Strange and weird as it will be, we have an actual sports related event that hasn’t been cancelled. The NFL Draft! As with most drafts, there are a lot of teams that need quarterbacks. And most are near the top of the board. The Bengals, Chargers, Dolphins, Jags, Broncos, and the Brady-less Patriots. The guys likely to go in the 1st round are: Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, and Jordan Love.
All but the Broncos and Pats draft in front of us, so that should give us the ability to get a wide out. The good news for us of course is that this is a huge draft for wide receiver. The top 4 there are Jerry Jeudy, Cee Dee Lamb, Henry Ruggs, and Justin Jefferson. All of these guys look like they could step right in and be productive.
At 13 though, JJ, CD, and Ruggs could all be gone. If that is the case, we could very well drop out of the 13th spot, and still get Justin Jefferson. An intriguing idea, but if we do that we very well could pass up Florida corner CJ Henderson. Cornerback of course is our other glaring need.
Still and all, i think we are in a position to fill a spot of need rather that trying to get more picks. As I said, I could see us trade down to get more picks and still get a top-flight WR in Jefferson, but the haul for 13 would be the determining factor.
A risky move, and we can still get a corner with our 31st pick, so it is one that is surely on the table, but we will see. So, the team is in great shape, we look to fill holes with our 2 first round picks, we have a boatload of talent, and with the recent success under our belts the team stands to get better.
Can’t wait.

I really don’t think Ruggs was on our radar that much. Jimmy is not a long ball thrower, We hardly used Goodwin who is just as fast. We need another Deebo.

No he’s not he’s a way better route runner than Goodwin is. The only time jimmy throws over 25 yards is when he’s out of the pocket and he does that now and again. i could be totally wrong and SF loved Ruggs I just don’t see how he would really be productive for us. But I am wrong most of the time with this stuff.
Until finally last year when Deebo Samuels turned into a solid player, the 49ers either draft a bust are too old to make a solid impact..
This year they had the choice of the best future all-pro playmaking receivers(except Ruggs) and they pass? I’m sure eventually I’ll enjoy Kinlaw’s play it’s just not the sexy pick I wanted..
Kat- i hear you. i love the sexy picks too. and if we had the draft ammo we could have got one of em. i think for what we had we did the best thing for the team. We will see how things turn out in the next couple of years with this crop of WR’s

Returned kicks and punts two years after transferring from JC. 3 TDs on returns. Not a burner but productive and still improving. NO 1st round WR is a Can’t-Miss, but he has some upside.

Aiyuk (pronounced EYE-yook) transferred from Sierra College for the 2018 season. He was an all-purpose threat for the Wolverines for two seasons, excelling as a receiver (89 receptions, 1,533 yards, 19 touchdowns in 2016-2017) and returner (two kick return scores, one punt return score in 2017). Sun Devils coaches started him three times in 13 games in his first year in Tempe and he caught 33 passes for 474 yards (14.4 per) and three touchdowns. The former all-state pick at Reno’s McQueen High School also returned kicks (14 returns, 314 yards, 22.4 average) and punts (11 returns, 67 yards, 6.1 average) in his junior season. Aiyuk took his game to another level in 2019, garnering third-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-Pac-12 honors after leading the Sun Devils with 65 receptions for 1,192 yards (18.3 per) and eight scores. He was also one of the top two-duty returners in the country (14 returns, 226 yards, 16.1 average, one touchdown on punts; 14 returns, 446 yards, 31.9 average on kickoffs). Underwent core muscle surgery on April 7, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Yeah, hope Aiyuk isn’t as middling as K’Neal Harry. We threw a lot to get him.
