In a move that will piss off a lot of people, let’s call them stupid people, the 49ers signed newly released free agent and their biggest nemesis from their biggest rival, Richard Sherman. of the Seattle Seahawks. Sherman reportedly signed a 3 year, $39 mill deal ($5 mill guaranteed) a couple hours ago. His tour of suitors lasted exactly one team, and he obviously wanted to stay on the West coast, so he did the deed as his own agent to boot.
Frankly, it is a pretty risky move to sign a guy coming off an achilles injury, but Sherman assured everyone he’d be ready come June. Sherman has been a little injury-prone lately, but he’s relatively young as 29 (well, 30 in March 30th), and the premier CB in the past 7 seasons. He leads the lead since 2011 in interceptions at 37, passes defended, and completion percentage against.
As risky as this move is, you have to think that the team has done its diligence, and John Lynch, no slouch himself where it comes to being a defensive back, has to be licking his chops at gaining Sherman. I think it’s a great move. I also think it is a poke in the eye to Pete Carroll. Which I really dig. What do you think?

they have so much cap space to play with, I don’t even consider this a risky move.
The biggest risk is him being ineffective and injured. We still need to draft a CB high. At least that’s is my hope. Denzel Ward would be perfect. Unless somehow Quentin Nelson falls to us.

Yeah, he’s another guy coming of a major injury, but it’s a shot you take.
at this point, I want the Niners to draft OL early and often. We must protect Jimmy at all costs. I am prepared to go out there and do it myself if the OL troops begin to dwindle….
If Quentin isn’t there, they’ll likely go CB. They could even trade down and go after someone like Will Hernandez, a guy I like. He’s a guard out of UTEP who is a late 1st rounder./early 2nd rounder.
I like that the signed Kilgore, and we’re getting Garnett back, but we need more depth and a guard not named Fusco. Ort whoever the fuck we trotted out there these couple years.
Quick and fast for a big guy. A mauler.
I like Ward a lot but now with Sherman on board as a secondary’s mentor to Witherspoon,Tartt etc..
They might go Rogan Smith LB especially with the unknown status of Foster(really like Tremaine Edmunds LB as well)
Who knows maybe they go after a pass rusher like Marcus Davenport?
I hated Deion’s mouth back in the day too but, he always backed it up on the field.
Sherman? I’m not sure he’s able to back it up health-wise at this point in his career?
Obviously, time will tell.
Most of his game, early in his career, was cheating the Zebras.
A LOT of grabbing, and groping, came with his game, most of it going unflagged.
I’ll remain optimistic, simply because he’s a Saleh system fit and, won’t need much, (if any), special grace period to coalesce.
Might even be, (dare I say) a role model for the younger guys, relative to the Saleh scheme.
The entire Seattle secondary got away with that shit. Well, since he’s now a Niner, let’s hope he rounds back into form. If he does, he’ll be a major upgrade.
NJ= I hated Hacksaw Renyolds(sp) until he joined the team. But, I hate Sherman more. Not my money and not my decision. He is a Niner now.so I hope he doesn’t disrupt the apple cart..
Only 5 million is guaranteed so I guess it isn’t that much of a gamble I guess that means we are not going after Johnson now. Fuck it what do I know.
