Step Right Up, Get Your Draft Picks

Well, maybe not. The cupboard is bare this season as the 49ers cashed in hard on getting defensive help and speeding up attacking the ball. Hard to argue with the results as Kwon Alexander and Dee Ford (and #1 pick Nick Bosa) tore up the league and got the 49ers oh so close.

Our meager pickings are:

Round 1, Pick 31
Round 5, Pick 139 (via Denver)
Round 5, Pick 159
Round 6, Pick 191
Round 7, Pick 195 (via Detroit)
Round 7, Pick 223

The good news is, unlike the last 3 drafts (and the Baalke debacles), the Niners aren’t trying to fill numerous holes. They have a well-rounded group of starters and backups as evidenced by the many injuries they overcame throughout the season to get where they got. I’d like to see more O line depth, more speed at the WR spot, and of course, secondary help.

Jimmie Ward may go, and even if he doesn’t, the 49ers can do well by shoring up the defensive backfield. The most obvious way to do that would be to trade out of the 1st round and get a couple lower picks. Or bundle up all those 5 picks in the lower rounds if they have their eye on someone specific.

And, huzzah, Grand Cheetoh pardoned Eddie DeBartolo for no particular reason.

And, speaking of the draft . . .

    And, for old time’s sake.

    For Rob

Hmmmmm . Now that I think about it, Ohio is a swing state. Eddie D is from Ohio.

Someone must have recommended it to Trump. I am sure it would be nice to have your record expunged, the fact is this was a pretty empty gesture since it hasn’t stopped him from getting the most prestigious award in the HOF induction. If it was a problem they would have never voted him in.

No shit. Eddie D is not being denied anything. Completely empty gesture.

Not true. Fruad criminals are restricted from certain areas of business and types of transactions. This was about removing those restrictions.

Not sure what’s in it for Trump yet.

The state of Ohio. That’s what. Point being, Eddie is still super-rich and whatever hindrances he had before the pardon are minor. Plus, Trump gets the admiration of a bunch of Hall of Fame and 49er players.

      • Winder says:

I am happy for Eddie and the family. i don’t like that Trump did it at the same time he pardoned some of the other slimeballs. Maybe Trump is trying to get back in good graces with the NFL. There is enough money floating through there that it surely has caught his eye.

Thank you to all of the good Republicans on this blog for supporting Trump in my time of need…..

      …what?
      ….they’re not?
      …wow, hypocrisy

Who in their right mind would want to play for a team that choked against the Kansas City (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!) Chiefs in the Super Bowl? SAD!
