs, is that Deebo is happy here and wants to stay. The 49ers certainly don’t want to let Deebo seek greener (and boy, it WILL be greener either way) pastures and dear old Kyle was a wide receiver himself and surely doesn’t want to let this gem go.

Are we not fans?

We are Niners!

This is all wind and sails. Deebo will sign a 4 year, $100 mill extension in June.

I thought Deebo was happy here too. But, we are talking big bucks and maybe he thinks going to another team would offer better opportunities. I haven’t heard or read anything about him for awhile. I hope we can keep him but there sure have been a lot of players jumping ship this year so who knows.

  2. unca_chuck says:

Hey, Baker, you can sit next to me all day and criticize my work. Provided you pay me $28 million a year. I’ll even sell you a few $18.00 beers.

    What a fucking pussy.

  3. unca_chuck says:

And $50.00 to park in my driveway!!

  4. Winder says:

I just read that Deebo won’t show up for any team workouts until he gets a new contract. I love the way he plays the game but maybe a trade to an out of division team might make sense. I am getting the ‘I am bigger than the team’ attitude from him and in the long run that is not good. I have a feeling he’s gonna be on the block soon.

  18. Winder says:

I read this morning that a few people think that Brisker will be our first pick.

  19. Irish Kevin says:

Deebo wants to be traded? Not good

    • Winder says:

No it’s not but the way he’s acting we can’t really keep him either. If we trade him now we might get a good haul.

  20. alleykat69 says:

Maybe package Jimmy G and Deebo for a nice haul of draft picks..

  21. Winder says:

I have a feeling this Deebo thing will turn out just like TO’s bullshit did. I say trade him and get some stuff back. And fuck him.

  22. unca_chuck says:

Wow. This offseason is pretty much a disaster for the braintrust at 4949 Centennial Blvd.

First we have Sir Jimmy Staysalot and now Deebo wants out? Pretty clueless take on his part, but we should get a good haul anyway for Deebo.

The pisser is, what the fuck is the front office supposed to do about Deebo? He’s got to know the situation around Jimmy and know if he cools his heels and waits, he’ll get his money.

Instead he wants to play the martyr? Fuck that. There didn’t seem to be any animosity until what? Deebo wants the front office to throw $25 mill at him at the drop of a hat? Whatevs. He can cool his heels on the bench or sit out the season. He’ll be missing out on Trey Lance, and a possible deep playoff run.

The only question for me is how the negotiations went. Were they that horrible for Deebo? The Niners seem to take care of the players they feel are important, and he certainly fills the bill, but the FO has to know what his balllpark was.

Trade him to the fucking Texans. He’ll likely break down anyway.

  23. NJ49ER says:

    They dealt DBuck
They’ll part ways with Deebo too.
    All about the money

    • Winder says:

I agree about the Defo deal. That was really bad reasoning. I don’t think it’s about the money I think he’s is showboating with a bunch of bullshit just to keep his name in the papers. I think the Niners would have given him the big bucks.

    • unca_chuck says:

Yep. I think that’s the case, Winder. They’d better get a good haul.

Then again, like DeFoBu, they could have figured that Deebo would net them some draft choices to find his replacement instead of paying him.

      Fuckifiknow.

  24. unca_chuck says:

Sad to hear of Daryle Lamonica’s passing. Passing it was with the Mad Bomber. The Raiders were a fun team to watch back in those days, as was most of the AFL teams of that era.

A true legend. Shame he isn’t in the hall of fame as he was a much better QB than Joe Namath.e record. Best

66-16-6 is a pretty impressive record. Best in NFL history as a starting QB.

    • Winder says:

Agree, top notch QB on a very brutal team. The Raiders were tough as nails during his years. I remember Blanda bailing him out at the last minute a few times. If I wasn’t a Niner fan i would have been a Raider fan.

  25. unca_chuck says:

Heh heh. Yeah, it was one or the other. You couldn’t be both!.

  26. NJ49ER says:

    Well…?
If this Deebo stuff plays us into the 1st RD my Draft list was a waste of time.
I did no work involving RD1 options and, I’m not sure how Lynch will play a potential top 20 Pick.
Can’t believe the drama these guys create SMH.

