Hey, we signed Eddie Dinero Piniero as well, but I do like the Mike Evans signing. He’s solid, tough, has size and speed, and is a great 3rd down/deep ball/red zone option given his 6’5″ 230 lb frame. Yeah a little long in the tooth at 32, but he’s got some mileage left.
A little surprised the Buccos simply gave up on him as he must lead their team in just about every WR category, but hey, he’s a pro and he should do very well here.
So glad to see a move like this as this will hopefully get the impetus to fix the O line in the draft. Throw Mac Jones into the mix for some good bodies on the O line.
chuck I was thinking of picking younger FA’s. There was a bunch of em to be had and I think their still is. I’ll go look at rotoworld. But I do agree that Evans will be worth it if he plays up to his level this year. My guess is we got him because this is the last year of our window. We shall see.
Vederian Lowe 6’5″ 315 may be our LG if we opt for D with initial draft picks. A 49erswebzone article says he is a swing Tackle.
we can afford this, do it
https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/199467-49ers-vikings-perfect-trade-partners/
this keeps Bosa double team away
Winder I get it by getting younger with the WR’s but the 49ers truly need an X factor #1 receiver and Evans is all of that with 10 straight 1,000 yard seasons( 11 straight would’ve of equaled some guy named Jerry Rice?)until last season and at 6’5 230 lbs is a force in the red zone, and now I hear they just lost Bourne to Cardinals and Jennings surely moving on along with Aiyuk who actually helps on Evans 3/60 deal saving 27M on his release. And with only Pearsall, and Shanny’s weird obsession of not involving rookies are2nd year guys Watkins&Cowings maybe they still go after FA Alec Pierce are Romeo Doubs are for sure more WR’s in the draft to sit on the bench..
Kat- We are gonna need to pickup at least another couple of WR’s in FA because i don’t think we can count on Cowing or Pearsall. i like Evans but just not so much at 32 but it does look like he’s all we got.
You can bet he will be double teamed a lot which should open up the run game some but I don’t think McCaffrey is gonna have a year like he did last year especially if we lose Williams. I just hope Evans won’t turn into a seldom used Anquan Boldin.
49ers new OT Vederian Lowe’s stats for 2025: • 165 pass-blocking opportunities • 1 sack allowed • 15 pressures allowed • 95.2 pass-block efficiency • 67.1 pass-block grade • 56.8 run-block grade
start at LG , draft LG backup later or is Zakelj good enough. If Trent leaves team or injured then he starts at LT
63rd out of 89 players at his position. We do need bodies.
It would be hysterical if the VIkes traded for Jones after letting Sourdough Sam skate.
Really sorry to hear the Flap is gone. I was always hoping Craig would maybe just put up one new post a week, then leave it alone, let people just add to it throughout the week, wouldn’t require much from Craig. Or maybe it still does, I don’t know. A lot of us go way back to the Splash, so it’s been many years (decades now, even) that we’ve had a great forum at the Flap. Hard to imagine life without it, actually. Maybe a new venue will pop up somewhere, somehow, by someone….
Yeah Paul it’s been one hell of a run for the Flap and Splash!Ive been posting since day one of Craig’s one flap down debut back in 2010 what a ride it’s been and debuting with the first of 3 W/S championships that year caked it all off!
Yeah like you Unca,Blade,Winder Loco,Zumie and hundreds of others we all appreciate the remarkable job Craig has done, I’m not quite writing his blog off yet, he shut it down before temporarily but maybe will get Giants fever again with this new regime just to see how this new team and manager what’s his name Tony Vito Carleone? Time will tell but I’m optimistic!!
Looky here
The Green Bay Packers decided to release Elgton Jenkins on Monday in a move that frees up nearly $19.5 million in cap space.
LG good in pass pro but better gap blocking, not zbs.
Did you guys hear something I didn’t? I thought Craig was still on the fence about restarting the Flap.
He posted a new thread unca, indicating that he was shutting it down. As others have said, this is sad news.
Ahhh, haven’t been there in a while.
Another thing about WR Mike Evans barring injury free going forward..
Jerry Rice from ages 33 to 36.
Age 33 1995 122 receptions 1,848 yards 15 TD’s
Age 34 1996 108 receptions 1,254 yards 8TD’s
Age 35 1997 16 receptions 1TD limited to 2 games due to injury
1998 Age 36 87 receptions 1,157 yards 9TD’s
So 3 out of 4 years still producing big numbers so hitting these 3 years with the Niners coming up for Evans should be productive with his 10 straight 1,000 yards seasons 2nd to Jerry imo a great player for Purdy to have, just stay healthy cause he’s a baller just like Jerry always was)
It’s funny but I rarely ever said anything on Flavs blog but I spent a lot of time reading it and usually visited at least once a day. My memory really isn’t great and I would forget players names so the Flap was ALWAYS educational for me even if I didn’t watch the game I usually knew what was going on. There were multiple Giants historians on the Flap (especially Loo). I will miss that.
