Well, Here’s Something . . .

The rumor that won’t die apparently is the rumor that Jimny G and Tom Brady will switch teams. Tom gets a 2 year deal while Bill Belichick gets his QB back that he didn’t want to lose in the first place, and laughs his way back to prominence with a young stud QB while we have a 43 year old guy who is at the end of his run.

Great idea, amirite?

Jesus, please don’t do something this ridiculous. If this comes to pass, I’d put John Lynch in the front of the CTE line. This makes absolutely no sense on any level. Jimmy G’s first full season, one where he took a lot of hits, faced a lot of pressure, and brought the team back in the 4th quarter a bunch of times. So, yeah, let’s get the 43 year old to replace him.

If this comes to pass, I’d have to rethink my fandom. Seriously. This would set the team back at least 3 more seasons, and we’d have to hope BD Nick Mullens is really the guy to take us somewhere for the next 2 seasons.

You make a good point but if Brady led us to a SB win you wouldn’t feel this way at all. You’d be celebrating in the streets like the rest of us.

    • Winder says:

Yeah, a SB win is worth celebrating but what if he didn’t win it. I don’t think it’s worth the shot. As I see it we have a shot of competing for maybe the next 5/6 years with Jimmy. The current 49ers seem to love Jimmy and i am pretty sure it’s not just lip service.

  2. Grumpy Guy says:

Brady had an 88 QB rating last year. On a team whose defense is pretty damned good, he was not quite getting it done. Maybe he could bounce back for one last good year. And maybe he’s just done, or damned close. Seems like an insane risk for the 49ers to even consider this.

  3. unca_chuck says:

Sure, I would, but it ain’t gonna happen. Why didn’t Brady win last year? Brady had a solid defense around him and didn’t get it done. He didn’t have a lot of weapons, and he sure missed Gronk, but still and all, throwing away the future for a guy who would likely get hurt is ludicrous. He plays the the weakest division by a country mile. He would be ground to dust by week 10.

We aren’t the 2011 Broncos. A team who desperately needed a QB to get them over the hump. We would be selling out our future, pissing off the fan base, and wiping out all the great things that came out of the 2019 season. All to foist unrealistic expectations on a 43 year old quarterback? No thanks.

  4. Big Flavurrrr says:

I think doing something this incredibly stupid is a great idea. I also predicted Nick Bosa would be a bust so trust me, guys, I know what I’m talking about. Or maybe I should just stick to talking about the Giants because I have no clue what the actual fuck I’m talking about.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I don’t see how this makes any sense. Pre-season fodder if anything. The Raiders makes the most sense really for Brady if he goes anywhere. A desperate team looking to jazz up an entirely new fan base. Worse comes to worse, he gets blasted into retirement.

    I think he stays.

Hey, if they do it, I’ll be a lot less invested in the team. Because they are truly run by short-sighted idiots should this come to pass. 4 years ago? Sure. Coming off a 4-12 season of Sir Jimmy Fartsalot? Yeah, take a shot. Coming off a Super Bowl season? No.

Garoppolo was playing fine until he took that shot to the head late in the 3rd quarter. There should have been a call on that, and he prolly should have been pulled. Sure, it’s all hindsight, but he got rocked.

    • Winder says:

He got his bell rung pretty good on that one. I wonder if the coaching staff used any concussion protocol on him after it happened.

If you are making the OPI call on Kittle, then this hold on Bosa should be called. I saw at least 4 plays where he was held, but this was the worst. The fucking defender is behind Bosa with both arms wrapped around him.

No, I don’t want the refs deciding the game, but I also don’t want them turning a blind eye to blatantly obvious calls.

