The (South) Bay of Pigs

Through a scheduling quirk no one could have imagined, the drags of the NFL, the one-win teams, all bump into each other, or at least into us, these next 3 weeks. The 49ers, the Raiders, the Cardinals, and the Giants are all in the one-win club. And they are all on our schedule concurrently.

Be still my cold dead heart. As far as the race to the # 1 pick goes, the Raiders took the early lead this offseason by getting rid of their best player, Khalil Mack. They have also recently dumped their best WR in Amari Cooper and are pretty much Kaepernicking Derek Carr by whispering in the hallways that he’s soft and weak. Marshawn Lynch is hurt, but one can only imagine how he feels when he comes back and all the other weapons are gone. But hey, they have a shit-ton of first round picks.

The Giants are riding an old and ineffective Eli Manning behind a non-existent offensive line to a horrific season. Saquon Barkley looks great, but not when there are 11 defenders keying on him. ODB will end up somewhere (LAR/LAC/Dal) soon, and the Giants will stagger to their demise. They look hopeless for about 4 more years.

AZ is also riding their newly minted savior QB into the ground by giving Josh Rosen little protection and no defense to help him out. Patrick Peterson “desperately” wants out, and poor Larry Fitzgerald is thinking “shoulda left last year’. Their only win came as a large gift presented by CJ the Beater as he fumbled and threw picks while putting up staggering offensive numbers.  It was the best losing effort in NFL history. Yay us! They very well may damage Rosen to the point of diminishing returns.

Speaking of us, we are kind of the spoiled cream rising to the top of the curdled milk. Our big blow came at the en of the KC game when Jimmy G was knocked out for the remainder of the season in game 3.  Add to that we lost the guy we built our offense around in Jarick McKinnon.  The issue with the offense going south is the fact that the defense has less of a safety net to work with as CJ does his best for the Niners, and whoever the opponent is on a given Sunday. thing is, though, of these teams, I think we have the best chance to rebound soonest.

Even still, the defense is a gigantic problem as we have no pass rush and generate no turnovers. Saleh looks lost in the ozone again as we repeatedly leave WRs uncovered for ginormous plays.  Even with Jimmy G, we will struggle to win games if we continue to play terrible defense.

Up next is the AZ Cards, in their house. A place where we usually fail. So, come on Beater, throw that pick 6 in crunch time to seal our doom! We need a Baby Bosa!

Let the cards fall where they may. I don’t believe we would tank on purpose. If we lose out the rest of the way it will be because we continued to make to many fucking mistakes. The current players are playing for their NFL lives. Personally I think we win the next 3 games. I don’t give a crap on our draft position because if we can’t identify quality players then we are screwed anyway.

  2. NJ49er says:

It would appear that way Winder.
Promising talent on O-side with Kittle, Breida and others.
WTF they were thinking with Thomas and Foster I don’t know.
    AkWith ain’t doing much either.
Hope it improves but…is it talent or lousy Coaching?
Lynch is raw as an Exec and that’s an anchor around the neck of our future, whether we Draft 1st, 3rd, 9th or 15th. If you can’t evaluate and slot talent, you’re Jerry Jones.

    • NJ49er says:

Watched the LAR game today. Foster overshot his gaps constantly and rarely got of blocks that reached him all afternoon.
He ain’t Patrick by a long shot.
If someone inquired about him before the Trade deadline I’d sell.

      • 12th Man says:

No off season and missed the first 2 games, give him a minute NJ. He was top 10 last year.

      • NJ49er says:

Hope so 12th. Call me skeptical on both points.
Coaching and scheme fits have me scratching my head.
        Blair coming along.
Potential help being nurtured with Jullian and KStreet.
Again, this year is lost, so Draft slot position can improve odds for further talent additions, if Lynch can Scout/slot proper fits.

I think it’s mainly coaching. Look at Goff his first year under Fisher. He looked like a bust plain and simple. The D line is hopeless. Bu I think the players are better than they’ve shown.

    • Winder says:

I think it’s mostly coaching too. We are a very fast team but also a little undersized and durability is definitely a problem. I think we will have to tap into some older talent this next FA period. We will have to spend some money. Jimmy G’s hit on the team won’t be so bad next year. I think our weakest link is our OL even more so than our Dline

  4. Berger says:

    Greedy Williams

  5. NJ49er says:

Maiocco has a piece indicating Foster is having issues with the shoulder ailment that originally caused him to slide in Draft popularity.
He’s also number 2 in missed tackles this season.
Not a good place to be in. Obviously.

  6. DieHardNinerFaithfulSince2011 says:

We should sell off all of our draft picks for the next three years to get Mack, Suh, Donald, and Clowney on our D-Line. They’ll be a force to be reckoned with at Great Mall Stadium! And if coaching is the issue, why not get Jon Gruden on board and he’ll turn our guys into STUDS!

  7. alleykat69 says:

Shit that whole Rams team sucked under Fisher.Gurley was on my fantasy team and Freakin Fisher had no imagination on how to use him and cause of that it killed me to have Gurley on my team!!
Goff had no chance developing under that dinosaur 🦕

  8. Winder says:

as it looks now Breida probably isn’t gonna play Sunday.. So that leaves Mostart(st) and Morris. Not looking good for CJ’s health. Joos will have to stay and block most of the time so there are two of our better weapons pretty much canceled out. AZ sucks but if we turn the ball over I don’t see us winning this one.

  9. alleykat69 says:

Beathard has 10 of the 18 turnovers!!

  10. Spitblood says:

Are the 49ers going to pick first again? Let me guess? Shanahan and Lynch weren’t who you expected? Or, injuries got us again. We’re better than our record? Or…. We’re worse than the Browns. What the hell are you guys following a York product for? You’re literally wasting your lives. Literally.

    • Winder says:

So Spit, what are u doing with your time that is so meaningful? Personally the Niners are one of my favorite diversions and the love is there even when things don’t go right.

    • DieHardNinerFaithfulSince2011 says:

Have faith in our beloved team, Spitblood. Jed York will one day be a hero when the Niners have their championship parade down the Lawrence Expressway in Sunnyvale. And we can just go out and hire Rex Ryan to be our new franchise HC/GM in no time! It’s not as if we have Lynch and Shannahan some ridiculous six year deal or anything.

      • rtfirefly says:

When my parents first brought me home from the hospital, our house was a short walk from Lawrence, though it was likely a Boulevard back then. My high school bordered on Lawrence Expressway.

What’s your objection to it? They go too fast fer ya? Too many lanes confuse you?

  11. unca_chuck says:

Never as much as you Spitty. I take comfort in that. Still pretending to catch fish?

  12. Winder says:

Chuck, did you ever get a hold of Nip or find out where’s he’s been?

  13. unca_chuck says:

Nope. No idea where he went. Maybe he’s DHNFS2011.

  14. Winder says:

Right now I am a Boston Red Sox fan. I forget at times that I truly hate the Dodgers. And I don’t hate a whole lot of things.

  15. unca_chuck says:

    DieHardNinerFanSince 2011. !

  16. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, where did those LA trolls go anyway? Fucking pussies.
