Doneskis – 6-10 and Another Long Offseason

Say what you will about this season, but the team, despite a gigantic injury list, managed to keep its focus and drive as their backup QBs stumbled, bumbled, and fumbled their way to a shitload of losses. It would be nice to think that with a fully healthy team, the offense would have clicked along nicely and won at least 4 more games.

Pretty easy to contemplate, but that first loss was with a healthy Jimmy G. His numbers weren’t terrible, but they weren’t great either. But of course COVID gave all the teams no preseason games and little practice time. We pretty much couldn’t contain Murray when we needed to and lost in the end. By the time the team had had warmed up, the entire roster was hurt. Our trip to New Jersey proved fatal as Bosaand many others went down.

No need to rehash the rest. The positives, few as they were, were the emergence of Brandon Aiyuk as a bona fide threat to score whenever he touches the ball. Fred Warner on the defensive side also proved himself to be a major stud. The rest of our stars from last year were battling injuries. Mostert, Jimmy, Kittle, Deebo, and Wilson all spent lengthy amounts of time on the IR. To the detriment of the team.

Defensively, Ford played 3 downs, the entire defensive backfield was hurt at one time or another. Even our backups got wasted by injury. CB Jamar Taylor, who came in from the cold and stifled Cooper Kupp, was lost to a knee injury. As were backup linemen Dion Jordan and Jordan Willis. Even shrivel-dick Nick ended up on the IR with an elbow injury.

On and on. So, turn the page and look to the 2021 season. The 2021 team is going to look a whole lot different. Good or bad. We have 40 (!!!) free agents, so there will be a lot of turnover. Get rid of Mullens and we’d have a lot less turnovers. But I digress. Ford, McKinnon, Coleman, Tartt, Ward, and Sherman are the big-ticket guys who likely go. That will free up some cap space, but no idea how much.

Got to hit the draft.

Not to mention the status of Richburg too. He’s been MIA and hardly worth the expense at this point, but for the fact that Garland and Compton are among the FAs.
Most pressing FA is Trent and he won’t come cheap.

Curious to see what they do with Rosen too. He’s a FA also.
We’ve still got Kevin White and Jauan Jennings in hiding as well, which might be a hint at whether Bourne will be allowed to walk.
In Bourne’s case, he’d be worth more to me in Comp value.

I suspect they’ll look to retain Verrett as a replacement for Sherman since he’d played on the cheap this year. Questions always surround the guy in terms of staying healthy however.

Here’s the list as posted on Spotrac –

I would definitely keep Bourne. He is clutch. We are gonna have to pay Trent but that money is well spent if we can keep Jimmy upright. I would like us to keep Ward and K-won also. Lets see what Sherman does, I would like to see us make him a player coach. This season was just terrible but so was the whole country. If nothing else we might get a chance to breath some fresh air pretty soon, 15 more days of the most tiring, exhausting, and evil, leader we have ever had.

I like Bourne as well he can be alittle inconsistent at time but make clutch plays and sideline toe touches as well as anybody.Besides unless they ever get any production out of Jalen Hurd u need Bourne as a viable 3rd WR option..

  3. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Bourne is a keeper. Forgot about Richberg. Yet another player who is great when healthy, just isn’t ever healthy. Hurd is still my hope, but I’d still keep Bourne.

Good morning all, are we doing picks, Bills over Colts, Seahawks over Rams, Buccaneers over the Washington Team

  5. alleykat69 says:

Yeah those are my 3 picks for today as well..
Bills rolling right now with Allen& and my boy Diggs in a blanket!
No chance Rams can win without Goff.Hell they can’t win with him, he sucks!
Brady and the Buccaneers easily take care of Alex I can’t move around in the pocket Smith..

    • Irish Kevin says:

I don’t know much about Washington’s Defense, if they pressure Brady….you never know. If Alex is on today it will be interesting, he has been through a lot and is still playing. That is the only game that is a toss up for me

  6. Irish Kevin says:

Whoa, are the Colts going upset the Bills, so far Rivers is doing well.

  7. unca_chuck says:

My calls are on Flavs site. Batting 1.000 for now.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Washington’s defense has chase Young. He’s a beast. He was nick Bosa’s opposite DE at Ohio St.

  9. unca_chuck says:

    Glad Seattle’s
Out as the Rams will lose next week. DJ Rees ends up being the goat as he fumbles a punt to give up a late 7.

  10. Winder says:

I gotta admit I am glad Seattle’s going home early. Don’t think the Ram’s have got the gas but they have made it this far. I am hoping for an epic choke.
