99 Losses or Bust
We seem to be in the holding pattern of 1 win, 2 losses as this bland flavorless season continues it’s slow march to oblivion.
Looks like the 1985 team of Jimmy Davenport is safe in the knowledge that they will continue to be the one and only 100 loss team in the 144 year history of the NY/SF Gothams/Giants.
I mean, 5 more wins out of 21 games shouldn’t be that hard. Right?
Giants continue to go hot/cold. Unfortunately one of those cooling off is Schmitt. 9-44 in June 0 BBs 9 Ks. 14-63, 0 BBs 13 Ks. Looks like he’s back in swing mode.
For the season he’s 12-50 batting leadoff, again 0 BBs. 2-19 since blowout game vs. Cubs, who come in this weekend.
Hope Eldridge and Lee stay hot, joy to watch.
Miller, lol has to be demoted back to Sac. Zero command of where ball is going.
At least Schmitt’s K rate has not gone up during cold streak. He’ll always be a hacker. Not my favorite kind of hitter, but Arraez, Lee, and Casey are all in that mold. It’s harder to be effective when you’re not drawing walks, but, hey, that trio is getting it done, unlike the big 3.
Nice column in TA by Brisbee on Cox, who might just be productive player. He can certainly run, and hopefully hit at least well enough to hang on as CF.
I’m looking forward to seeing him pull the ball hard once against a fastball. His all RF success looks as much like tentativeness as it does a conscious approach. Excited about him. Haniger for Ray on par with Stripling for Cox? We’ll see.
Well Cox should be the one in CF he’s a much better player then Gilbert who can’t hit a lefty not showing it against Righties either. But he has the Tennessee Bromance with V so that’s all he needs I guess.
And JFK and Bertolucci seriously is a joke for the bench that offer nothing but consistent outs, man I miss Mr.Ed..
This’ll be helped when Ramos and Bader come back. But I cringed when I saw Kennedy pinch hitting last night with the game on the line.
Why not Haase?
Updated the page in case you didn’t notice.
Spot on “opener” Chuck . . . It doesn’t get said enough, thank you for letting the “Flap orphans” have a home.
LOL. No prob. I may start a new page but we’ll see. This seems to be working OK for now.
.
Adames off today, sore upper leg or something. 0 for last 17 ABs with 9 Ks.
Let’s see how Adames compares so far in 2026 with the Marlins SS Otto Lopez (the guy SF cut from after 2025 camp):
WAR/Games/Plate Apps /Hits/HR/RBI/OPS/OPS+/Steals/Errors/2026 salary
Adames: 1.3/ 67/ 288 /63 /11 /29 /.712 /103 /1 / 11/ $26 million
Lopez: 3.1 /66 / 279 / 89 /5 /28 /.860 /143 /11 / 9 / $740K
Adames has the 3rd most Ks of all SS in MLB. Tied with CJ Abrams for most SS erros in MLB with 11.
For $183 million, IMO Adames is a massive bust. I think he is gone no later than beginning of 2028 season. One of those hyped lower minor SSs has to stick.
Jesus. Even when we find guys we let them walk.
Along those lines, don’t look now, but Wade Meckler.
Now with the Halos. So far this season, 17 games and 60 plate appearances, check out this slash line:
.340 /.417 /.547 /.964
12 RBIs in that stretch.
When he was up with the Giants, I thought he was scrappy and quick, but his D was iffy, too small to be a threat at the plate, and he just looked like another career AAAA Giants OFer with a high “want to”, but limited by his lack of physical talent.
Maybe I should have figured the Giants horrible development system was screwing him, too. Looks like it.
EYE OPENER! Thanks for sharing snarkk.
The next guy dumped by the Giants that I would look for down the road to make a comeback is Luis Matos.
Brewers picked him up after SF DFA’d him, then dropped him after a short stint. Might have been a numbers game, I dunno.
IDK where he is now, but I think he has undeniable physical talent to succeed if he’s in a system that can work with him and turn the light on that fairly dim bulb he has on defense and baseball instincts.
The Giants jacked him around and up/down too much, like they’ve done with many before. By the end of that, his name should have been YoYo, not Luis, Matos…
hahaha . . . Good one! “YoYo”
Conga line, what conga line?
Of the 28 games in which the Giants have hit zero HRs, they have lost 24.
Lee, Bericoto and Cox are today’s starting OF. I’m game, let’s play these young guys. Nothing to lose.
Schmitt at SS. Oh boy. Better than Schmitty in LF tho.
