Game Day III – Dawn of the Dead

Well, dawn of the wounded. Still in Jersey at the field that torn ACLs built. We are down 10 starters, and possibly 11 if WItherspoon doesn’t go, but the Giants are down Barkley. We just have to win as many as we can in this easy part of the schedule and see who gets healthy once the Rams and Seahawks pay us a visit.

Don’t see how much more fucked up this year can get, but I’m sure it can. Let’s hope the injury bug ain’t as long-lasting as the COVID bug.

  1. Winder says:

I think we still have enough talent to win this game just as long as we don’t make to many mistakes. Still 49er football. Go Niners.

  2. Irish Kevin says:

I feel that KS is going to be too conservative on Offense, he will not feel comfortable with Mullens. Be ready to see a lot of running the ball, playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Just my opinion

  3. unca_chuck says:

Like thhe misdirection with Aiyuk. He missed the block on the 1st one.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Hey, not too bad. Le’s ee the defense. It’s all about the pass rush.

  5. alleykat69 says:

Not bad overcoming the sack to get 3 from Gould from 52 yards! Mullen made a nice 20 yard pass to Taylor, hit Bourne latter time give Gould a shot, that’s promising..

  6. unca_chuck says:

Our 3rd down D off to a bad start.

  7. unca_chuck says:

    Derp!!! There you go.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Wow. This is unreal. Everyone is OK and they arrested the kidnapper.

  9. unca_chuck says:

Well, there goes Reed. Fuck this field. 1st quarter and 2 more leg injuries. Yeah, nothing wrong here. I hope the Giants and jets lose about 15 players to leg injuries. This field is atrocious.

  10. Winder says:

Well here is another getting worse situation. We are dropping like flies.

  11. Irish Kevin says:

First team to score a TD wins this

  12. unca_chuck says:

Bleeeh. I have a bad feeling about this game. We aren’t doing much on either side of the ball.

  13. alleykat69 says:

    Moseley out too? Possible Concussion
    Yep there dropping like flies!
What is with this field? NFL says they looked at it and it’s up to standards! Fuck that! This stadium is a graveyard for players to play on!!

  14. Winder says:

We sure don’t look like a well tuned machine

  15. unca_chuck says:

    Can’t run for shit now.

  16. Irish Kevin says:

The running game is going nowhere!!

  17. unca_chuck says:

Yes!!! Finally. Jet looking good this drive.

  18. Winder says:

    that’s what i’m talking about

  19. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, baby!! Put this fucking game away,

  20. unca_chuck says:

You watch any replay, and guys are twisting their ankles on every fucking play.

  21. Irish Kevin says:

This is where Kyle needs to get aggressive, go for some points, he will probably just run out the clock

  22. unca_chuck says:

    We’re on their 30.

  23. unca_chuck says:

    Nice!! Mullens looked good there.

  24. unca_chuck says:

    Jet needed to go OB.

  25. alleykat69 says:

6 seconds left still time for one more quick shot to the endzone.Shanny to conservative there,, the 3 is automatic but the 6 would of been gravy!

  26. unca_chuck says:

Rams getting spanked by the Bills.

  27. Lurker John says:

Dontae sucks and yet the Niners seemingly bring him back every year. WTF. Nice finish to the half there, but they need another 10 points.

  28. Lurker John says:

If Jet had gone out of bounds they’d have had another shot at the end zone. Need to put these guys away in the 3rd quarter.

  29. Lurker John says:

The Lambs went from having an all-time classic uniform scheme to completely fucking it up. WTH were they thinking? They even fucked up the horns. 28-3 Bills. Josh Allen is a stud, big, strong-armed, runs like the wind and tough as nails.

  30. Lurker John says:

Verrett is playing pretty well today.

  31. Lurker John says:

The Deebo play for a TD for Aiyuk! Welcome to the NFL!

  32. alleykat69 says:

Agree Lurker the Rams have fucked up uni’s I don’t get that USFL league look?
On the under hand the other So Cal team the Chargers color schemes have always been a classic look imo..

  33. unca_chuck says:

Loving Aiyuk. Just need to salt this one away now. One more TD and it is over.

  34. alleykat69 says:

    DENIED ON 4th down
Yeah baby stout Defense by Niners on that one!!

  35. unca_chuck says:

The Rams dark blue and white were the best unis. They completely hosed ’em up with the dumb-ass numbers let alone the stupid horns.

Funny, the Redskins looking USC now.

  36. Lurker John says:

Even a FG probably ices this one. The Bills are trying to give their big lead away, but if they can hang on and the Cowgirls can beat Seattle, things will look better than they did after last week. AZ has the Lions. That’ll probably be ugly.

