Cincy Bound – Game Dose

Two early east coast roadies to start the season is a bit of a test for this young and squirrelly team, and we showed it in spades last Sunday. What does that mean for tomorrow? I don’t know. But this being the NFL, any team on any day can do anything.

Tampa matched us for ineptitude when it came to hugely inopportune penalties, but we beat them improbably with our DBs, and a solid pass rush. To the tune of TWO pick-sixes, and a dropped third. Amazingly, TB went on the road and beat Carolina. A team that was on a roll last year until they lost 7 in a row. Newton looked fragile and iffy, and he was pressured all game. So maybe our win WAS something special.

Cincy? I don’t know. They nearly beat Seattle on the road last week. Ginger threw for over 400 yards, but came up short in the end. Didn’t even see the highlights of that game short of the blown fumble call on Dalton. They also came out 4-1, and 503 but faded to the point of Marvin Lewis FINALLY being shown the door.

I’ll just pull a NoFear and say we will fall somewhere between winning 30-14 or losing 30-14.

Hyuk!

Nah. I’ll forever be optimistic and say we win this one 28-17. There’s time for pessimism when the season really gets going. Tell ya one thing, I’m REAL interested to see how the Steelers do against Seattle. If Pittsburgh rolls into Levi’s at 0-2, it would be something.

  7. alleykat69 says:

A quick 6 to get us going!
Shit now the Bengals strike for 47 yard play!

  8. Winder says:

Jimmy’s looking like his old self

  9. unca_chuck says:

That was a great audible by Garoppolo. He saw the blitz and went to the vacated spot.

  10. unca_chuck says:

K’Wuan Williams needs help. He’s getting toasted like, uh sliced bread.

  11. unca_chuck says:

Solly sucks. Bad call, but stupid play.

  12. alleykat69 says:

What a great screen call to Mosert!
Blockers out in front and he did the rest!
Gonna be a shootout, but I like how we’re moving the ball .Of course are they..

  13. alleykat69 says:

  17. Winder says:

    Brieda is an animal

  18. rtfirefly says:

Wilson from practice squad to first NFL TD in 2 days

  19. alleykat69 says:

I feel it’s so much of an advantage for the 49ers not to home and stay in Youngstown after the Tampa game. They get acclimated to the time zone, weather, everything you don’t get flying in a a day are 2 early. They should do this on all long distance back to back road games imo..

  20. Winder says:

fucking penalties just kill us. nice kick by wish

  21. rtfirefly says:

    4th round pick strikes again!

  22. Winder says:

Dalton is nickel and diming us all day

  23. Winder says:

    This play calling sucks

  24. alleykat69 says:

Great coverage and Pick for Alexander!
They are so much better than last year at ball hawking. Not thrilled at Bosa lining up off sides, how do you do that? He had I believe 2 last week..

  25. Winder says:

Fuck they should have went to the endzone

  26. rtfirefly says:

Solid, solid first half on the road. We get the kickoff!

  27. alleykat69 says:

Glad to see Goodwin get involved with a score.I was impressed with his long jump height in his TD celebration! I assume he was a Long Jumper in college?

  28. alleykat69 says:

OL is on fire 🔥 even with a stupid call on Staley they come right back and dominate!
    TD Deebo!!
Doesn’t matter if it’s Bill Walsh are now Kyle Shanahan:We OWN The Bengals!!

  29. Irish Kevin says:

Great first half, except for the penalty on Witherspoon for kicking the 🏈, he was frustrated for missing the INT. It’s not like they don’t have other footballs, and he kicked it in the opposite direction of the next play!

  30. Grumpy Guy says:

Best we’ve looked on both sides since Harbaugh was winning 12 games a year. Still not perfect but WAY more than enough to beat a mediocre team on the road.

  31. Winder says:

This team is shart today and I am lovin Jimmy playing like he has. Makes all the difference in the world

  32. Winder says:

So much for my lame-ass prediction

  33. Flavor says:

super fun win that I missed completely. MIssed Game 1 too in Kentucky. Hopefully I get to see one of these one of these weeks! 2-0 starting on the road? Excellent.

  34. rtfirefly says:

    4 sacks
    1st 500+ yard offensive game since 2012

  35. Grumpy Guy says:

But Now the Bad News: Staley is out for about two months. Broken fibula.

  36. Grumpy Guy says:

And just like that, your left tackle is Justin Skule.

  37. Winder says:

That is bad news. Maybe someday we’ll have a good game with no injuries

  38. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, that sucks about Staley. Was on the road picking my wife up from the airport so I missed the 3rd quarter and half the 4th. Just got done watching. Going downfield, running at will. 500+ yards of offense . . .

    Good shit.

  39. unca_chuck says:

Unfuckingreal. the Saints get a fumble/TD taken back because the ref blows the play dead as an incomplete pass that was clearly a fumble. No 7, Saints lose. They may have lost anyway what with Brees getting hurt, but the entire game changes around that bullshit call. Brees don;t get hurt if that play stands.

  40. unca_chuck says:

And AB scores a TD in the 1st quarter and has the time to molest a woman in the stands.

  41. Grumpy Guy says:

I wouldn’t want to be an NFL zebra in New Orleans for the weekend these days. With the screwing those fans have taken in the last year, you’d be likely found without a head in the nearest bayou.

  42. rtfirefly says:

    RIP, Ric

  43. rtfirefly says:

This is most of the plays in the game. This team is soooo close to being really, really, really good.
Our secondary is still a weakness. Our slot CB K’Waun Williams got owned.

Losing Staley after losing our backup tackle Coleman is a huge blow. If the team can survive this for six weeks or so until Staley gets back, it’ll be a good year.

(The fibula is not a big bone. I had my left one amputated for a skin graft for my cancer thirteen years ago. All Staley has to do is to let his heal.)

  44. alleykat69 says:

Sucks on Joe Staley, what a rock at LT for years..
I say we try and cut a deal for holdout Washington’s LT Trent Williams! Knows Shanahan well can step right in and keep this momentum going..

  45. unca_chuck says:

Wow. Ric was 70? Didn’t think he was that old. Best 2-song ending to an album.
