Injuries – RIPs – Game Threes

Jim Fahnhorst, 49er linebacker for 7 seasons, and three Super Bowls (XIX, XXIII, XIV), passed away at 66. Oddly enough, his older brother Keith, mainstay on the 49ers offensive line for 14 years, and 2 Super Bowl wins (XVI, and XIX), also passed away at 66 in 2018. Cool they got to share Super Bowl victory XIX in Palo Alto. Keith of course came in during the dark days of 1974.

RIP, Jim.

In game news, the Cardinals are working through injuries to four of the defensive backs. Cornerbacks Garrett Williams, LJ Collier, Max Melton, and Will Johnson are all iffy for Sunday’s game. This would definitely give Kyle something to think about for this game.

Kyle of course is playing the Purdy thing close to the vest. Lynch has even gone on to say that Mac Jones could get the start with Purdy being the #2. Available to come is and straighten shit out of it comes to that.

That seems like a whole lot of unnecessary bullshit. If Purdy is ready, play him. But what do I know? Jennings and his ankle, Juice with his concussion are both questionable. Bartch is (surprise!) on the IR. Shame he can’t stay healthy, but Connor Colby looked good in his stead.

So long Shakey Jake, hello Reddy Eddy.

Nice to have my eyes open for a crucial kick again.

Berger Musings. We should’ve drafted Mac Jones. I’m glad we didn’t because we might not have Purdy if we did. I am glad we have both now. Mykell is a beast. Collins is getting better, faster than I thought he would. Glad to have Winters instead of Dre. We got a bit lucky with their dropped passes. Our run blocking needs to improve. I’m still nervous on FGs because of Moody. We get a QB and 2 WRs back next week. I’m hoping for the best on the Bosa situation.

I’ll muse you one more Berger. Rickey is looking like a clutch weapon.

      BA who?

      One more muse,

CMC has a completely unsustainable workload. I only saw 2 runs by Robinson, he may have had more but that’s all I noticed. One of those runs was powerful and gained solid yards.

I don’t know if Jordan James is the answer but clearly Gurrendo is out of favor and Robinson is limited.

CMC will be worn out or worse injured by mid season at this pace.

      • Berger's avatar Berger says:

I thought he did not get spelled enough by Robinson. We’ll have 2 more WRs for next week. Hopefully, that means CMC won’t be lining up wide as much, allowing Robinson more snaps because we don’t need the extra receiver.

It’s great we won yesterday and that niners don’t quit for the full 4 quarters. Bosa has to be ok for us to really go anywhere this year. Right now we can beat the lesser teams but we can’t beat the good ones. It’s nice watching Pearsal bring home those pretty passes. He reminds me of a faster version ofDwight Clark.

maybe it was just cohn being cohn but he gave the o line a D rating and said both puni and Colby run blocking was poor.

Hearing that Nick tore his ACL. Great 🙄

Wow that has to be at least his second one. We are fucked.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

The only saving grace is that we’re playing a last place schedule Winder. Going to feel it most within our division.

Hopefully we’ve got plenty of time to get others up to speed for a potential playoff run.

Not going to be easy to replace Nick’s production to say the least.

Good God. Year after year we are just decimated by injuries.

    Bosa really sucks.

West will likely come back with a cast and might not miss a game.
