The Packers have winged their way to the city by the Bay. San Jose, that is. No word on who’s starting tonight, but I’d think Colin Kaepernick would be. If only to give him fresh time with the ones. I guess we’ll find out soon enough but it would be cool to see Kaepernick continue his ownership of of the Cheeseheads. He had his best passing game as a pro way back in 2013 opening day when he threw 27-39 for 412 yards, 3 TDs, and a fairly astounding 10.5 yards per attempt. This of course was Colin’s last best season as he threw for 3200 yards, 21 TDs to 8 picks, and got one play from his 2nd consecutive Super Bowl.
We of course beat them in the 1st round of the playoffs as CK had a more pedestrian outing that night, going 16-30 and 227 yards, and 1 TD, 1 pick. Of course, that was Ice Bowl 2 as the wind chill was 50 below. Even the year before, Kappy had what was an amazing playoff game passing and running. Throwing for 17-31, 263, 2,1, and an NFL record 181 yards rushing for a total of 444 yards.
Can he find the magik again? Let’s hope so. The season may depend on it.
Remember this game is practice. Kap should do well.
I watched the last game of the year vs the Rams 2 days ago. The one thing that jumped out to me is Trent Brown is really good. He was raw but he did not get beat. He absolutely manhandled some good D linemen. Also, Harris looked good at RB and Gabbert likes to play it safe. On defense the DBs looked good and Purcell and Armstead looked good on the line. I did not like the play calling. Too predictable for the formation the team was lined up in.
Well, that has been the rub since the Mooch days . . .
Lot’s of jobs at stake for these last two games. If they got it they better bring it. GB is gonna put up a fight also, big history going on. The game is really played for one half only so, we shall see.
Right. The first cut down day is Tuesday.
The play pen is pining for my return. Too bad scabs can’t take dissenting views. Here’s bullit logic. I say the NFC west is regressing this year so brain dead fucknut say AZ beat us last year. Hmmm, can you spot the fatal flaw?
Thinking. Try it some time BakkenBuwwit/RedDog/TouchdownTommy. Go ahead and post 50 anti-Kaepernick links between the’both’ of you.
Do you think Carson Palmer will improve this year? Their best bet may be to let him get hurt
Its been a long time since I was genuinely interested to see a pre-season game. A lot a stake tonight for lots of players, Kap first and foremost. Can’t wait to see.
Yeah, Guardedly optimistic Kelly can revive this offense. It’s about time.
I like the formations he has used so far.
Hi praise from Staley about Brown:
http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/brown-brings-big-flavor-49ers-o-line-broth
Nice!
Thing is, the fact that Kelly hasn’t named Gabbert the starter for opening day certainly leads one to think the competition is still open.
Let’s hope for the playpen’s sake that Kappy wins. I mean, that’s 95% of their content. Kappy sucks!
If Gabbert hasn’t been named yet then he hasn’t won the coaches over. He’s had all the snaps. I still think he wins the job for now. If our line keeps giving him a clean pocket like he has had, he’ll keep the job. He reminds me of Alex Smith with a better arm. Nothing wrong with that in my mind. Another scenario is If the check down gets covered and he doesn’t go down field Kap will be in.
Just read Bullit(sic) saying I blamed Kap’s fumble at the goal line vs the Rams on the center. The little boy Baking Bullit(sic) tells another lie. I blamed it on a bad play call by the coach and more so a bad formation since that was the play that was called. If they would have put the WRs wide the box would not have been stacked making a QB sneak more viable. Instead, they went Sardine Can and brought every defender in to dive at the A gaps. Bullit(sic) is OK with that kind of play calling, I am not.
The replay shows he actually had the TD and the refs blew it. The ball touched the goal line before the fumble. Little boys like Bullit(sic) just can’t handle it when history deals them a bad hand. He’ll be bringing up old posts about it the rest of his life. Mom’s basement will be busy!
Note to self, Stop going to the cancer site.
He absolutely did have the TD on that play. Last year was the kind of season when it seemed like all the shit ref calls went against the Niners. They didn’t, of course, but it seemed like it, and that play was as egregious as it gets. Cost the 49ers a win.
BTW, even when Bullit(sic) brings up an old post all you can do is assume he lying again. I’ve already caught him changing my text and putting quotes around them. Let’s face it, he’s just a little boy lying for attention.
You once said something along the lines of Bullit ran me off or something like that. What was to fear? I came to the conclusion that interacting with him was a waste of my time, so I stopped.
I left that site because the general demeanor is negative. For Me football is a diversion and supposed to be fun. I just don’t need that negativity in my life.
