Game One in the Books / Game Two vs the Clippers

Not much to report other than Trent Williams is (gulp) day-to-day with a knee injury (he got clipped) he sustained on Monday. It isn’t awful, but he’s likely not doing anything for the next 2 weeks. Emmanuel Moseley is dealing with a sore hammy. Something to keep him out of practice and possibly week 1. Gulp. Nevermind Dee Ford, Greenlaw, Warner, and Ebukam.

They just need to hit the ground pounding everything in site. The defense has me worried as we won’t see them play together until the Deetroit game. Yes, it’s Detroit, but hey, blind squirrel/nut and all that.

We are practicing with the Chargers right now, so this is a little better than scrimmages with themselves before their game on Sunday, but we have to get healthy at some point. Nick Boisa appears to be ready after spending the whole preseason doing individual drills, but we will see how it goes.

Greg Cosell on the 5 rookie QB’s after their first pre-season games. Trey is at 10.05 if you want to skip the others.

Without the drops Trey’s 8-12 for 158. Yeah he needs time. Don’t think he’s gonna take the world by storm this season but he will.

    • 12th Man says:

Talented but raw. As I said before, a mixed bag. I like the current ascension plan. Start Jimmy and sprinkle in some Trey plays, unless the 9ers need the cap help by saving the 26 million it is the logical way to go.

Odds are Jimmy will lose some playing time to injury and Trey will have to start, but if Jimmy gets healthy and is ready to return that’s when things will become clear as to what Shanny really thinks of his QB’s.

      Fascinating scenario.

  3. Winder says:

It’s gonna be hard for Trey to overtake Jimmy at this point. Jimmy was throwing some pretty nice long passes yesterday from what i read. What i don’t like is we still have some crucial parts of the team out with injuries already.

    • 12th Man says:

Jimmy looked the same to me. He will take the underneath throw on a high/low option route every time unless the high is wide open. Conservative, cautious, efficient, right up until the dumb throw into the belly of a defender he apparently didn’t see.

      • Winder says:

He does throw way to many interceptions. Jimmy supposedly has a very quick throw but he holds onto the ball way to long and they turn into desperation throws.

5 potential cuts for the 49ers…
Jaylin Hurd..Never on the field, now shutdown again with tendinitis in right knee, cut bait they have better receivers who actually play..
Jacuiq Tartt..Another guy not healthy cause of a mysterious toe turf injury that goes back to last November and Shanny’s frustration that he can’t be out there..
Ross Dwelly..With Jordan Matthews bulking up 30 lbs and now switching to TE and looking good I think he gets a backup job..
Marcell Harris.. Just think theirs better DB’s on the team..
William Gallman ..With 2 new shiny RB’s Sermon&Mitchell and what Hasty has shown why keep an old RB around?
    Thoughts?

    • Winder says:

Harris is now a LB they will keep him. I agree with chuck on Dwelly and Matthews, and with Woerner(sp) we are likely to keep 4 TE’s.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Hurd may never play a down in the NFL and it’s a shame, but how much longer can they wait? And yeah, Tartt is another Crystal Todd. Just can’t stay on the field. I think they’ll keep Dwelley and Matthews, mainly because Matthews can be played differently than Dwelley and they can put Matthews at WR for some plays where he can block. As far as Gallman goes, he comes highly rated and I think he sticks, based on these next couple games. At least that’s what I hear the coaching staff say. I like Hasty but Gallman is bigger, a better pass catcher, and a better blocker.

Then again who knows? Hasty is more familiar with the system and they also have Elijah Mitchell. Maybe they both get cut.

Hey chuck to watch on bilisport what do you do with that intersteller add box I am afraid to click on it.

  8. unca_chuck says:

You should be able to close the ads and go back to the bilasport site. Then again, I’m on a mac and don’t get overrun with ads.

If you are in the Bay Area it is on CBS..
