Trent Williams, Come On Down

Well, maybe. That’s the talk anyway. From Trent himself, who said “Y’all are barking up the right tree.” Works for me. He was dinged up and didn’t play perfectly, but he’s worlds better than Mike McGlinchey, or any other guy currently on the squad. With Westie Richie Hurtie out for yet another year with yet another injury, we need help across the line. Center being a big glaring need. Something we most likely address in round 1 or 2 of the upcoming draft.

It would be nice to gain some depth as well. Raider Gabe Jackson is on our radar, as is center/guard Ethan Pocic of the Seahawks. Poach one of their guys, for a change. He’s not spectacular, but he can play all 3 interior line spots, and started 14 games last year. Canter Alex Mack is available. Even at 35, he is playing at a very high level, and likely wouldn’t be too too much money. Much less than what we are on the hook for Westie anyway. I would love to see us get at least 2 guys in free agency to bolster the line, and get a better sense of what spot we draft for in April.

We very well could draft for McGlinchey’s RT spot as he has become a giant liability in pass protection, and may warrant a move inside to RG. Anyhow, not much going on out there in football-land. But things will get rolling once free agency hits.

We should know a lot more on the 17th. Looking forward to it.

    K’waun is a Jersey guy.
Saleh will be bringing him, and more, here to the Meadowlands I suspect.

    9ers East.
I hope he takes Solomon Thomas off our hands too, tho the ACL injury happened here, which could be a significant hurdle.
Look at it this way, we’re going to lose guys in FA.
Just need to sign less than we lose to obtain Comp Picks next year.
Lynch needs to fix the OL and the Secondary.

Upgrading the QB situation for the future is what I’d prefer on top of that.
I expect Saleh to be an ally to us in terms of a personnel pipeline down the road.
At the least, someone to give assistance to us when able would be great.
    Darnold consideration maybe?

They definitely need need to sign Trent Williams who’s still a monster and one of the top LT in the league. If they lose him they would immediately have to go draft Slater in the draft. Chiefs just released 2 OL Eric Fisher&Mitchell Schwartz for cap reasons that could be something too look at with a make good possible contract ( since both are coming off injuries)

  4. Winder says:

The possibilities in FA and the draft are still pretty much endless at this point. It is going to be a true test on our FO to see just how competent we are. I agree with what NJ said in Saleh working with us to better both clubs. At least I hope he does. i am just glad we didn’t lose Peters.

  5. alleykat69 says:

I have no interest in Sam Darnold who’s a turnover machine. With a career of 45 TD’s to 39 interceptions and throw in his fumbles and 59% career completing rate forget it! Heard reports thank god that (Ian Rappaport) says the 49ers are not interested in him..

  6. unca_chuck says:

Hard pass on Darnold. We have Rosen to fill that role.

  7. Mike McClinchedy says:

I expect the RT spot to be a gaping turnstile that will get Jimmy G and his twenty busted backups squashed into oblivion

  8. Winder says:

At least we got Moseley back.

  9. NJ49er says:

    Bourne to Pat’s.
    Could Jimmy be next?
