Super Bowl LX By the Bay ! ! !

Well, the mudflats! Dude I used to work wth called me Charlie by the Bay. Or sittin-on-da-dock-of-the . . . Anyhow, I kinda hate to say this but:

a) of course I’m gonna watch
b) I’m actually pulling for the Seahawks

Fuck the Patriots. I know Belicheat is gone, as is flat-balls Padre Tom but they have enough chips.

Seattle? Pete the cheat is gone. Russell Wilson is nearly toast, and you have to like the Sourdough Sam story. Rag to Riches courtesy of Kyle Shanahan. I tell ya, with our luck, Mac Jones goes to Minnesota and wins THEM a Super Bowl next year.

Oh, man, they just showed Ronnie Lott and Charles Haley surprising Roger Craig at his house to announce his induction into the hall of fame.

    So fucking cool!!!!

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Speaking of cool . . .

I can’t bring myself to root for the Hawks.

Rams, Cowboys and Hawks are all POS. A close second are the Packers and Eagles.

I am a fan of Sam and wish him a good career but that’s about as far as I can go.

As for next year fuck the Vikings for the SB, it’s all Niners baby!

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

I think if we address the O-line, get a pure pass rusher and stay healthy, the 49er are a Super Bowl team.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

        I agree Berger.

They need a LG, I would like a C but could get by with Brendel in a pinch, they also need a rush DE and a WR that can separate, I’m not sold on Pearsall even when healthy.

If they don’t suffer too many injuries and in particular injuries to their core starters I can see them competing for their 6th Lombardi next year.

I also believe Shanahan has learned from overthinking it. Winning the coin toss in OT and taking the ball against KC was just a dumb decision. Giving Mahomes 4 snaps every down for the win knowing what he needs to do to win, egregious.

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I sure hope so. Hope springs eternal but we have a long way to go.

We are coming up on year 10 and I just feel like Shanny is snakebit. It seems they’ve finally gotten their shit together on the draft, but man, they need O line help in a big way. And they notoriously ignore that.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Went to this game and there was prolly 25,000 people there. Bought cheap seats and walked to the upper deck 50 yard line at halftime.

    Total gas!

  6. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Um, no eff the Seachickens. their annoying fans need to leave the bay area and go back home to wearing full on rain gear. they have 1 SB to their credit in 50 years and talk endless BS. Hope the Pats shut them the eff up and Niners better equipped to deal with them next season.

  7. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

Fuck the SB. Is the new Giants hitting coach really named Hunter Mense? It’s just not believable…

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Good hearing from you Loo!Yeah I agree I could give a rats ass about this SB on Niners home turf.Im more worried about fucking up my chicken wings recipe!

As far as this new hitting coach Hunter Mense,he could be Keyser Sose (Usual Suspects)in disguise? Dude does have a Sports Psychology Degree which might be good with all the head cases the Giants have ! Anyway anyone would be an upgrade over Pat Burrell..

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

“menso” is a slang word in Spanish I used to hear a lot years ago, usually to describe someone not so smart.

Realize lot of fans happy about new coaches replacing those from last year but I think Vitello and co would be lot better off if they’d added more to pitching staff.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah Willedav I was reading about our new coaches and I couldn’t tell who our main pitching coach was. My understanding was we have 2or 3 coaches for pitching and they are gonna bring another one onboard and call him something that is supposed to be new. It was confusing for me.

On D a quality free safety needed to work with the average CB’s. Draft?

we have big salary cap CLE has close to zero. All 5 of their starting oline are free agents. C Ethan Pocic is 6’6 320 33 1/4 arms and 30 yrs old. Can he do zbs .

how much to get ATL Kyle Pitts the 6’6 250 TE? Really need mac jones for a 2nd!

nfl.com has a good article on available free agents. Again CLE has all 5 oline looking for better contracts. LT Cam Robinson also. I worry about shanalynch going D for FS, CB1, and edge before doing O.

I think the slotting will dictate the positions they go after with #1.

27 is too late for a for sure hit O tackle and O guards can be had in the 3rd. That just leaves C, and Shanahan uses his C to call the plays at the line, something a rookie can’t do, so IMO they won’t go O in the first round without a big trade up but they have a lot of needs so a trade back would make more sense.

If they stay put at 27 a DE or WR make the most sense for the slot.

The DB’s were exposed more because of close to zero pass rush. Sigle is more gifted than Brown but couldn’t make the calls. Mustapha missed a bunch of tackles, maybe wasn’t all the way back. Green doesn’t seem to have the IQ for a zone heavy scheme and Demo, although the best in the back 4 just didn’t play as well on the outside as he did as a slot CB. Stout was a relevation, physical and smart. Made a bunch of rookie errors but learned from them. He’s a real difference maker.

If I was the Niners I get a C and a Safety in free agency as well as a WR.

Man, seeing Joe walking stooped over and then tossing the coin, makes me feel old.

  10. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I agree with everyone here who said fuck Seattle. I kinda like Darnold too but not near enough to want them to win. I hope they get crushed.

  11. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

I actually think New England is severely undermanned on both offense and defense. Consequently, they should lose by a significant margin. That being said, the Seahawks Darnold, is the wild card – can he win the big one?

To date, I have rarely been impressed with him.

  12. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Pfffttt! That’s what I mean . . . Was outstanding in avoiding the rush and had an easy TD pass that he muffed.

  13. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

This half time show is not for me.

  14. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Both Defense came to play. Nice to eye a DC knows when to blitz

  15. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

zzz . . . Defensive battle. Boring, inconsistent offenses by both teams, with Seattle less comatose by a nose. That interception probably the final nail in the coffin for Patriots.

  16. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Collingsworth on drugs now . . . Or, his producer is telling him “THE PATRIOTS STILL HAVE A CHANCE. I WANT YOU TO SAY THAT RIGHT NOW, BEFORE WE LOSE ALL OUR VIEWERS!!!!”

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

when maye threw the pick, he said “I got nothing”.

pretty apropos. Maye looked like shit against a ton of pressure.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

the 49ers front office is getting lapped by the rest of the division.

Seattle has drafted lights out better than the rest of the league and is flat killing teams with a nickel defense and a 4 man rush.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Yeah, and your 10:17am is spot on: Particularly about “. . . coming up on year 10 and I just feel like Shanny is snakebit.”

Frankly, Seattle will be quite confident going into next season. Us? A lot of question marks.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

as sideways as our season went, the Vikings have to be just kicking themselves. They could have signed Darnold last year at any time during the season and instead let Darnold walk.

    Oooooooops!

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Greenday was pretty cool opening the game. Took. The pup for. A walk at halftime.