Having said that, Bullit(sic) was the last straw. When he brought up something I said and changed the text and use quotation marks I realized he just cares about winning even he needs to be a liar. Who knows how many other quotes he changed? He is perfect for the cancer site. If he comes here, I’ll go elsewhere. He might be the biggest dick I have ever had to blog with.
We’ve blogged with other liars but not somebody so sociopath as Bullit(sic).
NoFear was fine until he disrespected a friend of mine who carried an antenna down the streets of Fallujah. Can’t get more dangerous than that. The fact he disagreed with me about football was fine. He is entitled to his opinion. Debating NoFear was sometimes hilarious. Until he disrespected my friend I always wanted to have a beer with the Sardine Can Offense advocate.
Agree about the negativity, I found myself starting to really dislike the same message being drummed day after day with the clown car in the vanguard. Skews was so despondent the day Alex Smith got benched, his next post may as well have been an obituary, all very depressing.
I remember the NoFear conversation about your friend. No knock on NoFear, he knows his stuff about the military, but expecting you to answer his questions directly about your friends service and since you couldn’t in the first person, then drawing the conclusion that the story was fake was a heck of a stretch.
Much like you I like the banter and thats about it. I have a life, unlike Raging Pussy.
*skeebs
A little trivia for you 12th. My friend was the one who took the picture of Uday and Kusay that went world wide when they got killed. He was also there when they pulled Hussain out of the hole. He had to take turns guarding him. They called him “shithead”. His specialty was communications and he was always at some of the tensest spots. His parents were close friends of mine and we would go quading whenever he came home.
Hats off to him Berger, need some brass balls for the job. Deepest respect for servicemen and women, especially point men like your friend.
Is he out now or career man?
He’s out now doing private security related stuff in Georgia. His parents moved back there to be close so I don’t get to see to them anymore. I remember watching the SB the Colts won at his house. I drank almost their entire bottle of Wild Turkey and got pretty toasted. They didn’t ask for it to be replaced but I felt bad and ended up buying them a new bottle later that week!
a little pre-game fun
Wow! That was good stuff!
last one
Crazy shit, Bergs. Yeah, getting anywhere near any of that shit must have been a nightmare.
As far as the play pen goes, the best idea is to . . .
Some of the best guitar face going on with Joe there.
And they will all . . .
Serious guitar face here . . .
Well, this is what I think of this Niner season in general and Kappy’s long awaited return in particular.

Best. Video. Ever. Besides, I wanted “Magical Mystery Tour” but the bloody thing is blocked on YouTube, so this will have to do. Hmm, after reflecting on the Titanic voyage that was last year, maybe this is more apropos.
50% of The Chiptster’s run plays are read option. So, the question to me is the confidence in Kappy’s surgically repaired appendages. Is Kap healthy enough to run Kelly’s normal offense?
Anyways, after I got totally suckered by the Eagles’ preseason offensive juggernaut last this, I am trying, I am trying, I am trying, to pay no attention to Kelly’s preseason whatsoever. Or at least not so much as last year. I hope, Maybe.
I remember us liking the O-line last preseason, of course nothing like this years line, and being disappointed after the 1st game. I think Chryst got too predictable with his play calling. If we were in a SCO formation we ran and then went 3 wide to pass. Then they went to the opposite field blind check down plays against AZ and got punked. Chryst was as predictable as Jimmy Raye.
Interesting goal line play by the Dolphins last night. 4 wide left, 1 right. The pass was an immediate slant to the one guy on the right. It was incomplete, but the replay showed it was incomplete only because the DB hit the guy early – penalty not called in any case.
Gase play BTW. He has an imagination.
That pass set up the TD run up the gut on the next play.
The Trent Brown article certainly is high praise, but my first impulse is to wait and see. I am excited about his prospects, but the potential label has been applied to a lot of guys who never really cut it. I also wonder why he fell all the way to the 7th round, even with his allegedly lethargic work ethic.
I just don’t like the idea of tagging him with the “greatest ever” tag before he’s even established himself in the league. That’s a lot of undue pressure. But I’ll be pulling for him to have success because that’ll mean the team is (likely) having success too. If he does pan out, he may not go down as the greatest lineman ever, but he’ll certainly be in the running for draft pick steal of the century. It’s hard to believe so many teams passed on a guy with this much upside.
GO NINERS!
He fell to the 7th round because he was about 400 lbs. Supposedly he is down to 355 now. Focus on this guy tonight and you will see what the big deal is. He dominates.
I have seen him Berger, but I’ll focus on him tonight.
Gabbert is starting.
Saw that. Was hoping they would give Kap the start to see what he can really do. Slants the evaluation with Gabbert starting.
He shouldn’t feel bad, Tom Brady was a back-up today! LOL!
My question has always been about Kappy’s health. It’s only a couple months since his last shoulder surgery (late April?).
