Game 8 – Halfway to Somewhere

This will be the halfway point of the season, and based on how this has gone, even being near .500 is a bit of an accomplishment. As bad as I thought Shanny and Co were doing during the first few weeks of the injury parade, they have redeemed themselves pretty well in beating the Rams and the Pats.

Now of course is the Seahawks. A bigger test than both those teams. The good news is no deafening crowd, no 12th man, and Seattle is not exactly the legion of Boom anymore. More like the Legion of Zoom as passes riddle their defense, and points fly on the board. They are dead last in defense by half a football field. And that’s saying something seeing how well Teflon Mike Nolan’s defense is doing in Dallas, and the Falcons being the Falcons.

The bad news is Russell Wilson is having an MVP season. Without him, this team is likely 1-5. With him, they are in every game. His receivers are absolute studs, and they can get open at will whenever Wilson leaves the pocket and buys a minute or two back there. They look to pass as they are beat up at running back, so we NEED to scheme some blitzes as we can’t just let Wilson pick us apart.

Looks to be some kind of shootout. Bet the over, which is an absurdly low 53.5.

Who the fuck is out O line coach? We can’t pick up a blitz. Get Jimmy out.

  2. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Now Jimmy G has his out.The pussy just limped to the sidelines he’s done no toughness..

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah we are down to our 3rd string center, but the rest of the O line is flat awful.

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

OH FUCK. This season can’t get any worse, but then again it keeps getting worse.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jimmy G shows no heart not going for the 1st down, and then they have to punt.

DK Metcalf last pick in the 2019 draft 2nd rd number 64! Kid was obviously going to be the next TO for the Niners at 6’4 235 and built like a chiseled god..
But hey the 49ers decided to not try and move up a few spots to get him and drafted at #67Jaylin “ I’ve never played in a football game Hurd” Yeah hows that working out? Hurd’s gonna be a bust
    it’s time to admit it..

  7. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

And can anyone explain why Shanny’s other major bust Dante Pettit is still on this team? My god cow shit smells better then this guy’s performance since he’s been here!!!

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Damn. BDN is back.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Almost had a shot. Shanny is stupid going for the onsides kick. Fucking stupid.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Forcef them deep. 3 and out and you have field position for the next score. THEN you go onsides.

    Stupid shit from Shanny.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Love that call. Wilson fakes going down and draws the penalty.

Just too many injuries this season, what is it 14 starters on IR? Let’s see COVID, injuries, yeah 2020 a year to remember.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yup. I’d say let Mullens play out the string. Or at least the next few games. Jimmy G is proving to be a liability at this point. He either needs to get right, or get out. I’m tired of this shit.

Here’s a good summation of many of our thoughts –
Garcia and Whitner, I’m there with you. COMPLETELY

Our Offense isn’t NASTY enough IMO.
We can’t/don’t play well against pressure.
Either it’s the QB making the protection calls or, we don’t ‘muscle up’ too well?
Driving me mad of late to see how inept we are when pressure packages are thrown our way.
I’m curious to see what we have with McKivitz at this point too.
Start evaluating some things along the OLine. Why not?
Is McGlinchey suited to handle the OT position?
Can he produce inside at OG? Maybe McKivitz inside?
Things need to be improved in terms of Pass Pro.

Hard to remain even a little optimistic if Kittle goes down for any length of time.
This Offense gets a little too ‘gimmicky’ for me lately.
Play some smash mouth football for a change and, challenge Defenses deep once in awhile maybe?

      Hard to remain optimistic…

The line calls come from the center based on the play called in the huddle. In our case, it is Hruss Whoever our 3rd string guy. Hasty missed blitz pickups a few times, and there were issues across the line all day. Until Mullens came in.

The offene is fine when we are able to throw downfield. Mullens was successful doing that. It opens up the intermediate passing game. Jimmy G is either hurt or toast, so the team needs to start Mullens for the next few weeks.

  16. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Remember the last time Mullens had a great game, a week later he through a total stinker. We need to use the rest of the season to evaluate and basically start pretty much over. To be competitive we need to dump some dead weight big contracts. We have so many holes that one draft isn’t gonna cut it.

  17. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

49ers trade LB Kwon AleXander to the Saints for much traveled LB Kiko Alonso and a conditional 5th rd pick..

New thread is up. Niners dealing with upcoming salary cap issues in dealing Alexander.

    Dee Ford will be next.
