Here we are, once again meeting Philly in the playoffs. Last time of course saw the mercurial rise and devastating crash of Brock Purdy in his rookie season as he came from running the scout team to leading the 49ers into the NFC Championship game.
That ended badly of course as Purdy didn’t get through his second possession. Now? Well, it’s all about the defense. The Eagles defense is about as far away from the Seahawks defense as Seattle is from Philly. They don’t defend the run particularly well, but they don’t allow a lot of points. And with Trent Williams back, the hope is CMC can break off some nice chunk yard runs.
Ricky Pearsall is another matter. He’s a game-time decision. What diff he would have made last week is hard to guess as Purdy had about 0.75 seconds to get his passes off. Why Shanny didn’t adjust to the relentless rush by running slants and quick passes baffles me no end. And all y’all screming about getting 2 TE sets in there is also a valid beef. Then again, how many times can I rail against the soft zone on 3rd down?
Hard to be confident in this game. At least for me. Despite the trials and tribulations overcome this season with all the (once again) injuries and BA turmoil, unexpected wins and crushing losses, I just don’t think we can get over the hump. Then again, this team has zigged a lot this year when I thought they would zag. As they say, one game at a time.
Maybe leave this one up to the football gods. Shanahan certainly doesn’t have the greatest record vs Vic (remember me?) Fangio.
Let’s Go Defense!!!
Shit. At least he sent pressire
Hurts pass incomplete short middle to A.Brown was a gift . . . The only way this guy’s name would ever be in lights is if his parents had named him EXIT.
Moment of truth for our defense . . . and Philly’s offense.
Siriasnni is gonna get roasted for playing soft in the 3rd quarter.
OC as well. Fans no happy about play calling.
All off season to think about it.
Yeah baby we’re moving on!!! What a game! Bang Bang Motherfuckers !! Eat Crow Sirianni &Fat Fuck Dom and u fucking Eagles losing fans!!!!
went to well once too often. Goedart was blanketed by 3 guys.
Sirianni went conservative all through the 3rd quarter.
Our defense was outstanding! Offense battled and played hard nose football when it mattered. Nice win!
The other chump (which I already mentioned) is Brown. Not certain, but he missed not 1, not 2, but 3 passes in this game. He’ll be in the Eagle dog house all off season.
Thank you Niners!
LOL I’m Always open AJ and yet he can’t make a catch all game and bitched and pouted with his coach and checked out like Vernon Davis once when Singletary said I rather play with 10 then a player that doesn’t want to be out there! Can’t do it, can’t coach him!
I want Winners!!
Spot on AK!
A chance to redeem themselves against the Sheattle Shehawks next week and I welcome it.
Last time the team was playing it’s 3rd prime time game in 13 days and back to back 6 day weeks.
Its going to be different this time around.
Unreal outcome. Saleh did show a lot more 5 man fronts in the 2nd half and it slowed down their run game. But Sirianni really went conservo. He should have tried to go downfield more when we brought the LBs closer and tried to clog the running lanes. Maybe partly because AJ bitched and dropped his way out of the game.
Late in the second quarter, Brown dropped a deep ball on a third-and-9. Sirianni raced down the sideline to seemingly confront him. Brown took issue with whatever his coach said, and also had some words for Sirianni before the two parties were separated by staff members – including DiSandro.
My question is this . . . Was it due to the dropped ball and/or to make sure he was getting off the field so that he wouldn’t pick up a penalty for too many men on the field???

Hard to blame AJ for that one as the wind was blowing deep passes like that all over the place, but yeah, those 2 don’t get along. He may end up a Niner next year.
New thread is up.
