The Plot Thickens –

Well, the Rams certainly have balls. They are going all in yet again for a new QB. The one they gave away is the ont they spent a ton of draft capital to get in the first place in Jared (don’t call me Jared) Goff. TWO first round picks, TWO second round picks, and TWO third round picks to Tennessee to get the services of Goff, the guy they just traded to the Lions for TWO first round picks and a third round pick to acquire Matthew Stafford.

Balls they have. But brains? Hard to say. They went all in last season with their mid-season trade for Jalen Ramsey, thus losing the only 1st round pick they have sniffed since trading up for Goff in 2016, and they won’t see one till 2024 with this new deal.

So, the Rams either cash in quick, stay on top for a year or two, or fade from the scene in a slow agonizing death. Frankly, I think they are fucked. It’s hard enough just to get through this division, let alone run the playoff gauntlet. They have mortgaged their future in a big way. They already gave away this year’s first round pick for Jalen Ramsey. Someone who didn’t really help in the end as we sure proved, and Green Bay as well, that if you can control Aaron Donald to reasonable output, you can beat them. Ramsey had a nice season, but in the end didn’t tip the balance.

So, what does that mean for us? Well, it means the price tag for DeShaun Watson is now stratospheric (catastrophic?). Out if this world. Far out. Across the universe. Shit, even looking at what the Rams gave up to trade up with Tennessee to get Goff in the first place is utter insanity. So, that leaves us in a pickle. This team has recently been burned by trading picks (see Dee Ford), and got kinda burned by Beater McBeatHard, and Jimmy G is looking like a slow-moving train wreck.

I hate to say it, but this doesn’t look like out year already. I don’t think the Niners can afford to trade up OR trade for DSW. We take a shot with our 2nd pick with Mac Jones (if he’s around) or Fla’s Kyle Trask. GIve Jimmy G one last shot, and see if he stays upright. If not, we’ll be back near the top of the draft and we can go for Sam Howell or Tyler Shough.

I don’t know what our team is gonna look like this year. We are gonna lose quite a few players I believe. But I don’t think we are sitting that bad. We do have areas of real concern, QB, OL, DB’s and so on. I don’t think we are that far off to being really good again. One thing that our FO has installed is a solid never give up attitude. That is huge, our players believe in themselves and it shows in their play. i don’t know much about Rosen or if we can get much out of him. I think we need to draft a qb in the early rounds. This has to be one of the most importants drafts of our new regime and we have to hit at least .500. And as far as the Rams go i hope choke till the cows come home. It also looks like the league had somewhat figured Murray out in AZ. And from what I have been reading It looks like Seattle is gonna take a page from us and feature the run game. We might just do alright.

From PFT regarding the topic of Jimmy…
IMO, it’s time to reshuffle the QB deck. Sell out for Deshaun, deal for Darnold if offered, whatever.
A franchise QB is hard to come by and I don’t think Jimmy is it.

In a deep DE Draft, I’d entertain conversation regarding Bosa for JJ if it were beneficial to land Deshaun too.
Better to move on from Dee but, he’s more damaged and making too much money.
Bad deal involved with that move by Lynch.
I see Deshaun as a more valuable asset in the grand scheme of things long term.

      • Winder says:

I would not give up Bosa or Kittle period. If they want to dump JJ also we could throw in Armstead and Ford. I think with all our cap concerns we are gonna have to work the draft and lesser FA’s.

  3. unca_chuck says:

The issue with Bosa is his health. He’s a stud when on the field, but his history is very bad where it comes to his availability. No crystal ball in my arsenal, so it would either be the biggest mistake in team history, or one that puts them over the top. If they get Watson.

Kittle? No. We either gut the team to get Watson, which isn’t worth it IMO, or draft strong and build with pieces we have.

Straight up Watt for Bosa? No fucking way. Watt is an injury machine. He’s missed 32 games in the last 5 seasons. Bosa is still young so the hope is he stays on the field. But even his track record isn’t very good regarding health.

  4. DerpShaun Watson says:

I expect the Whiners to trade away all of their draft picks and Jimmy G for Watson. They’re in win-now mode and they’re doing an excellent job!

Well here’s a crazy shit trade Rumor that even the Texans couldn’t turn down ..
4 first round picks, QB Derek Carr and TE Darren Waller for Deshaun Watson..
No way would the Raiders give up Waller a top 3 TE along with Kelce&Kittle would they?

    • Winder says:

kat- I think they would. Gruden is all about QB’s that is what got him his position. It wouldn’t surprise me if they gave up 5 first rd picks.

  7. alleykat69 says:

Winder- I think your right, nothing surprises me with the Raiders after dealing Mack to the Bears.Something about moving to Vegas has Gruden ‘s high roller mantra on letting it ride.Since he still has 4 years on his job left, I’m sure he would love to get Watson in Vegas for prime time years..
5 number 1’s with this team lol 😂 crazy but with bowl head Owner Bucky Larson at the helm it’s possible!

  8. unca_chuck says:

Gruden and Carr are a marriage made in hell. Gruden would dump him in a new york minute.

Shit, I think Carr is a better guy than Jimmy G. At least he can throw deep with some accuracy. Will prince Valiant make the jump? Could be.

Haven’t looked at Skeevie’s site in a while.

Funny to see Bullitt still lurks here.

  10. Winder says:

    I hope we sign him

Frank Gore said he wants to play for the 49ers in 2021.
Gore, an unrestricted free agent entering his 17th season, was enthused about returning to the team that drafted him during the second George W. Bush administration. “Oh, oh, I’d come back fast,” Gore said. “Man, I’d love to wear that No. 21 jersey one more time. If that was to happen, that would definitely be my last year, if I could come back and sign with the 49ers.” Gore, 37, averaged 3.5 yards per carry on 187 carries for Adam Gase’s Jets in 2020. He’d have little chance to getting any run in a crowded San Francisco backfield.

  11. unca_chuck says:

I would do it in a millisecond. He can be a player-coach. He can pick up where Rathman left off.

One of my all-time favorite Niners. They need to retire that number when he retires.

    • NJ49er says:

      Frank deserves a Ring.
If there’s room on the roster to carry him, 100% onboard.
      He shouldn’t cost much either.
      Love me some Frank.
