The good news is no one is gonna get hurt in a game this weekend. But that doesn’t preclude the ‘Rona from spreading around the team. Grasu has it, and so does LB Joe Walker. If we get out of that alive, the hope is that we will have some of our offensive weaponry back. Raheem Mostert and Deebo Samuel being the biggest pieces.
Shanny went so far as to say that even Kittle and Garland could be in the mix if we are playing ‘meaningful’ games down the stretch. Meaningful meaning we need to beat the Rams next weekend, and they need to lose to the Pats tomorrow night, for us to have any kid of chance.
And let’s hope that isn’t the case. The obstacles just seem way too high this misbegotten season. Shit, they are even talking about bringing Jimmy back for shits and giggles.
I don’t know. Could this season get any weirder? I guess I shouldn’t ask.
Interesting games today are the Sunday Night offering of the Raiders vs the Chiefs. If the Raiders can somehow pick off KC twice, that would be no mean feat.
And the NO/Falcon game features Taysom Hill as the starter for the Saints. Sean Payton is throwing a wrench into the mix to see what happens with Drew Brees being on the shelf. Still pissed at that call. The 2 refs 5′ away didn’t flag it. It was the side judge 20 yards away.
i think everyone in the organization needs a break. Hopefully we get some players back next week. The way things are going we will just experience more injuries. i don’t think we win another game. However our defense seems to be playing pretty good and if we get a little lucky who knows.
The cowboys and the No-Skins? If we really try I think we could win 3.
Not that I want them to.
The hell with this season, the hell with 2020 for that matter. I say let the starters get completely healthy for next year, the Niners biggest decision is what to do with JG, he seems to be injury prone now. Then the decision becomes if the Niners draft a QB do they play that QB next year or go with Mullens or CJ. Kyle made the pic on CJ, not sure how he feels about him now. They also need to cut Dee Ford loose, he IS injury prone, granted when he is healthy he is a force, but that is when he is healthy, has me played a full season without going in IR? First season maybe,.
They almost have no choice but to play Jimmy next season. They definitely need to draft a QB but they can’t throw a rook out there and expect miracles. We know Mullens and Beater. They owe it to the team to give him one more shot.
Pretty good game by the Raiders. close but not quite.
They/we need Jimmy to restructure at the VERY least.
I still like the idea of dealing him back to Bill to get our Pick back and, maybe pry Dugger away?
Jimmy is plug and play there, we’d get an extra Pick to address another QB.
Then, we see what flies between CJ and Mullens, while said rookie to be named gets up to speed.
Most important is unloading non-productive CAP weight like Ford and others, while addressing a youth movement with favorable Contracts.
Our CAP situation took a major hit with older guys like Ford brought in to win last year.
Missed the prize, time to clean it up.
Ford, McKinnon, Sherman, Coleman, and Witherspoon need to go. Jimmy? His deal is great in that he’s just a $2 mill cap hit. It’s his salary that is too much. I doubt he restructures, though.
We either pay him or cut him.
Who’s Dugger?
What AK said Chuck. 😀
I think NJ is talking about Kyle Dugger a Safety with the Patriots, plenty of upside can lineup anywhere in the secondary. He would be a great fit, just don’t know if Billy Boy would part with him..
Ding, Ding, Ding!
Winna, winna chicken dinna AK.
Hoped we would have sought him in the Draft ourselves.
Very versatile IMO.
Ahhhh. Yeah I was surprised we didn’t address the defensive backfield but hey, we are doing OK now. For now.
I think Lynch and whoever has input with the draft is batting a little over .300, Ok but not great. i thin Kinlaw is gonna pan out but it’s yet to be seen. Having Bosa out is a big loss to all of our line. Ayiuk is a keeper or so it seems and the rest of last years group might turn out and might not. One problem that I see is we don’t really have any players who we want to dump who have any trade value. We sure aren’t going to dump either of our starting LB’s. Maybe Tartt and Ward might have some real value when healthy they are pretty good. I am just thinking we gotta go youth in a big way in the next year or so. We just have to have an exceptional draft this coming year.
Gotta think COMP Pick value Winder.
Guys that walk in FA net them something from a Picks perspective.
What concerns me now is Bosa coming off an ACL repair.
He’s not likely to pick up where he left off. especially turning the corner against OTs.
He’ll be less than 100% for sure. How much less is the question.
Use KStreet as a barometer.
ACL repair is taking him a couple of years to recover from.
Solomon Thomas won’t get a significant 2nd Contract with us and likely won’t return any Comp value elsewhere for us either.
Nature of the game I guess?
Trades might net us low round picks. As will comp picks. Tartt and Ward may net us something, but a 3rd rounder? Maybe. Maybe not. Tartt is a solid guy but he does not create turnovers like a lot of other safeties. Ward as well.
But this year is way too difficult to really see what we are as a defense with all the injuries. That being said, Saleh has to be given kudos for the defense playing as well as it has. This may be the year he leaves for a HC spot. I mean, with Thomas and Bosa playing, Armstead pays better. Tartt and Ward and the corners get more picks, yadda yadda yadda.
And we will dump some of bad deals scattered across the team.
Amazing the amount and severity of the injuries this year. Burrow could be out 2 years. More snakebit QB problems in Cincy. COVID or not, I really think the league needs to get rid of the fake turf fields. At least make the outdoor fields go grass. There is no reason for NY, Sea, NE, Balt, Hou, Buff, and Minn to have fake turf. You’d think the owners would want to protect their players.
The numbers show 30% more injuries on that stuff. Mainly lower leg injuries.
The 49ers signed S Chris Edwards to a one-year deal. The team also signed S Kai Nacua and WR Shawn Poindexter to the team’s practice squad and opened the Injured Reserve practice window for RB Raheem Mostert and RB Jeff Wilson Jr.
Looks like they both can play if they make it through this week.
K’Waun Williams tests positive for PEDs. He’s out with a high ankle sprain anyway, so no harm no foul, but just have to wait for the COVID group to clear.
Looks like they dropped the suspension due to testing mishaps.
Huh. He’s still hurt so it don’t really matter. Just waiting for the word on all the COVID folks.
New thread is up.