This oughta be fun. Barracuda strikes me as yet another fairly clueless player who isn’t really comfortable anywhere. Shows some power, but he’s destined for Sacto when Ramos/Bader comes back. At least he’s young, but he’s been with the organization 8 years already.
Schmitt leading off today is nonsensical to me. Lee and Arraez with far higher OBP. Schmitt knock’s them in. Whatever. Arguing LUs with this management is now pretty meaningless with the team in the toidy.
At this point, I want to see anybody in the OF not Bader and not Ramos and not a vet. And even when they come off the IL, I’d rather see anybody else young out there. This season has turned into an audition for youngsters. Bader was a debatable acquisition, he’s useless now that the team is a train wreck headed for 72 wins. They should trade him before the deadline, too, before he hurts himself some more. Plantar fascitis is not a good look for trading, it can really hang in there a long time, and is debilitating.
Really would like to see Cox get on base today and steal, run, make the defense do something. When is the last time we saw the Giants hit and run ?
This is what I’m talking about. You got Buster, Bochy, Dusty, Butt Tingler, Washington, all these fucking guys that should be telling Vitello his lineups are stupid. Moronic. Idiotic.
Schmitt should be somewhere between 3-6 EVERY GAME.
Adames should NEVER hit leadoff. You have Arraez and Lee who get on base. They aren’t power hitters. THEY should be 1-2. Take your pick. Adames should be 6-9 until he proves he can do more than strike out.
This Nats pitcher is living outside of the strike zone.
K & K are right, Miller dresses like he is going to the beach, e.g., I caught him in the Oracle Park breezeway a half dozen years ago, when I went to a Giants game.
Fucking bats are dead again.
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Our stellar pen has once again opened the floodgates.
As K&K said, ERA means jack shit when comparing starters (Ray) and relievers (Seymour), i.e., Ray wasn’t pitching particularly bad, but the box score is going to reflect him having 5 earned runs due to Seymour’s inability to . . . uhh, provide “relief.”
Uh, how many disasters writ by Carson Seymour are needed before they just keep this dude in Sac for the rest of the season? He helped screw Ray’s ERA, thanks.
Ray’s trading stock is cratering by the start. This POS squad cannot seem to get a break in any direction. Trade Ray and Arraez before they friggin’ get hurt…
Same old shit show,Nats running all over with steals and hit and run attempts, taking extra bases as the bad news bears can’t even hit cut offs as usual.
Then you have these clowns like Seymour replacing Mr.Options Beck which should be an upgrade and then you add another dude Rievier Sanmartin? who stunk at AAA ito add more kerosene to the fire in this BP!!
Well a single bomb for Chapman and Lee extends his hitting streak to 19 and Arreaz now 11 , the highlights of the lowlights!
Gilbert blind. ‘Nuff said. Send in the Ball Dudes or Ball Dudettes as substitutes. Can’t be much worse.
Seymour Butts is really wearing out the Nats. All that running around the bases.
Snarkk I don’t think anyone would hold anything against Ray for his record on this team.
Plenty of teams will have interest.
Unlike the rest of our blind Giants players, WA players know how to challenge strikes.
Everyone in the league seems to have a clue about this but us.
Walk.
Wild pitch.
Double that really is an error that Gilbert botched, should have caught it.
7-1.
Hot grounder to Schmitt, he boots it, no chance to get runner at home, throws to first and gets runner by an inch.
8-1.
Oops, as I write, a single to RF, now another score. 9-1.
Sey”more runs scoring” is flailing, Vitello is letting him twist in the wind.
Flemm and Miller are laughing in the radio booth. Anything but talk about the spectacle of turds being laid below. The embarrassment continues.
I hear boos from the crowd. Finally. Good.
Mercifully, the inning dies of exhaustion. Like the current administration in DC, apparently there is no bottom to this disaster, no extinguishing this dumpster fire.
To me, the only things of interest left now for SF’s season:
It’s just really hard to watch these guys. I am pissed that we play like this but really more sad than anything else. We just don’t have the talent. i looked at a mock draft and they have us picking another HS shortstop at 4. That will drive me fucking crazy.
Seriously? Sheesh, I agree Winder – we already have 2 or 3 highly rated shortstops in the system.
Adames is so bad, they want to make sure somebody is ready to take over at some point before his deal runs out so they can get rid of him and save some $ …
Even we can’t be that stupid.
I think the Giants should sign Brandon Aiyuk for the BP he obviously knows how to hit 104 MPH on the radar gun..
Lulz ! …
Well, as Kruk alluded to, Chapman definitely has a pulse, after a putrid start to the season.
. . . and another bomb by Devers. Too bad it’s all for nothing, as this game is so far gone.