    • NJ49ER says:

Boo boo Jimmy turning into an anchor they can’t move and, what looks like a botched attempt to retain Deebo.
Talk about building a winning locker room… m)

      • Winder says:

What are they supposed to do suck deva deebo’s dick. He put himself above the team. Now he says he just wants to play closer to home. He’s full of shit.

      • NJ49ER says:

        Maybe Winder?
Seems like another DBuck situation to me in terms of the budget.
Buckner claimed afterward that he was willing to work with Paraag but never got an offer.
Same tune appears to be playing with Deebo, if we’re to believe the rumors following the Lynch/Shanny/Deebo dinner date at the recent Owners’ meetings.

If they’ve come to an impasse with Deebo, it’s time to move on unfortunately.
Can’t have a guy on the roster who doesn’t want to be here.
Get what you can and move on.

      • Winder says:

NJ- My understanding is the Niners usually wait until the last minute to sign big contracts(Kittle, Warner) they were gonna pay Deebo he just had to wait a little bit. Who knows what kind of advice he’s getting from outside sources. But his name is sure all over the place now.

  27. bakkentom says:

Jetpress just has an article by justin fried about 3 ways jets trade for deebo. One uses #10 almost directly and two use #35, #38, #69 w/o Denzel Mims. How about adding the Mims addon to #10 also.

Similar viral rumor out there using Philadelphia Eagles in similar fashion using one of their 1st’s.

Get it done. Deebo can break someone else’s bank. Want the picks.

  28. unca_chuck says:

All this does is drive his price up if the 49ers are serious about keeping Deebo. And I think they are serious.

No idea WTF is going on here but it sure feels like a power play by Deebo. He just wants to get paid. He could easily be in a much shittier situation.

    • bakkentom says:

WR money just went ballistic for the top ones. Time for us to bail. Seems eagles and jets want in the pursuit. Deebo and his agent got greedy. Need to handoff here and pick and develop team players on rookie contracts.

He is prone to injury and forced to play in a short field with a weak armed qb. Trey will spread out the field and help wr get open.

We got lucky. Let’s unload the diva and save our cap.

      • bakkentom says:

The eagles and jets interest could be more agent chatter to bid up the price. Along with the lions why would these building teams want to spend big.

  29. NJ49ER says:

Read recently that Baalke took delight in forcing 9ers hand in Deebo’s negotiations by overpaying Christian Kirk.
That move reset the current market and Deebo’s Agent is seeking to keep pace.
Seems the Deebo Agent reps AJ Brown and DK Metcalf as well.
Agents do what they’re paid to do.
Just hope we get some value for this exercise in futility with Jimmy.
We’re looking pretty inept right now.
Jimmy’s probably not going to produce much for us at this point.
No way they can hold him at his price and expect him to backup Trey.
    Shit show….

    • bakkentom says:

Yeah NJ, the tyreek hill/davante Adam’s overpay blew things up. No way in hell should deebo stay on the team. A WR making more than the best LT in the NFL.

These unreal elitist owners expect cap to keep going up. With the savings with him off the team we can budget for a rookie WR1, quality S and nickel CB in secondary, and draft Mack’s successor. Allowing us to stay within a flat cap from stagflation kneecapping the economy and handle Bosa’s soon extension.

With the picks from the deebo windfall giving us draft capital needed on Thursday the Jimmy mess can allow us to release him without heartburn. And FA $$$ spent on a deebo type like Jarvis Landry .

    • Winder says:

NJ= Baalke is who he is. I don’t expect the Jags to do anything as long as he’s there.

  30. Winder says:

Keeping Deebo at this point is useless he has shown his true colors. I understand him trying to get the most money he can, imo moving forward he would be too much of a distraction and to costly to keep. It is gonna be interesting to see how all these monster contract players perform for their new teams. Does anyone think that Watson is gonna give a fuck what the Browns FO says after his guaranteed contract? I don’t. I have been rooting for Cleveland to have some success for quite awhile since I have a good friend who is from there and a die hard Browns fan. All I can see is a train wreck.

  31. unca_chuck says:

All I’ll say is if KC makes a push for Deebo, they will likely be the faves to win the Super Bowl. But they need defensive help as well.