  8. OldSealsFan says:

The idea of swapping G for Brady is beyond insane. Brady would be lucky to survive a year, let alone play for the second year. Any expectations beyond that are ridiculous. I am stuck with the TB Bucs for a main squeeze with 49rs the team of my youth. The Buc fans are all for running Jameis Winston out of town on a rail. While the fans in Tampa are lusting for Brady, the common attitude is he would get killed in Tampa, also. You guys are lucky you have Jimmy G. He may not ever be as good as Brady but he’s taken the team to a SB. OK, he didn’t win but is was Mahomes who won the game- -Jimmy G. did not cause the loss.

  9. Winder says:

Niners resigned Wilson, Mullens, Moseley, Brunskill, Dwelley, all for one year contracts and picked up K’waun Williams 5th year option. Nice

  10. unca_chuck says:

These all makes sense. The big question is Armstead. I’d trade Solomon Thomas for whatever they can get and cut their losses with him. We just have to hope that Blair, Jones, and Moore stay healthy and his loss will mean nothing.

  11. unca_chuck says:

Witherspoon is another trade candidate. He has shown flashes off greatness amid the injuries and inconsistency.

  12. unca_chuck says:

Quinnen Williams, the guy I was on the fence about drafting was just arrested trying to board a flight with a Glock in his possession. One more reason why I’m glad we got Bosa.

How dumb do you have to be to try and get on a plane with a fucking loaded gun?

    • alleykat69 says:

They say the gun might not of been loaded, but maybe he was🤪! Yes I’m more then ecstatic the 49ers took Bosa over Williams..
In other news the 49ers are looking to trade Marquis Goodwin and not releasing him, saying he can play in this league.I say get a pick 5-6 rd ? could definitely help since they’re short on draft picks..

      • Winder says:

I thought he was gonna do the Olympics this year and let the football go. i must have read it wrong.
Williams driveway must not go all the way out to the road. They don’t even let you take fingernail clippers on a plane but I guess he thought his carry permit made it ok.

  13. NJ49er says:

Mulllens for Jimmy and a pick or 2?
    Why not?

    • Winder says:

i don’t understand why anyone would want to get rid of Jimmy. He’s the best thing to happen to us in years. Brady is toast that’s why NE hasn’t signed him already.

  14. NJ49er says:

    And….
Brady with Kittle for a year or 2?
    Why not?
Tom finishes his career where he hoped it would start?
    I’d do it.

  15. Berger says:

Tinsley Ellis is playing at The Saint in Midtown Reno March 15! The Saint has won multiple awards for the best micro brewery in America. The ‘Red Headed Stranger’ has won the most awards. Tinsley has won a few awards too! Here is a song he wrote that is covered by many artists:

    • Winder says:

      Great song.
Didn’t know Reno had a Midtown. It really must have grown since I was last there.

      • Berger says:

Midtown starts just south of the the river and goes to Plumb Ln, along Virgina St. The millennials have taken it over and they’ve done a nice job making the happening place in town.

  16. Berger says:

Somewhere on this post it says this is the baddest blues song ever. I agree! I do think this is the best blues cd ever. It’s called ‘Live Highwayman”. The song is ‘Pawnbroker”.

    • unca_chuck says:

Gooid stuff, bergs. Like the little Hendrix/Creedence break in the middle.

      • Berger says:

Two locations. Reno at Plumb and Virginia. The one you probably went to is in Sparks at Victorian Square, close to The Nugget. Both still going. He sold his brewery to Mammoth Brewery.

  17. unca_chuck says:

Is Great Basin still around, Bergs? Used to go there 10-15 years ago when a buddy of mine lived in Reno.

  18. unca_chuck says:

    My advice to the 49ers?

  19. unca_chuck says:

One more thing that annoys me about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Guys like JJ Cale and Townes Van Zandt, 2 of the greatest songwriters around, don’t get in, but ABBA does? Hall and Oates? Hugely influential bands like Steppenwolf and Jethro Tull are denied while pop crap is lauded. Depeche Mode but no Soundgarden? If Joan Jett is in, certinly a cse could be made for Courtney Love.

Metal and prog might as well be children’s music in the eyes of the RNR HOF.
