Game Day – Requiem for Jimmy G?

Well, probably not. I foresee Trey Lance getting on the field to start the 3rd quarter as the brain-freeze head coach struggles through another game. Hopefully Lance gets some passes to throw to go along with the 20 rushing attempts. Getting hard to feel anything but anger and sadness about a team that was looking like they were heading in the right direction when John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan came aboard.

Here we are 4+ seasons later dealing with injuries yet again, a quarterback controversy regarding lame-duck QB Jimmy G and future question mark Trey Lance, a porous and ineffective offensive line, a patchwork quilt of old and lousy cornerbacks, and a slew of draft day misses. The braintrust of Lynch and Shanny have cobbled together one solid season, a Super Bowl loss, in 4+ years, and a 31-39 record.

19-36 minus the outlier season. I just don’t know about this team. My quickest solution would be to hire/promote a play caller. Shanny is sucking hard. Ater the season, re-evaluate Shanahan and maybe move on if this year isn’t salvaged.

As far as the rest? We’ll see by the end of the season.

Okay if they miss the FG I will be pissed that they didn’t pass the ball more on this last drive, playing not to lose!! 😡😡

Brad Riggs on twitter said Bears had no takeaways no sacks and have not forced a punt and Niners have 470 yards of offense.
And now an int for SF.

So I hope Kyle sticks with this play calling, trust JG, and run when needed, not run all the time

  10. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well Kevin I disagree , Elijah Mitchell has proven to be the lead back, 18 carries for 137 yards , 3 measly carries for Hasty.Sermon can’t even get on the field.
Yeah they need to mix it up and the run sets up the pass for Jimmy which makes everything better.
If nothing else for now they have a top notch RB and that’s something to build off of..Mitchell’s the real deal, just stay healthy big guy!!

And I disagree with running all the time, if anyone can show me a highlight of Joe M, or Steve Y, handing off to a running back to win a SB, I will say the run is the way to go. And that was back in the day when RBs went in the first round or were valued as a #1 pick, RBs are no longer considered in the 1 st round of the draft, WRs and QBs are, why…because this is a passing league now. The Niners losses in the SB were all due to heavy on the run.

As he has proven, JImmy G throws well on the move and should be rolled out to make his throws.

And yes, our offense clicks when the run game is working. And we finally threw deep.

It helped that Jimmy wasn’t pressed by the defense very often also.

This offense looks a Hell of a lot better when Mitchell is healthy. Of course, keeping ANYONE healthy here has been tough lately.

Still apprehensive about the upcoming division games. But What the Hell, enjoy the Win while we can.

Best start to finish game for the offense. Garapolo moved well in the pocket as he has in a long time, or ever. Aided by decent pass coverage. Great downfield blocking. Auyuk had a great game, including blocking. And Shanahan? Kept running the outside pitch with juice leading. Over and over. Because. It. Was. Working. Thank you Kyle. Oh and Bosa is a beast. For all the criticism of our drafting, at least we got that one right.

    • barleyfreak's avatar barleyfreak says:

      **pass protection**

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Bosa was a no-brainer but he has been great. Still hate how he bites on the bootlegs and crashes inside too quick. But the rest of his game is awesome.

But yes, Shanny finally didn’t give up on the run for no particular reason and Mitchell has proven to be a stud. Sermon? Where is he? Has the team already given up on him? Really don’t get what is going on there. At least Aiyuk has crawled out of the doghouse and had a solid game. 4/45 and a nice couple of punt returns.

AA really has to get a LOT more pressure since teams usually double Bosa. Ebukam hada nice sack, and we did finally get through late.

Well, if we can run effectively we stand a chance against anyone. It’s all about mistakes, penalties, and turnovers for the Niners. No sacks, no fumbles, and no picks today. And the D came on in the 2nd half.

Shanny actually adjusted. He ran no-huddle on the 2nd TD drive in the 3rd quarter. He stopped throwing those dangerous sideline shit passes. And he went downfield a couple times. Actually hitting Aiyuk on a deep pass to close the 1st half.