    • Winder says:

Think they would give their 2 late 1st rders and then pay him Hill money. I kinda doubt it but it would make them the odds on favorite to win it all IMO.

  32. bakkentom says:

Observations on lynch’s pre-draft presser. McGlinchey healthy for training camp. Torn quad tendon off the bone. Surgery like what Minnesota Kyle Rudolph had after rookie season. Assume he will be the same as before.

IOL all new. Banks LG – Brunskill C – Moore RG . Mack is pulling a Staley?

Shanahan not in presser. Involved in deebo picks for later in week?

  33. Winder says:

49ers GM John Lynch told reporters” he cannot imagine a scenario where they let Deebo Samuel go.”
Lynch went on to say that “Samuel is too good of a player and a person to let go of.” This fits with reporting that the 49ers are actively looking to extend Samuel. However, the star wide receiver is reportedly uninterested in an extension and simply wants to play elsewhere. Given that Deebo remains on his rookie contract, and can be franchise tagged in 2023, it seems more likely than not that the 49ers eventually reach an extension with the 26-year-old.

My guess is Lynch is towing the line but taking calls.

    • bakkentom says:

Yep. May not go public until the highest pick is called. If #35 then Friday. No more deebo and hello picks.

    • bakkentom says:

JL said Bosa got his 5th year option and extension can come anytime. Deebo camp got boilerplate noncommitals bs.

My hope is deebo picks on day 1 and/or day 2. Only question is trade already done or not.

      • bakkentom says:

Looks like we already have a FA centre to succeed Mack in JC Tretter. On May 2 it will be official. So Trey has good vet covered and will not effect comp pick calculations . Draft C in later round. So good chance for S, nickel CB, edge before that.

      • bakkentom says:

JL’s talk indicates multiple bidders out there. I hope there is a deal now and will be announced at the podium Thursday night.

The downside of keeping him is not good.

      • bakkentom says:

Now Daniel Jeremiah joins tony Pauline saying NYJ #10 for deebo on Thursday night. Using Jimmy Johnson trade value weighting that is a richer deal than the hill or Adam’s trades that approximated a #13 pick. Could happen with a young deebo versus wr bust risk.

This is a godsend for SF. PLEASE get him off the roster. New York needs lots of starters . They have their franchise QB and the cap space.

  34. Irish Kevin says:

Per Scott Ostler, we all know how much Shanahan loves the running game, but too much of that is not a sustainable formula. Shanahan goes through running backs at an alarming rate. Gotta shift the run-to-pass ratio so it’s in line with reality.

It doesn’t do any good to be a genius who creates superstar ball carriers if you (and management) can’t find a way to keep ‘‘em around. Where have you gone Raheem Mostert.

  35. Irish Kevin says:

I agree with all of that, the big problem we as fans have is we don’t know what ticked Deebo off, did he clearly state he does not want to be a running back/WR and the Niners said too bad so sad you will do as your told. Is it a money thing. We as fans might never know. We know he likes playing for Shanahan and Lynch. So IMO upper Management (Jed) needs to just write the check and enjoy the run to the SB, and leave personnel issues with who knows players.

  36. Winder says:

Agree, that we may never know. If it wasn’t for Deebo’s running ability we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. If he didn’t like being a running back he could have said that to KS instead he took it public no doubt for financial reasons. He is still under contract and he just wants his cake a little sooner. It’s obvious he doesn’t want to be a Niner when he could go somewhere else for more money. In some ways I hope we don’t trade him and then tag him for next year. But then we would be losing out on some good possibilities. Just like all the recent big contracts the Niners have given out Deebo would have gotten his all he had to do is keep it in house and wait a little longer imo.

    • bakkentom says:

Latest rumor on NN is #10 plus WR Elijah Moore. If true take it JL. If they want the best deebo replacement maybe take Treylon Burks in the teens.

So WR is settled and S, nickel CB, edge, and another little type TE with trade ups to get the best they can.

  37. unca_chuck says:

RB is a dangerous position. The way Shanny uses them us is more an indictment of the game, not the players. Which is why Shanny needs to stop running Deebo up the middle. If we even have him.

    • bakkentom says:

A weak armed QB and risk avoidance playcalling just stacks the box. Trey won’t have that problem.

RB’s breathe a sigh of relief!
