Game Day 15! The Past Can be the Future

Man, only 3 games left of this crazy season. And as this is likely one of Jimmy G’s last starts in a 49er uni, it is fitting to look at his last Tennessee game. The one where he led two late scoring drives to beat an actual good team fighting for their playoff lives in the Tennessee Titans back in 2017. It was the impetus to sign him to a big deal as he won 2 games before that one, and 2 games after go to 5-0 that season.

Those 4 years have been rough on Jimmy, with the knee injury, and late collapse in the Super Bowl, and the high ankle sprain last season. Which has led to the Trey Lance era next year.

But hey, let’s revel in Jimmy’s resurgence, hope it continues, and raise a glass for Steve (Skeebers) Beigel one last time. RIP, my friend.

    This one’s over boys.

  2. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Tennessee 14 points, SF 0 in the second half

  3. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

What a collapse, all engineered by the “franchise QB.” These fucking announcers are loving this shit.

  4. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Okay Kyle this is where you need to show your offensive play calling none of this use up the clock and lose in the final seconds

  5. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well can’t get the offense going when penalties are being called and moves the ball backwards

  6. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well you know they are going to pass the ball, how about a blitz or two

  7. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

    Welll, wasn’t that nice

  8. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

They need to blitz this dude, he is feeling way to confident on his throws

  9. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Couldn’t score in the 3rd quarter!!!!

Another bitter loss. Those have been very common in the Shanahan era.

Yeah of course they choke this win that was they’re all night!!

  12. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Very difficult team to follow. The horrible inconsistency, the endless mistakes, missed opportunities, leaving plays all over the field and on and on. They must’ve missed 15 tackles tonight, not to mention the critical penalties that hampered drives.

And the coup de grace, a QB who has no business at the helm of what used to be a historic franchise. And I’ve no doubt that Shanahan will continue to run his ass out there until the ship settles on the bottom of the ocean. JG is his guy and that’s that. Bring him back next year. Why the fuck not?

  13. Tennessee's avatar Tennessee says:

Awwww, another heart breaker? Good teams win the close ones and don’t choke. The Whiners are crap.

  14. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I’m all for starting Lance next week.

  15. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

This is exactly why they drafted a QB, on the NFL post game they talked about how JG can be so good for 3-4 games and then lays an egg. Your QB just can’t do that during a hunt for a playoff game. No they won’t bring in Lance, they will ride JG till the end of the season and then cut him loose.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Might as well. Forgo the playoffs and get some reps for Trey. No reason to keep trotting Jimmy out there to suck wildly and play so inconsistently. But that ain’t gonna happen, sorry to say.

Vrabel knew enough to force Jimmeh to beat them.
He’s indecisive and only functions as a robot QB.
Drives me insane when he gets an OLman pushed into his face and stands flat-footed to force a throw.
No awareness to buy an extra second to reset his feet.
Just let it go, which is often a high throw and, hope it doesn’t get picked off.
Robo Jimmeh, not Pro Bowl Jimmeh.

Give this a listen – Steve Young knows the story…..

Jimmeh only seems to function when he’s forced to run a 2min drill.
Make him read and react and, he becomes indecisive.
      Robo Jimmeh.

Also curious about Ambry Thomas over Lenoir?
Do I even get into Trey Sermon, Aaron Banks or Jaylon Moore at this point?
Frustration abounds as a 9er fan this time of year.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yep. Just amazingly inconsistent work from the whole organization. From the players, the staff, the trainers, to the front office.

They are their own worst enemy.

  20. Winder's avatar Winder says:

The turnovers are the worst. Sloppy mistakes have hurt us all year. That game was ours and we just pissed it away. I would like to see Lance out there also but I doubt it and I really want Jimmy to finish out the season with good games. We might get something for him.

  21. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

    Have a Merry Christmas gents.
Hoping the extra time off for our boys will give them time to realize how they let that one get away last night.

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Same to you and yours, NJ.

Jimmy will get us a 3rd at best. Yeah they are consistently inconsistent.

    New thread is up.
