I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

Yes indeed it’s way overdue for Roger Craig #33 to get into the HOF!!
Saw him play many times as well Chuck, and was a Special weapon with his relentless high kicking running style along with his pass catching skills as the 1st RB ever to have a 1,000 yards rushing and passing yards in 1985! Craig and Rathman were lethal together!
He gave credit to Walter Peyton asking him what’s the most important thing a RB needs and he said ENDURANCE!
He took it to heart and started a relentless workout along with Jerry Rice( but it was Craig first who suggested it)working out on a steep trail 4 miles at Edgewood Park Redwood City,they called the “The Hill” and no 2 teammates were ever in better shape than them..💪❤️💛🏈💯
Used to live right near Edgewood park and go there all the time but never saw theme there.
Totally stoked for RC33, a truly great 49er and there’s no more deserving guy. Such a versatile and dangerous weapon for Walsh and Seifert, 3 Super Bowl rings and just an all around great dude. The epic run at Anaheim Stadium against the Rams is one of the great individual efforts in NFL history, IMO. What a terrific player.
Frank the Tanks time will come, another great Niner, a personal favorite of mine and another guy that absolutely belongs in Canton.

I was at that Rams game. It happened right in front of me. I could hardly see what was happening because all I saw was a moving mob when suddenly, Roger emerges for a TD.
That’s cool, Berger. I would’ve loved to have seen that live, but I sure never get tired of watching the highlight! RC epitomized the 49ers of that era, completely dedicated to his craft, a warrior on the field and tough as nails.
The Cornfield backfield was Craig and Rathman!! Those teams were so fun to watch.
Yes they were. As good as Rathman and RC were, it still seems to me that they’re somewhat underrated when the discussion turns to all-time great NFL backfields. Both were completely versatile, well-rounded football players. Just watching Rathman block was pure entertainment in and of itself.
Bill Walsh was such a great talent evaluator, one of his biggest strengths.
IMO Rathman is like Kittle, not in the energy sense but Rathman never ran out of bounds he saw the defender coming hw would just lower his shoulder and try to go through him.
Okay, ya all are going to think I lost my mind, but perhaps because it is so close to baseball season . . . umm, I was thinking, “WTF is Unca talking about in the other thread????” (as he didn’t mention THAT Roger Craig). Sooooo, before I went to the new thread, which he also announced, I had to look up Craig’s player and managing stats on Wiki . . . Nope, impressive, but not that impressive.
Anyway, I had my “Eureka” or “I should have had a V-8 moment,” where I said, “Holy shit! That Roger Craig! I guess I didn’t think he would ever make it, because voters would give him a black mark for the fumble he made in the NFC Championship game against the NY Giants, where we looked like we would squeek by with a win.
Sooooo, congratulations Roger . . . You deserve to be in the HOF! I apologize for thinking it was the other guy, who’s also loved in the SF Bay Area.

Congratulations to Roger! I think the reason it took so long was for the first half of his career he was a fullback. Most people don’t know that. So, when they look at his stats they aren’t impressed. If you consider how long he was at FB, his stats are actually very impressive. I always thought that he and Jim Marshall of the Vikes were the 2 biggest snubs. Now, Roger is in!
Yeah I loved the way Roger played the game and is so deserving of the HOF. I remember when we drafted him and thought he would be a good threat along with Tyler. Did not ever expect at the time just how great he would become. He was the perfect fit for the west coast offense and drove opposing defenses mad. What to just watch him.

Yeah, Craig was Fumbel Tyler’s blocking back for his first 4-5 seasons. And still had his breakout year in 1985.
Wendell would have had 1,000 yards rushing as well if not for missing 3 games.
And Rice even got close to 1,000 yards receiving despite only 4 starts his rookie year.
The Niners were quite the offensive juggernaut that year.
Only thing that stuck in my craw was Craig blaming Guy McIntyre for missing the block that caused the fumble in that 85 playoff game vs the Giants.
About 15years ago, I called guy McIntyre at 49ers HQ. I wanted to talk to him about the Angus Play. He called back and we talked about that and 49er football for a while. At the end of the conversation, he reminded me he caught a TD pass from Joe Montana. It was quite a fun call for me.

It looks like we go to Australia this year. Probably the farthest international game played. And it’s one of our home games. And we play the fucking Rams 1st game of the season. Glad not many people live in Antartica.
Check that: it’s a Ram home game and that makes it way better.
A game at SOFI is more like 49er home game. We usually have more fans than they do. I’m bummed to give it up.

Good for Craig, well deserved. His daughter Rometra played basketball for USC. Another one was track star in HS iirc. Just read Sonny Jurgensen died at age 91. Man what a QB he was. Skins team he was on with Charlie Taylor Bobby Mitchell and Jerry Smith were fun to watch.
yeah those Skins teams were tough. I always liked watching that division play each other. that was a strong division for a long time.

Trip all this stuff is happening right here…Moscone Center, downtown San Jose closing off streets, story in SF Gate yesterday about neighborhood near Levi’s where residents sometimes let friends or others park there and walk in despite signs talking about permits etc. Think back in day Niners fans used to do that at Kezar…just different world nowadays with traffic.

WillieD, yeah, saw that about Sonny Jurgensen. Saw him a few times very early ’60s as a wee lad growing up in NJ when Sonny played for the Eagles. Got his autograph and Pete Retzlaff’s as well. Those 2 plus Timmy Brown and a few others, also a fun team back then.
Shit, that was when Billy Kilmer was our halfback. Didn’t see him play for the Eagles, and I can’t remember if I saw Jurgenson play for Washington but he was tough as shit and fun as hell to watch. Just balls out oll the time.
Crazy he and Brodie die w/in a couple weeks of each other. Both over 90.

On a sad note, I haven’t been out here because my Brother in law passed away from cancer. I am telling you right now if you have never seen what cancer does it is devastating, he was only 62.
So sorry for what you are going through Kevin. My mom and stepdad both died of cancer in last 2 years. One of my closest friends died last year from anaplastic thyroid cancer, the worst kind you can get – he was gone within 3 months from date of diagnosis. Only 67. Mom had stage 4 lung cancer and battled for nearly 2 years before passing away. Looked like a concentration camp victim by the time she passed. Stepdad fell in shower and was discovered there 3 days later, clinging to life with the shower still on. He recovered, but while doing MRI for hip fracture, they discovered stage 4 bone and lung cancer. Was gone within a few weeks of first chemo treatment.
Hug your family Kev . . . You never know when they might be gone.
My deepest condolences Kevin&Blade..Cancer is such a F**King BITCH and I dread anyone that has to go through it including family members who are dealing with it daily with their support..
Yeah my brother in law had liver cancer, got a transplant but when they looked at the old liver there was more cancer, pretty soon it spread to other areas and then into his bone marrow, he lasted less than a week and he was gone

Sorry to hear that Kevin. I have seen what cancer does my wife died from it in 2010. They found it in her lungs but after fighting it for close to two years it has spread everywhere when it went to her brain she only lasted a little while. It is devestating for everyone involved.
