Oh, Training Camp, Where Art Thou?

Less than 4 weeks away, 24 days to be exact, before training camp starts. July 26th. Mick Jagger’s birthday. Circle that date. Why does this feel like the longest slowest offseason in history? The new CBA has something to do with it. The interminable lull between the draft and camp is the other. Crazy thing is, 2 weeks after camp starts, we have out first preseason game against the Cowboys. Seems like we barely get ANY practice in pads at full speed, and teams still get waylaid by injuries. They may have gone too far in the wrong direction with the reduction in padded practices.

Anyhow, word out of the Nick Bosa camp is that he is healthy and ready to fully participate in training camp. Ready but not able, until he signs. He and Deebo Smith haven’t inked their deals yet.  All the rest of our rookie class has signed, and although I haven’t heard anything specific, I’d think Deebo and Bosa will be at camp early with the other rookies.

I wonder how many teams do the nutcracker any more. Singletary had some short comings as a head coach but he knew football was about hitting. We have been hammered by injuries the last few years and hopefully this one will be minimal. This is a total boring time of year for football fans. Especially when our Giants suck this badly.

    This one never gets old

Floyd’s best album? There are times it is my favorite

  4. unca_chuck says:

Then again it can be Piper or the live sides of Umma Gumma. Or even Wish You Were Here. Or DSOTM

  5. Roger Waterss says:

You guys are all on drugs.

  6. unca_chuck says:

And the stupid fuck isn’t, of course. Reality is for people who can’t handle drugs. SAD!!!

Here’s a treat. One of the hardest to find bootlegs. At least before the internet. At least part of it.

    Dark Side of the Moo

    Enjoy

  8. unca_chuck says:

And if you are interested in the album, it’s quite a weird little story.

Side 2. Early stuff. If Piper isn’t your thing, this may not be either.

  10. Winder says:

Interesting. I can’t remember if I ever heard that before or not.

I’d heard about the album for years, but could never find it. The guy Rod at Rod’s Used Records in San Carlos said he’d only see a couple copies.

  11. Winder says:

Dead time of year so a little history.

  12. unca_chuck says:

That must be 1976. Clark was hired in 1976. The last year of the original owners (the Morabitos) ownership. Eddie Sr. bought the team in 1977,

I was pissed when Eddie Jr. fired Monte Clark. Along with the Joe Thomas hiring, it was a bad start to the greatness they eventually reached.

    • Winder says:

Yeah, Nolan was still the HC in 75 and Plunkett didn’t show up until 76. I think they just screwed up on the date

  13. Winder says:

    Here’s another one

You know in the beginning Rod,s shop( believe it opened inin San Carlos in78?)was all military stuff for sale, plenty of green army jackets, knives, medals, pins, anything he could get his hands on!
I bought a jacket which was the rage back then, had lots of business going on, then it slowed some, and he switched mostly to used records,(I think he might of sold out to someone else after awhile during that transition) which was still ok cause I was and still spin vinyls today, just love the quality unless I got to high and scratched a few lol 😂

Yeah, I wore out like 4 different records of DSOTM, Toys in the Attic, and Are You Experienced? back in the day. Then I lost 3 large boxes of albums in a flood. Stil have a few but not what I once had.

Heh heh. not sure how good that is. A whole lot of ‘what-ifs’ and a bunch of scenarios that ain’t gonna happen. If Cousins is available for trade, then he must have stunk up the joint in Minnesota. So, we wouldn’t be looking to trade for him. If Garoppolo sucks, then we move on next year )or even this year) and hand the keys to Mullens and burn our first round pick in the 2020 draft on another QB. Why bother with Cousins, who would cost an arm and a leg, and mortgage our future when we have BDN, who is at least good enough to win games.

Our season this year depends more on stopping other teams enough to make our points matter. Jimmy G doesn’t have to be spectacular. He just has to get the job done. Minimize mistakes and score in the red zone.

  16. unca_chuck says:

Same goes for Mullens should we move to him. Cousins is gonna be what, 32, 33 next year? He’s done if he doesn’t make it in Minnesota this year.

it is a very fucked up position for the Niners to be in. Whoever kicks for us has to be 100% committed and focused. I wonder how much of a cut in pay he would have to take in Chi-town. At best we get a 4th rd pick.

      • unca_chuck says:

The 49ers are in perfect shape regarding Gould. This is ALL his doing. He didn’t want to negotiate and wanted out from the get-go.
The Bears are still on the hook for Pankey and something like $3.5 mill. They’ll want to low-ball Gould and deal a 5th to us. But from what I’m gathering, the Bears aren’t even interested.

Shit, a 4th round pick would be great. Go for a 3rd.

We should be able to find a decent enough kicker anywhere. He doesn’t have to be spectacular, just good enough to hit within the 33 yard line.

      • Winder says:

Good kickers are not a dime a dozen-Gould kept us in and won a lot of games for us he was money. True this is all his doing but to find a replacement at his caliber isn’t easy. Just ask Chicago.

  17. Winder says:

Always wondered what Mac would have been if Green didn’t wig out. To me the best Brit Blues band ever.

  18. Winder says:

This one is a little long but it totally jams. Just goes to show what they could do.

  19. rtfirefly says:

Are we doing Niner blasts from the past?

  20. unca_chuck says:

Love the Peter Green FM. Straight blues.

Too young at the time to appreciate it.

    • Winder says:

Thank God there is a whole library of stuff he did. It’s to bad he took it a little to far. Pretty much the same thing as Syd Barrett.

  21. Winder says:

    love too

  22. unca_chuck says:

This is the first Peter Green Fleetwood Mac song I ever heard, and I was immediately hooked. The lyrics are so cool.