  37. unca_chuck says:

Wow. Nice screen!! Excellent blocking. TD!

  38. Lurker John says:

This has been the Jet and Aiyuk show. Aiyuk looks like the real deal. They’ll really have something once Deebo gets back. And that should just about do it for the Giants.

  39. Lurker John says:

    What’s up with Nelson?

  40. Irish Kevin says:

Looks like KS has learned not to let up when you have the lead.

  41. alleykat69 says:

If they score another TD I would go for 2 the way Nelson is psyched out!

  42. Lurker John says:

    WTF Buffalo.

  43. Lurker John says:

Dwelley has done a nice job today, as has Jeff Wilson, Jr. When’s the last time you saw a long snapper get pulled?

  44. Lurker John says:

JaMycal Hasty’s NFL debut. Congrats, kid.

  45. Lurker John says:

    C’mon Bills.

  46. Lurker John says:

    Wow, huge PI call there.

  47. Lurker John says:

    Yes!

  48. Lurker John says:

Well, nice win, boys, against a team you should beat, but we’ll all take it. Bring on the Iggles.

  49. unca_chuck says:

Mullens has better pocket presence than Jimmy G. Sure, it’s the Giants, but he feels the pressure very well.

  50. unca_chuck says:

Bills pull it out!! HUGE PI call there.

  51. unca_chuck says:

Falcons up 26-10 over the Bears, and chioke it away. Jesus. Unreal.

Hawks and Cowboys and I guess I’m rooting for the ambulances.

  52. Winder says:

Once again I had to break away from the game. Wow. Great to see us play 4 quarters today. Mullins is the man. Good to both Aiyuk and Jet get into it. Sam with Wilson. No turnovers.

  53. unca_chuck says:

Yeah a solid game all around. Jones sucks, though. WIthout his runs, the Giants gained less than 100 yards.

  54. Lurker John says:

That’s not good, when your UDFA backup QB has better pocket presence than your high-dollar starter. Mullens is more accurate as well, if you ask me, and has better timing. He ended up having a big game, albeit against a shitty team. You have to wonder what he could do if he was getting all the starter reps every week.

  55. unca_chuck says:

No shit. It’s a good problem to have, but next year you’d think Mullens has to want a starting job.

Rams lose, and Cards lose. Seattle down 1 late.

  56. unca_chuck says:

Garoppolo could easily be the odd man out as his contract is team-friendly if they choose to cut him.

  57. unca_chuck says:

Seattle wins. 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.

  58. Lurker John says:

Wow, the Lions beat AZ? Didn’t see that coming. I watched the end of the Seattle game. Prescott is another guy who doesn’t impress me that much. I know he compiles big numbers, but too often he seems to be situationally clueless.

  59. Lurker John says:

I see the Niners taking a hard look at the out in JG’s contract if he doesn’t really come up with the goods the rest of this year. I have less confidence in him now than ever, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Mullens probably isn’t a long term solution, but he’s a smart, competitive football player. He’s still raw, but seems to have a decent upside and is less prone to boneheaded throws. He certainly wasn’t perfect today, but he was pretty good given the circumstances. I wonder if he’ll get another shot next week. If I’m KS, I ride the hot hand.

  60. Lurker John says:

    That Rams-Bills game was crazy.

  61. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I’d give Mullens one more shot.

  62. NJ49er says:

Mullens has a lot of ‘Favre’ in him.
    Tough, strong armed and competitive.
Not to mention focused, and prepared to take a hit to make a play.

Given the upside of his contract by comparison, I’d look to find a way to keep Nick aboard.
Jimmy has not impressed me much in terms of pocket presence and arm strength.
Nick wins those categories hands down.

    • Winder says:

We have to figure a way to keep Mullens and that means pay him to be the QB of the future. He kind of reminds me of Garcia and he should only get better with more experience. the kid does have the it factor.

  63. unca_chuck says:

Right, Winder. In the NFL these days, you are either paid starter money or you are paid backup money. If the brass hitches their wagon to BDM, then Jimmy G hits the road and Mullens gets a new deal. and the beater gets bumped to backup.

Not burying Jimmy just yet, but really, Mullens looks much steadier in the pocket, is less rattled by pressure, and doesn’t throw the bonehead throws that Garoppolo seems to do once or twice a game.

I wonder what will happen in Chicago long-term now that Trubiscuit has been benched. They took a little too long with that decision, but shit, da Bears are 3-0. Who’d a thunk???

    • Winder says:

I don’t think Mullens can replace Jimmy just yet but give him a 6/7 mil contract for a couple of years and then replace him. Jimmy is still pretty raw also and maybe he can shake some of those bad habits. He was pretty clutch in a lot of those games last year
